Salutations everyone!
Since Headmaster Droobledore’s return, we’ve been reviewing our team structure with a focus on the Game Design department. As a result, we’re rebooting the Game Design team to be able to produce more event content in an easier, more-manageable system. All of this has been done in line with the goals set out in Droobledore’s return announcement here.
To start with, we’ve been busy putting together a “strike team” of Sr. Game Designers that can deliver the events for the remainder of this year, before turning our focus to producing new content and systems for events as we head into 2026. More information on our plans for events will come in the future as we develop them!
This revamp of the department means that we will unfortunately be closing the lore team. Our lore team has contributed a lot of background stories for the server, many of which have brought both classes and gameplay to life. We’ve built up a great library of lore over the years to help us move forward, so we’re now closing the lore team to focus our game design efforts on content creation. This doesn’t mean that we won’t be interested in writing lore in the future. Our current plans just don’t have a requirement for an exclusive lore writing team.
Another key goal of the server is to increase our focus on live events such as classes, challenges and expeditions. Since the introduction of classes, these have always helped to build community and create fun moments. To support this, many of our Jr. and mid-rank Game Designers are transferring to the Curator and Class Design teams to assist with the creation of these events!
With the creation of the task force and the closure of the lore team, Jr. Game Designer and Lore Keeper applications have been closed. We’ll be reopening Jr. Game Designer applications again in the future when we are ready to grow the team once again, but for now we want to focus our efforts into developing our systems and really reboot our production capabilities.
