Greetings everyone! We said in our last change log post that we would be taking a look at housing, and so we have! This change log includes a lot of long awaited housing updates, as well as a lot more new blocks and some general tweaks to the server. I recommend giving everything a read, so you’re fully up to date!

If you haven’t read our previous change log, you can by clicking here!

Housing:
  • We’ve added 3 new commands:
    • /house spawn: Teleport to the house spawn
    • /house spawn set: Set the house spawn point
    • /house spawn reset: Reset the house spawn point
  • You can no longer place item frames and painting on other players’ housing plots.
  • We have finally fixed item frames and paintings being glitchy. It was glitchy in the first place because of the way Mojang handles item frames and paintings (they’re not actually considered real blocks, they’re considered entities (living)). These items will now get added to your inventory immediately, instead of getting dropped on the floor.

Only house owners can place, change and remove item frames and paintings.
  • Shop keepers now spawn with the right profession. No more house elves shop keepers.
  • Join and leave messages should now have been fixed, and will always appear. No more sneaky students trying to see what you’ve built without you noticing...
  • Added /house magic on/off. This lets you enable / disable magic completely on your housing plot, so brooms and spells cannot be used.
  • Added /house damage on/off. This lets you enable / disable whether or not player should take damage.
  • You will now be automatically put into fly mode when entering your plot, if you have purchased the perk. This was something you guys requested.
  • You can now break lily pads.
  • Redstone has been completely disabled. We did this for two reasons: We want to sell redstone items on the mine depot without worrying about it being abused and we’ve already seen some houses have this and abuse it. It lags the server out for everyone.
  • Players can no longer put their hats from /hats into item frames.
  • Tools now lose durability when a breaking a block that we’ve changed the drops for (e.g. bookshelf).
  • Added /house biomelist, which gives you a list of all available biomes. Note: This list is quite big!
  • /house residents now opens a GUI instead of sending the messages in chat. Clicking on the heads inside the GUI will remove the residents for you.
  • /house banned also opens a GUI instead of sending the chat messages. Clicking on the items unbans the player for you.
  • You can now remove end portal frames by holding shift and right clicking it. This only works if you’re a resident. This means we can finally sell this item (mail boxes).
  • /house scenery GUI should load *way* faster.
  • Added /house elf which changes the spawn location of the house elf. Dobby is finally a free elf!
  • It is no longer possible to open dispensers and droppers.
  • Lapis Ore
  • Gold Ore
  • Coal Ore
  • Diamond Ore
  • Redstone Ore
  • Iron Trapdoor
  • Dispenser
  • Dropper
  • Piston
  • Slimey Piston
  • TNT (don’t worry, they don’t explode!)
  • Jukebox
  • End Portal Frames (mail boxes)
  • Redstone Repeaters
  • Redstone Comparators
  • Redstone
  • Coal Block
  • Crafting table
  • Wet Sponge
  • Obsidian
  • Item Frames (finally!)
  • Lily Pads
  • Purpur Pillar
  • Purpur Block
  • Stone Button
  • Pumpkins
  • All diamond tools (axe, pickaxe and shovel)
  • All iron tools (axe, pickaxe and shovel), but with efficiency 5
Other change log:
  • We have fully reworked the shift + right click GUI. It now contains a lot more information about the player you’re inspecting. It also looks way better. If a player has a wand and hat on, it will be displayed next to their hat. We will add more to this GUI once we have more things to show later in the future (with Revelius).
  • Emotes now use nicknames again in chat, instead of IGNs. This was an oversight, apologies!
  • Potion effects are now cleared from you when you die. So is fire.
  • If you have a GUI open when you die, it is now closed.
  • You are now able to use caps in party chat.
  • If your message contains too many capital letters now, instead of cancelling it, it is now turned into lower case. You will still be asked to watch the caps, though.
  • You can no longer open mail by right clicking the statues placed around the map.
  • Cosmetic spells in /spellslist are now grayed out if you don’t have them.
  • You can now use capital letters when sending a channel message through a command. This means you can now do /G hello. This would not have worked before this update. Same goes for all other channels.

Thank you for reading! We hope you are just as happy as we are with these changes! Thank you for your continuous support!

Love the update but the price of block...
I can understand the mail box for 150 gold
But 1 paint 150 gold is too much and 1 item frame 200 normal player can't buy this thing

It's a nice update overall, and I appreciate these type of updates, but there are a couple of problems.

Why did you guys disable the use of pressure plates? They're useful for opening and closing doors automatically and now I have a bunch of pressure plates in my housing that don't even work.

And 150g for paintings now? They were 10g before for quite awhile now. Why was the priced increased?

A side effect of disabling redstone, I didn't realize this would happen -- I'll look at re-enabling pressure plate soon-ish. :)

Minecraft considers paintings and item frames entities. An entity is pretty much a living object -- a mob, a player, etc. The more entities you have, the laggier the server becomes -- so if 3 players had 500 paintings each, the server would get severe performance loss which would affect everyone. It was either increase the price or add a limit -- so I went with the price. I can look into lowering it at a later date, but I would like to see how this feels for now though.

I hope this makes sense!
