Let me preface with this: I miss dueling. I miss the insane combos, the shouting matches in team chats at tournaments. I miss matchups being skill based, not just gear based. I miss the crazy tactics people would come up with, like timing Vanesco and a Meteor. Using Restringo and Lumen to trap someone in the floor. Maintaining a Colorovio shield while trying to frantically heal each other. Timing spells midair to force fall damage onto people. You can still do some of these things, but they aren't the same anymore. What had been a beautiful art form comprised solely of skill and style now feels like an arm wrestle of just brute force.

I propose: remove gear from dueling. When players are dueling, make gear not take effect (or at least an option to have this!) Many people from the Dueling Community are leaving because it isn't fun to duel anymore. Please, I beg of you: remove gear from dueling.

I finally joined a Dueling Class today and I didn't expect to to get one shot from a spell after waiting one hour to start dueling haha.

I think it's a combination of gear and the spell trees that have to be nerfed.

I've never had any skill in dueling. I was always the person who would run around the map. The Professor would often not realise I was still alive then stop the duel - once I popped my head out of behind a tree (I WASNT HIDING...) they'd let us continue (I'd keep running..). Although I am a reasonable level (75) I have common gear, so I die very fast. I 100% support this idea as before I at least had a chance :)

I think we can all agree that systems where everyone had equivalent HP were preferred. Back in 2016, as you progressed in the years your total mana increased (very slightly though, it was 1 point per spell earned) and I personally still think that was the best system. It allowed graduates to be *stronger* than first years but not by an overwhelming amount. Instead, a fourth year who was a highly skilled magician could defeat a graduate who was mediocre at dueling.

I don't think it shud be removed completely as it would render gear pretty much useless as most people dont love grinding for gear 24/7, however I think it should be more like talents, removing health and damage from every gear piece and giving some pieces the ability to do this. This also wouldn't make sense as it would be impossible to balance spell points, mobs, dueling and gear.

Use a different magic system for dueling, the one pre-revelius. You could just have dueling halls and classes warp to a separate world with that magic system on it, where gear didn't affect anything. If gear was to remain it would have to have no health/damage and act as spell trees (but people would still prefer the pre-revelius spell trees to gear).

I 100% support this. I’m a 7th year currently and now with gear I don’t stand a chance. I haven’t bought any gear yet because I’m putting all my gold to my housing because building is something I’m good at and it’s what I want to put my gold too. Putting that money towards gear would ruin my chances of participating in the housing tournament.

I used to enjoy dueling class, I’ve always sucked at dueling, but it was pretty fun still. Now I’m being killed in 1 hit with vermillo. It feels like the system isn’t about who’s good at dueling anymore. It’s who has the top legendary gear.

Not true, it absolutely is still skill based. I may have said that it is not ONLY skill based now, which is true.
I only just started getting good at dueling then gear came in place and I die with 1 hit of vermillo now though :( (I’m a year 7). I feel like skill only matters if you have the top legendary gear it seems.

To be honest, it's 99% gear and 1% skill if you don't have equivalent gear. Even with the same levelled gear, it's still majorly gear-based due to the fact most duelists will use gear to run an insane combo. EVEN IF you're on a completely level playing field, with the same gear and spell points, it's just not as fun as dueling was pre-gear. It's like the difference between hitting each other with big wooden clubs and swordfighting. One's a brute-force test of who's physically stronger, whereas swordfighting is a test of wits, strength, skill, and agility. And right now? It feels like we're whacking each other with wooden clubs.

I'd like to clarify, I am not disrespecting the people behind gear. As someone who was one of the top people naming gear, I contributed a lot to the gear and I deeply respect everyone who worked alongside me. I just don't believe the product we came out with is beneficial.
