Salutations everyone, and welcome back to the 17th edition of The Weekly Owl! You may have noticed that last week, our team did not post any content - this was because we decided it was best to hold off to provide the best content possible. We would also like to wish congratulations to Ivy_Winter becoming our Distribution Lead!

Recent Events

On April 5th, the body of Joel Crestello went missing from the graveyard at his mansion where he was buried. After investigation, the only clues found on the scene were a series of women’s footprints. However, further examination of the scene will continue. As of right now, there haven't been any strong leads as to who took Joel’s body or why, but The Weekly Owl will keep you posted if any new information arises.

On the 18th, Aurorlock Officers Sofia Lockhart, Robert Vulchanova and Will Woodlyn apparated to Tristmoor after receiving intel of McKenna Varulv’s location. Shortly after, they found a confrontation between Abigail Varulv and Arthur Montrane, Robin Varulv’s father. In order to de-escalate the situation, Robert stepped between the two; however, Arthur made an attempt to grab Will’s wand, causing Sofia to cast Paralotum on him and escort him to the Aurorlock cells, where he is still being held. While Sofia was occupied with Arthur, Robert and Will turned to find McKenna Varulv. Without being provoked, McKenna cast Mortiavra at Robert, forcing the Aurorlocks to act quickly. After dodging her spell, Robert was able to disarm and take McKenna’s wand, but in a turn of events, Abigail grabbed McKenna and apparated the two of them away. Thanks to the tracker they had previously implanted, the Aurorlocks found her new location: Walden.

Without a second to spare, the three Aurorlocks travelled to the town where they found Abigail berating McKenna for casting an unforgivable. Abigail and McKenna were quick to notice their presence, leading to a big confrontation. Attempting to escape, McKenna began to run, but just as Robert cast Paralotum to stop her, McKenna was tackled to the ground by Abigail. To diffuse the situation, Robert separated the two once again. On Abigail's request, Will decided it would be best to bring McKenna to the St. Merlin’s Hospital to help improve her health, mental and otherwise. Robert Vulchanova assisted in escorting McKenna to the hospital to supervise Abigail just as much as McKenna. After speaking to the healer, he took his leave, but not before requesting to deny any access to McKenna Varulv's room, with the exception of Abigail Varulv.

The day after, Aurorlock Officers Anna and Will Woodlyn arrived at the Aurorlock Camp. While organizing files, they were shocked to discover that Joel’s files were missing. In order to find the person responsible, they used a potion and surprisingly found that Sara Selwyn, the Dark Mistress, was the criminal at fault. Their investigations informed them that she was in Shade Alley, so the two quickly apprehended Sara. Anna and Will asked her to return the file, but she refused. They entered a heated argument, resulting in Sara throwing Will against a wall, causing severe damage to her head. Afterward, Sara began to speak to Anna, saying that they’re in the wrong allegiance and that their parents wouldn’t want this. Anna responded, saying that their parents were long dead, and that she found the Aurorlocks to be more of a family than the Dark Followers ever were. Once Will was back on her feet, she didn’t hesitate to cast Incarcerum while Anna took Sara’s wand.

From there, they apparated to the Ministry and put Sara in a cell. Sara began talking about how the Dark Hand would show up, so as an extra precaution, Will and Anna called for reinforcements. Aurorlock Officers Casara and Justin, High Phoenix Samuel, and River arrived to assist in guarding Sara Selwyn. They separated into several patrols to ensure maximum security. Since there were rumors of the rest of the Dark Hand arriving, Casara Griffiths went to the Dark Follower Camp to see if she could gather any evidence upon their whereabouts, but Casara was promptly imprisoned and held hostage at the camp by Dark Baron Henry Chimera.

Will Woodlyn went to the Dark Follower Camp to find her, but was held at wandpoint by Henry, who demanded that she put down her wand. Will complied, curiously. He then listed his demand: return Sara, or Casara would perish. Will took out her wand again, and Henry told her to lower it, but Will refused. Soon after, Justin apparated in and began a tense conversation with Henry. Using this as an opportunity, Will snuck past them and searched for Casara. However, once Justin left the camp, Henry commanded Valentine to search for Will. Eventually, Will found Casara, but Henry heard their voices. He went to investigate, and it didn’t take long for Henry to find her and tell her to leave. Although, Will didn’t listen. Springing into action, she cast Flipellius on Henry, which he countered effortlessly, severely injuring her in return. Suddenly, Sunseeker Max Fireheart, High Phoenixes Stardust and Samuel, as well as Shady apparated in with Justin. They managed to outnumber and Paralotum Henry, and Will freed Casara. They left Henry behind and apparated to the Phoenix base, where Max and the others tended to the wounds sustained in the fight.

On the 19th of April, reports came in that Edwin Barrett had cast the killing curse, alerting the Ministry. Will Woodlyn arrived at the Phoenix base and met up with High Phoenix Stardust. Surprised by her unexpected arrival, Stardust inquired what business she had at the Phoenix base, and that’s when Max Pendragon and the Sunseeker, Max Fireheart, showed up. Will informed them of the situation with Edwin, and Aurorlock Officer Robert Vulchanova apparated in as backup. Once the Aurorlocks and Phoenixes finished their discussion, Will and Robert were given permission to hear what Edwin had to say. Since there was no evidence of Edwin casting the curse, there was some speculation that it was a false alarm. Regardless, Edwin was locked up in the Aurorlock prisons. As of right now, Edwin Barrett has been released thanks to a lack of evidence.

On the 23rd, Aaron Morte went to St. Merlin’s hospital to visit McKenna Varulv. While he was there, he began hallucinating and claiming to see his dead sister. McKenna took his wand to stop him from casting while the doctors at the hospital came to take him to a separate room in the hospital. Abigail Varulv asked McKenna to give Aaron’s wand back, but McKenna refused and hid it. Abigail pressed further, and in unprovoked act, McKenna took out the wand and attempted to cast Mortiavra at Abigail. The spell missed, and Abigail fled the scene. Aurorlock Officials arrived shortly after to find that McKenna had been moved into a high-security room. Aaron has since been released from the hospital.

On the 25th of April, Dark Followers, led by Noah Pendragon and Henry Chimera, raided the Ministry in search of the Dark Mistress, Sara Selwyn. She was found being transferred from the cells with a maximum of five Aurorlocks surrounding her, seeming to be led by Will Woodlyn. Casara Griffiths showed up a bit later in support of the Aurorlocks. An argument initiated between Will Woodlyn and Henry Chimera. The Aurorlocks were clearly outnumbered 3 to 1, thus meaning the Aurorlocks had no choice but to hand Sara over. Once Sara was free, the Dark Followers left the premises.

On April 29th, River Woodlyn was lying in bed, when Sophie Woodlyn opened the door for Monique, who had disguised herself as Laura Woodlyn (River’s other daughter). While Sophie was still in the entry room, Monique went upstairs and cast Imperium and Tormentum on River. She soon went looking for Sophie, but Samuel had come in shortly after he and defended Sophie from her attacks. River crawled downstairs and cast Conflamorus twice, leaving Monique’s clothes and body in flames. Monique threw her wand vengefully into Rivers' eye, breaking the wand. Samuel took the two to the Aurorlock cells, where they left Monique and promptly travelled to St. Merlin’s to get River the medical assistance that she so badly needed.

Interviews
This week, the Weekly Owl was able to interview two people active in the recent events. They had many important things to say about what has transpired. We interviewed Aurorlock Adept Matt Campbell, on April 25th.

Q: What were you doing around the grave of Joel Crestello that made you notice something was wrong?

A: I was visiting his grave, as it was just a few days after his death. When I went up to the tombstone I noticed that the burial site was completely dug up and the coffin, along with the body, was gone.

Q: Do you believe the body was stolen?

A: Yes, I do believe so. Although we don’t fully know who did it. The only evidence found at the scene was a trail of footsteps that was suddenly interrupted after the graveyard’s gate entrance.

Q: Wherever the body of Joel is currently, is the situation concerning or even a threat for the wizarding world?

A: It is definitely concerning. I have decided to delay the report’s publication as I believed it would have raised even more tensions or concerns, considering that the deceased had a high position in an alliance. I wanted to release it on the day of the Longbay Landing operation, however, the outcome of that event forced me to delay it even more. As tensions between the factions became, and still are, very high.
What an interesting perspective on the recent events. It’s all very ominous for what’s to come.

For our second interview, we asked Werewolf Elite and Dark Follower Abigail Varulv some questions. Here, she’s commenting on how McKenna Varulv casted the killing curse, Mortiavra, at her.

Q: What do you think were McKenna’s motives to cast Mortiavra?

A: The Healers are working with McKenna in order for her to have greater control over her emotions. There wasn’t any malicious intent; she felt the need to defend herself. That was just the first spell she thought of.

Q: Why did you think sending McKenna to St. Merlin’s was the best option?

A: I tried to heal her myself, but realized that she needed more specialized care. Saint Merlin’s was the first place I thought of.

Q: Are there any other comments you’d like to make?

A: I’m thankful that the Healers at Saint Merlin’s have taken McKenna in as their patient, even though things have been difficult.
