Brilliant Butterbrew Festivities
Feature

Hello, my dear readers, and welcome back to the Daily Diviner! The scent of butterbrew is in the air at the Butterbrew 2024 Festival in Hogsend! The festival has made a return in our favorite cozy town, and players have been enjoying the activities and sights of this event. After exploring and enjoying all the festival has to offer, here are my thoughts and recommendations if you, too, are itching for some butterbrew.

First impressions begin with Hogsend’s entrance and decorations. As soon as one steps foot into the town, one is struck by the vibrant orange and pink banners and booths that have been decorated for the occasion. It is a sight for sore eyes to return to these classic colors in the home of Potterworld’s finest butterbrew. As one walks into town, the booths are the first things to pop out!

Exclusive banners, emotes, and spells are available under these pink and orange booths and, just next to them, are the collectables and our beloved Daily Diviner News Seller. After speaking with Kevin, I enjoyed a fun game of Balloon Darts before running off to work with Barry in the Broomsticks Inn to help out with the kitchen and service. What a spectacular activity! Order Up has returned from the 2024 Anniversary Event with some notable upgrades; check it out for yourself to see the new changes!

In fact, between all of the diverse Carnival Games, it is hard to know where to even begin. Hidden around the corner is Balloon Darts, a game of skill requiring players to aim carefully to pop as many balloons as possible in a short amount of time. The rewards are adorable plushies that are well worth the tickets spent. My personal favorite is the Rainbow Plushie for its vibrant colors, but there are many different types to spend tickets on!

The Food Eating Competition makes my mouth water looking at all of the food choices. Being able to choose between sweet or savory foods brings a lot of depth to the game. You can even choose drinks instead! Not to mention the delectable awards, which appeal to all food lovers.

Dino Dig is in the very back of the festival, but it is certainly not to be forgotten! Diving into Dino Dig will place you into a series of twisting tunnels with large fossils that can be excavated and brought back to the Refinery. Once you have collected enough fossils, you can craft some adorable plushies! My favorite is the precious Pink Frog Plushie.

Finally, Buttership is an engaging game of guessing to find your opponent’s butterbrew before they find all of yours! I was lucky enough to defeat Willow on my first attempt, but it is by no means easy. You have to play with cunning strategy to make sure Willow is the one who loses! The rewards for this are some miniature TNT heads of many different colors.

I also spoke to the Minigames Master, who directed me to plenty of butterbrew-themed minigames, all unique and worth a look! I was of course partial to the parkours, where the Brewery Hop has players traverse through a brewery on top of tankards and equipment. It has three checkpoints, so get ready for a long journey!

After seeing everything the festival has to offer, I have a few tips. My recommendation to all players is to experience Order Up at least once. The staff team worked hard to create a new experience, and the rush of service is worth the wait! Players should also strive to obtain as many plushies as possible from the different carnival games and, if one is so inclined, collect them too! It is clear that a lot of love was put into this event, and I hope everyone has been enjoying it so far. Have a happy festival!

I Ain’t Afraid of No Ghosts
Editorial
Written by Creme_de_Creme

Hello lovely readers and welcome back to the Editorial column! The veil between life and death has been weakening for the past few months. All the work that students have put into keeping the ghosts at bay last October has somehow faltered! The magic must not have been permanent, and Delphine Lune asserts that the curtain between life and death must be more closely guarded now more than ever before. Only graduates are being entrusted with this task as the ghosts of the 9 Hells are stronger than ever.

Last year, a witch’s coven cleverly connected the dots between numerous spectral sightings and an invasion of the dead, all leading to Riddleyard. They sent out a call for help, enlisting wizards and witches of all ages to assist in defeating the dead. There were 9 spectres in particular that required constant battling: Wolfgang, Vultureus, Oceanus, Iskulde, Osirisar, Nycta, Bellok, Sidera, and Ageros.

Nycta was made by a wizard who mutilated and bred Unmagical creatures together until the creature became an unrecognizably hideous monster. Sidera was once a part of the universe when it was still just a babe, yet she was cast out by the light and thrown into the darkness and chaos. Sidera embraced the dark, shaping it into the destructive power that we have come to know as black holes - eating away at all things.

After weeks of combat, the wizarding world managed to claim victory over the dead and reseal the gates of Hell… or so we thought. The magic that once held the gates of the 9 Hells shut has since been lifted, and these 9 spectres seem eager to seek their revenge now more than ever. What makes it even worse is that they have taken their time locked away to hone their skills, making themselves even deadlier than before.

Nycta, for example, has found solace in training fierce dragons to be her pets. Reports say that these dragons are invincible, only capable of being rid of either by killing the eggs before they hatch or once Nycta has been defeated and banished. Wolfgang has been working on expanding his musical tastes, finding that he has the power to change the area surrounding him depending on the music he plays.

Our battle strategists have taken the time to analyse and assess these spectres closely. They left notes in each spectre’s room, letting those who choose to fight know which spells work best against these foes. Some require more transfiguration spells, while others may be weaker against jinx spells. Take heed of these notes, lest you join them in death. This is a warning not to be taken lightly as each of these evil spirits are more monstrous than the next.

This is not a job for the faint of heart, and I wish anyone who willingly enters Riddleyard to join the fight good luck. If you want to save our world, it is time to rally and hunt some ghosts! This has been Creme_de_Creme reporting for the Daily Diviner.

A Magical Twist on Arts and Crafts

Welcome back to the Daily Diviner! With August coming to a close, many students are preparing to return to Hogsworth. Though this means new and exciting experiences, it also means the stress of tests, homework, and strict professors. However, do not fear, as this is the perfect time to pick up a new creative hobby, which you can also practice your magic on! If this has sparked your interest, read on for a few easy-to-start crafts.

Bracelets are a popular fashion accessory, perfect to spice up your outfits or gift to a friend! To begin, it is important to pick the material you want to make your bracelet out of. I recommend thread, which you can weave into different patterns ranging from a simple braid to complex designs.

After creating the bracelet, you can imbue it with your choice of magic! Some people cast spells on it, while others dip it in potions. The most experienced artists can even create bracelets that give the wearer the ability to shapeshift or speak another language. The possibilities are limitless, so do not be afraid to experiment!

If you are looking for something that does not require any special materials, try origami. This paper-folding craft is hundreds of years old and strengthens your hand-eye coordination and mental concentration. The magical version of origami was created by a student at Mahounoshiro, and it has since evolved to be unique at each wizarding school.

Origami is one of the simplest hobbies to pick up, as all it requires is a piece of paper. You can start with an easy design that only requires a few folds and then work your way up to more complex designs. At Hogsworth, it is tradition to soak origami in the Awakening Brew, which will bring it to life! The bigger and more lifelike you want the origami to be, the longer you should soak it. The Awakening Brew is made with coffee grounds, rose petals, arnica leaves, and Fairy dust.

For those who want something more practical, pottery is the perfect art form. These clay-based vessels have been used since ancient times to carry and store items, as well as to tell stories through their beautiful designs. Magical and Unmagical pottery have the same roots, though the ways they are made differ in many aspects.

One of the best sources of magical clay is forests with Unicorns or Lunarcalves. Similar to Unmagicals, you then use your hands to shape the clay to your liking. To harden the clay, most wizard potters use fire spells, but you can also use an Unmagical kiln. After this, the use of the pottery is up to you! Some people use runes, which are ideal for storing unstable things such as spirits or spells. You can also use magical paint to tell amazing stories on the pottery.

Finally, if you are looking for a more laid-back hobby, I recommend Come-Alive Colouring Books! The pictures come to life once they are coloured, and they come in a variety of different themes, making them perfect for children and adults alike. These are the perfect activity to relax you while also being creatively invigorating. The secret behind the books’ creation is unknown (even we at the Daily Diviner are unable to replicate it!), so it is an experience you will find nowhere else.

I hope these activities sparked your creativity! From complex origami to relaxing colouring books, there is a hobby for everyone to try. Do not be afraid to experiment, and keep persisting even if it seems tough! I wish you the best of luck on all your crafts. Thank you for reading, and have a magical day!

End-of-Summer Fun
Lifestyle

Summer is almost over, Daily Diviner readers, which means that the school year will be starting very soon. Worry not! There is still plenty of time to sneak in some last minute fun. Planning activities can seem a bit daunting when you are busy preparing to return to Hogsworth, which is why I have compiled a list of the top five destinations and activities that I have experienced and you can enjoy as summer comes to a close.

Number five is Appleby Village. This location is perfect for students who enjoy quieter vacations and would love to relax and enjoy the cozy atmosphere of this cute village! During the summer, the local vendors set up stands to sell lots of incredible food and drinks. If you love farmers’ markets or sampling different foods, Appleby Village is your dream destination.

Number four is for the students who enjoy hiking and spending their time outside. Goliath’s Guided Tour of Eldham Ridge has been running strong since 1995 and truly encapsulates the beauty of Eldham Ridge and its surrounding mountains. The tour is also a wonderful activity for parents looking for something fun and educational to do with their kids. Goliath provides an outline of the local history, legends, and his own ancestry as he leads you on a trip through the mountains. If that isn’t enough to convince you, there is also the added bonus of getting to pick out a cool rock or gemstone as a keepsake.

For those of you who would rather relax indoors than traverse mountains, head straight to Hogsend and visit Faye’s Fairy Spa–number three on our list–for some pampering! Faye’s spa boasts massages, manicures and pedicures, hairstyling and makeup, and of course a beautiful place to relax in a fluffy robe and drink some tea–all with impeccable service. All of these services are out of this world. I would be remiss not to mention the breathtaking decor which is designed to mimic a lush forest. A visit to Faye’s will ensure you are fully refreshed for the new school year!

History buffs and those looking to connect with ancient magical sites will love visiting option number two, Wighenge, on the edge of Wigtown. There you can admire an awe-inspiring neolithic structure which was erected around 5000 years ago, as well as learn the local history. You might even come across magical archeologists or other professionals examining the structure. Although Wighenge was not created by druids, they did adapt them several thousand years later for their own lunar and solar tracking. As druids were the magical ancestors of modern magical people, it is an opportunity to visit a site important to ancient magical culture and connect with magical history.

Last but not least is my number one pick for end-of-summer activities, Thestry racing! As this is a duo sport, you can form a team with a friend and sign up for a competition. Official tournaments are held every three years, but there are amateur races set up throughout magical England which you can attend. While Thestry racing is much easier if you can see the Thestries–due to seeing the death of someone–it is possible to race even if you cannot. It is recommended that at least one person on the team, preferably the person who attacks the other teams as the carriage driver controls the Thestry, can see the creatures. If you enjoy adrenaline and trying new things, Thestry racing is perfect for you. If you prefer experiencing sports from the sidelines, you can simply attend a match and pick a team to cheer on.

With that, the list of last-minute summer fun ideas comes to a close! Did any of these options catch your eye? If not, do not worry! The magical world is full of incredible places and activities to experience. Read through some other vacation guides or ask around to see what other people recommend, because there will definitely be something for you. Whether you choose to spend the rest of your summer visiting new places or lounging around at home, remember: enjoy it at all costs!
