Hey! I'll post the conversation that happened recently to give further explanation to what inspired this thread.
This thread will have two parts, to hopefully make it easier to review
Part I - Suggestion
I like the newly added progression system. as a concept on it's own. It's visually nice and modern, it matches with the arena seasons and its motivational for players.
What do I not like? That we have at least three rewarding systems right now. I think it became a bit too complex, and unnecessarily rewarding/confusing.
1) Arena tokens - original rewarding system
Pros - Everyone can grind them but higher placements earn a bit more which is a concept I like
Cons - Outdated, people pilled up on tons of ATs with not enough new items to buy, leveling people having to choose between xp and rewards
2) Arena score
Pros - Good for picking MVPs (main purpose), rewards skilled people
Cons - Not so inclusive for less skilled players who might want the rewards (secodary purpose)
3) Progressions
Pros - Seasonal (fresh) rewards, inclusive, probably the best system out of the three, constant motivation to be active
Cons - Random "bribing" rewards, possibly too demanding
*not directly related to arena, but dailies are yet another rewarding system
Suggestion - Merge those systems into one, with all the pros from the three systems
Why? It's just more simple and nice, we can avoid over-rewarding people from all fronts and make it less overwhelming for new people, as well as allowing people to separate cosmetic rewards and collectables from earning XP
Example #1 (radical) - remove ATs and replace them with ACs, remove score rewards (keep them for leaderboard only), and move all the rewards to the progression system which would keep it's visual look, but would be easier to finish if you do well in challenges. I think this is the most fair as it allows everyone to get everything, but is giving a slight and deserved benefit to more skilled people, and it also allows leveling people to get rewards without having to pick between XP or collectables.
Example #2 (less radical) - Keep two systems - one that would be more like progression that rewards attendance and the other system that rewards being in the top4
Credits to @TallBlondeDude who first mentioned that ATs should be reset each season, which I agree with
Part II - General Feedback
Like I already mentioned in the images & many other times in-game and on forums, I hate when PW offers rewards in order to motivate (bribe) players to do a X thing. If X isn't entertaining enough for people to do it on it's own, then that's an issue that needs fixing, not a slap of 5 collectables to buy. With the release of Expeditions, I finally thought that PW grew out of that mindset and it honestly felt very refreshing to me to do activites for the FUN and not 10 collectables like CEs had it, which basically lead to their demise. I always trash reputations, but I must do it again and again and again until the staff team as a WHOLE considers that the criticism I'm giving has meaning, and is not me just hating. The majority of the minority of people who did reputations did not enjoy them at all, they only did it for rewards (and bc of total lack of content). There's also other rewards which are in the gray zone for me, like 8h classes, herbology & wand lore classes etc. I think that there should be a limit to those things.
Why am I doing all of this?
Professions are supposed to get an update, which was teased and talked about for years now. If anything about the new professions/subjects/potions&cooking or whatever it is, is going to have a focus on rewards and unlocking them and so on, then I don't want it. That shows no growth, its basically 2018/19 all over again. I want entertaining systems that are fun to do before anything else, and then I also want systems that promote healthy economy. I'm not saying that they shouldn't have any type of reward, but if it gets washed down to that and people doing it for that, then Potterworld has failed.
Thank you for your time,
_Navyy
TLDR:
Suggestion - Make arena reward systems more compact and thought out
Feedback - Stop using collectables as a way to "bribe" people to do content
