(I'd like to preface this by saying that this might be a duplicate, and I'm sorry if it is. I tried searching for similar posts, but the word "1v1" was blocked because it's too short.)
I think that the 1v1 Arena should be changed to use Default Gear stats instead of the player's equipped gear. That way lower level players still have a chance if they're a good duelist, whereas in the current system you can get beaten in 1 hit if your gear is bad.
This is the way it works in the arenas outside of that minigame (great hall, FFA, etc.) so it only makes sense for it to work like that in there too. Also, I get that high level players will still probably beat low level players just because they have access to better spells, but this will even the playing field at least a little bit.
By changing the gear stats to default for 1v1 Arena, it aligns with similar dueling situations, and gives everyone a fair shot. I understand that players work hard for their gear, but with this current system there's no real way for a low level to beat a high level. Even if you took the best 5th year duelist ever, an average graduate with level 70ish gear would honestly win most of the time.
