Academics Weekly Assignment — August 14th, 2022

Welcome to the Academics weekly assignment for the week of August 14th, 2022! These weekly assignments will give our Professors the ability to showcase some of their lesson ideas here on the website. Each assignment will be posted for a week, in which everyone will be able to read about the topic and respond to the assignment prompt. This week's assignment is "Magical Creature Studies - Leprechauns" created by Dark (DarktheDino).

The assignment is as follows:
Overview
Leprechauns are well-known for their symbolisation of Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day. These creatures stand at a petite height of 15 centimetres and have pale green skin. They bear a similar resemblance to Gnomes, with bright peach-red hair and a matching beard.

Being cheerful but mischievous beings, they are known for pulling pranks or harmless jokes on others. Leprechauns are usually found deep within forests, far away from any human civilization. An encounter with this creature is considered to be incredibly lucky and memorable. If a person somehow manages to capture a Leprechaun, this creature will barter its freedom by granting them three wishes.

Another interesting myth surrounding these creatures is the mystery of Leprechaun Gold. Legend says that Leprechauns can create gold from thin air, which is highly desirable for its unique and magical properties. However, others have disputed the myth by saying that the gold is fake and will turn into dust after a few hours.

Assignment
While walking on a forested path one day, you found a piece of rumoured Leprechaun Gold. What did it look like? What magical properties did the gold contain? Were you able to keep the gold in the end or did it disappear after a few hours?
