Academics Weekly Assignment — May 22nd, 2022

Welcome to the Academics weekly assignment for the week of May 22nd, 2022! These weekly assignments will give our Professors the ability to showcase some of their lesson ideas here on the website. Each assignment will be posted for a week, in which everyone will be able to read about the topic and respond to the assignment prompt. This week's assignment is "Magical Creature Studies - Unicorns" created by Jenn (cqvetown).

The assignment is as follows:
Background
Unicorns are one of the most popular and well-known magical creatures in both the wizarding and Unmagical worlds. These animals are majestic white horses with one horn coming out of their head! However, as foals, they are actually born with a gold coat. They’re known to live within the many forests of Europe. Despite their beauty, many attempt to hunt them due to the fact that they have many uses for their hair, horns, and blood. This is a difficult task though, as unicorns are known to be faster than werewolves at times! It is also considered extremely immoral and a bad omen to drink a unicorn’s blood for its healing and immortality properties. The hair of a unicorn can be used in both wand cores and bandages due to its immense strength. Unicorns typically represent purity and innocence because of their many magical properties!

Assignment
Do you think their symbolism accurately represents them? If not, how do you view them differently?
