Welcome to the Academics weekly assignment for the week of November 7th, 2021! These weekly assignments will give our Professors the ability to showcase some of their lesson ideas here on the website. Each assignment will be posted for a week, in which everyone will be able to read about the topic and respond to the assignment prompt. This week's assignment is "Magical Inventing - Transfiguration Spells,” created by Elizabeth (fobsux).
The assignment is as follows:
Transfiguration is a type of magic that specializes in changing objects. Almost every object can be transfigured and when one is transfigured, the appearance and shape of the object are changed.
There are some limits to keep in mind when practising Transfiguration. The mass and size of the object need to be considered, as larger objects are much harder to transfigure. When transfiguring, your wand movements need to be firm and precise in order to successfully cast the spell.
Transformation is a sub-branch of Transfiguration that focuses on changing an object’s physical features. This sub-branch covers simple magic, such as transfiguring a match into a needle, and more complex, dangerous magic, such as human Transfiguration.
Invent a Transfiguration spell that can help magical folk in their daily life. Include both the incantation and the wand movement for the spell, along with why the spell is helpful for witches and wizards.
