Academics Weekly Assignment — September 18th, 2022

Welcome to the Academics weekly assignment for the week of September 18th, 2022! These weekly assignments will give our Professors the ability to showcase some of their lesson ideas here on the website. Each assignment will be posted for a week, in which everyone will be able to read about the topic and respond to the assignment prompt. This week's assignment is "Potion Theory - Liquid Luck" created by Dark (DarktheDino).

The assignment is as follows:
Overview
Liquid Luck is a well-known and mysterious potion that has existed for centuries. Originating in Ireland, this potion has been infused with the Luck of the Irish, also commonly known as four-leaf clovers. Being a potent but dangerous potion, Liquid Luck grants the user good luck for a short period of time. This makes the potion highly sought after by many greedy individuals who wish to use it for their selfish needs.

In the 19th century, the potion was founded by Pádraig Byrne Sr, who got the four-leaf clovers from Leprechauns while he was doing a black market trade with them. He initially created the potion for his family as he wanted to provide them with wealth and good health. However, the kind-hearted Pádraig eventually decided to share the recipe with the rest of the wizarding world.

The release of the potion was marked as a huge discovery and made a massive impact on the economy. Many traders started selling the potion and it became a common sight in the markets. Unfortunately, this potion was only around for a short period of time before the Ministry of Magicians decided to place a restriction on them. This was because many black market vendors sold fake versions of the potion, leading to many people falling seriously ill.

Being a double-edged sword, Liquid Luck has a dark side that is unknown to many. An excessive intake of this potion can cause an over-reliance which might lead to unhealthy side effects. The potion also makes people greedier and hence commit crimes to satisfy their greed-stricken hunger, making the wizarding world a more dangerous place.

Assignment
Imagine that you have been rewarded with a small vial of Liquid Luck from the Minister of Magicians themself! What do you do with the potion? Did you use it on yourself or sell it for a fortune?
