Bring back old profession system

Bring back the old profession system, or something similar to it! It was a massive and well developed part of the game, and it doesn't really feel like taking it out leaves a hole in the game because it was replaced by the massive and well developed questing system. Still, I miss it dearly! I understand if you don't want to bring it back to it's fully developed level that it was on before, but it was definitely a much loved part of the game that was almost completely taken out. The new system feels more like hobbies than jobs or professions!

I agree to an extent. I believe we should definitely see something similar to the system to master a profession and earn titles and tags and such, the special wands, but maybe utilizing the new system they created to actually craft? It'd be nice to see them flesh out the new system, but I'm sure they wanted to launch the base of the game questing and such before focusing on professions. With the gear system and the coming magizoology profession I'd think they'll create SOME kind of system for profession leveling and mastering.

I believe the intention was to make professions more of a 'thing to do' rather than a proper 'job'. Though, I actually enjoy the new systems we have now; I hated the old professions because it was 5% crafting 95% waiting hours for your item to brew/cook/grow. Though I would like for there to be more of an incentive to cooking and potions, I would prefer this system rather than the old one. IMO, no one really did it for the cool plants and potions and foods you get, but the prefix and wand and hat. Professions right now are ok in my opinion but they should be more rewarding.

I definitely prefer the new professions system over the old one. I'm pretty sure that they are bringing back the old profession collectibles so there's no need to completely bin the new system. And as Joel pointed out, the amount of time it takes to wait for a profession item to finish really made it a chore to do the old system. There are flaws with the new system though, like how there's no real use to them now and you'll probably never use profession items at all except for quests. But honestly those are problems that don't need a lot of time to fix.

Yeah, the waiting was one of the let-downs of the old profession system. I just really hope they do something to make the current one a bit more involved.

I hope at the very least they bring back specialising in professions. Removing that specialisation is what really took away from it and made it feel just empty.

I really loved the old professions system. I hate the one we have now, as there is absolutely no reason to use it imo. The only time I have / use profession items is for quests. But when I've finished all the quests, they may as well just disappear completely as I'll never look at them again.

Yeah you only did the old system for the rewards, but at least you got rewards. You get nothing from professions now. I had no issue with spending hours on a profession, as I knew I was getting a reward for it. I could also pick the profession that I liked the reward the most, which i liked.

Bringing back the old system would give me something else to do, as quests can become slightly boring going back and forth places. This leaves me with nothing to do. I would really enjoy doing the professions again, but with the new ways such as the new brewing system.

I don't think quests are boring, just in my own opinion, but they're going to end at some point and that's the main problem. More people are starting to graduate now, much quicker pretty much than people were graduating before and then what do people do after the quests are finished?

Yeah I feel like bringing back the rewards for each profession (the prefixes, hats, emote packs, and wand apperances) would be really cool and give it some purpose. Maybe you could get these items by making a certain number of things, idk. I also agree more cool/unique potions/cooking items should be added (like a gear chance increase or a mob spawning increase or a mob type health reduction) that would make it so the items are actually useful to lvl 80 max gear players. The cooldowns I am very happy we left behind and I really couldn't care less about profession leveling or the specialization system.

The new potion making system is amazing, but I'm missing Herbology. I'd like to plant seeds and plants with effects were also very cool. As others said before, it's better that you don't have to wait for a long time. I think it's strange that there is the same plant in different levels.

(y)(y)(y)
Better and more fun potions and food (as you said in a recent suggestion)
Profession quests (to get spells, rewards like gold and possibly even the prefixes/hats)
Maybe a way to *sell* potions and food to NPCs to make people want to do it as a way of getting gold
Yeah I feel like bringing back the rewards for each profession (the prefixes, hats, emote packs, and wand apperances) would be really cool and give it some purpose.

I'd like to see some cool stuff in the process of mastering a profession, like doing a parkour in a cave to reach a mystical plant you need in your potion or other obstacles. BUT please don't make them just fetch quests!

Greetings @Mallaidh,

Thank you for taking the time to submit a suggestion! We're happy to see that you're suggesting ideas that could be used to help improve the server, and we hope that you continue to post suggestions in the future!

I've brought your idea up with the staff team, and we will unfortunately be declining this suggestion at this time. This is mainly due to the fact that we feel that the current professions system is more engaging and interesting compared to the old system that was used prior to the Revelius update. It's important that we listen to the players and their feedback, so we decided that the profession rewards will be making a return to the server in the future. We also agree that we need to make the new system more enticing for players, and we think that profession items will become more useful as we begin to release more challenging gameplay. With that being said, you'll definitely see changes being made to the system in the near future - we hope that you understand our reasoning behind the denial and why we'd rather spend time improving the new system rather than reverting back to the old one.

Best regards,
Garrison
