Heyo,
I saw that there is a carriage just across the eastern brigde from the castle and would it be a good idea to have it transport/tp you to the train station? Either by npc or sitting in it.
As a secondary way of getting you there besides the boathouse.
(and/or at the Groundskeeper, since the path from him takes you directly to the gates and the train station if you walk all the way)
You would also be able to go to the castle via the carriage at the train station as well.
I suggest this since there are a lot of first years asking how to get to London and to me it honestly makes sense for them to be able to 'go home' or to London even before year 2 (or year 3 with the London Bound quest).
Sure they can technically swim or walk the very long path behind the Groundskeeper back to the train station and use shortcuts, but honestly the shortcuts are all based on year 2 plus and highly unlikely for a year 1 to find and hassle just to get to London.
All in all I hope this sounds like something that would help out newcomers, give more options for explorers and just an overall nice little addition that would make travel to London a bit easier.
Cheers 😊
