COMMON ROOMS ARE BORING!
It's no secret that the average player visits their own common room less than 5 times, mostly for the initial quest.
Common rooms are a huge part of the HP story and feeling and therefore should be given more meaning and use.
Here are some Ideas myself and players came up with ingame.
- Making House Common Rooms only enterable for members of that house - Common Rooms are for the house they belong to.
players should not be able to enter other peoples common rooms as easily. Maybe make different secret routes or other entrees to them,
this would make people more curious about other common rooms and more interested to visit them. This could be things like, Passwords to enter, Secret paintings, passageways and many more cool things.
- Adding MORE USE to your own Common Room - Common Rooms could be used to collect rewards such as Voting Reward, Daily Reward, minigames and Daily XP. These can normally be collected in /me. However by adding a EXCLUSIVE way to receive them in
the common room would make people more likely to go there and enjoy them.
- Quests?? - Another idea would be to add House-Specific quests in their common rooms. These don't have to be big things but could be 1 for every 10 Levels you get in game. These quests could be similar for all house common rooms but just swapping the names and locations for them (in order to keep it fair between houses). For Example, a Raven could goto their raven common room every 10 levels they hit (10,20,30, etc) and there would be a house master or house member NPC that would ask them to retrieve a specific Raven item or just a house members item. This could reward gold, xp and maybe even house points / AC. Regardless of the reward it is something I believe would make people enjoy the playthrough much more. The quests are side-missions are don't affect the main storyline.
- Minigames?? - Minigames in your house common room would also draw people and FUN! Being able to go to your common room and partake in GRIFFIN TOWER CLIMB or SERPENT SLIDE RACE (random mingame ideas/names) would be a fun way to engage people in their common rooms and get them more hyped about their houses.
- Shops?? - Having HOUSE Specific shops selling robes, wands or any items that are house specific would make people more enthusiastic about their house. EVen the little thing create Hype and altogether give a more wholesome feeling to the Housing System.
- inter-house games?? - Having inter-house competitions and games would enable RIVALRY and fun between houses and players! games such as Races, Crafting Races and etc would enable houses to become a more vital and more ESSENTIAL part of the game.
There are many more options and features that could be added, but common rooms need to be changed and made better, most players agree with that at least.
