My wand stopped working

So I was using my wand when it suddenly left my hot bar. When I look in my inventory it was there, but it didn't work as a wand anymore and only could be used as a normal Minecraft hoe. When I used it like that the texture changed to different store content, before just defaulting to a cage. I can't use my wand anymore and I really don't have any idea how to fix it.
