PotterWorld Museum Society!

I am someone who is happy to say I have watched this server grow from 2014 up until now, and I would really like a place to display my own and everyone elses experiences in PotterWorld in a nice museum on my housing.
I plan to start work on this when I graduate, as I restarted recently and I am close to graduating when I will have a lot more time spare to just work on my housing.
(EDIT: The museum won't be built when I graduate, it will start when I unlock the max plot size)

The museum will be a nice place hopefully, with a café and gift shop like every good museum has.
Also, like every good museum I won't be able to do it alone - that is why I have set up the PW museum society!

To support us, you don't need to donate thousands of gold.
Here are some things I would really appreciate:

-YOUR EXPERIENCES ON THIS SERVER
Sure, I could do a museum completely dedicated to what I have done and my experience on this server but that would be incredibly vain and my memory is nowhere near good enough to do that.
To do this, you can reply to this forum post with your experience or you can write it down in a book and quill and mail it to me.
Further below I will list the sections this museum is planned to have so far so experiences concerning those will be appreciated.

-DONATIONS OF GOLD OR COLLECTIBLES
I feel a little guilty asking about this, but I cannot deny that this will be a very expensive endeavour.
I did say that you don't need to donate a lot to support the museum but still this would be very appreciated and is very much needed.
Not only will we need money for materials, we will likely need money to purchase house fly as this will be a build that will have a lot of time put into it and that time will be greatly cut down by the use of house fly.
What I expect to be the most expensive is the collectibles, as some collectibles can be worth tens of thousands of gold.
If you don't have gold to donate but do have collectibles that you are happy to give, we would really appreciate them but keep in mind we are not forcing you to donate in any way!

-VOLUNTEER BUILDERS
I won't lie: I'm not the best builder.
This will take quite a while to make, especially on my own. Because of that, if you would like to help to build the museum then I would greatly, greatly appreciate your help!
If you would like to help build, then mail me a book and quill or just comment on this post that you would like to build if you have a forums account!
It would be best if you gave a little information about you, especially your time zone as it will be best if we are building together and have a better idea of the plan for what we're doing.
Please don't be upset if we tell you that you cannot build with us, just remember it's a good thing because the museum has so much support already we don't need anymore!

-YOUR IDEAS
Tell me your ideas!
Start a conversation with me on the forums, message me in-game, comment on this post, send me mail, anything!
Tell me about the ideas of how people can help, what to include, what to build - your ideas tell us what you want, and what you want fuels this place!
That's why YOUR IDEAS can be the most helpful donation of all!

Those are the main ways you can help! For a little more information about the museum, here is the sections so far I'm considering including.

-JOURNEY TO HOGSWORTH
This would be a section about the walk to Hogsworth back in early PW where staff would walk you and guide you on the journey to Hogsworth.
If you wanted to share your experience for this one, tell us about:
-what staff walked you there
-if you enjoyed it
-what year/s did the staff walk you down because I CANNOT remember
-if you would like this feature to return

-FAST TRAVEL
This would be a section dedicated to the development of fast travel. Things like the Marrauder's Map, the introduction of fire dust and the more recent Revelius changes.
If you wanted to share your experience for this one, tell us about:
-your favourite form of fast travel
-the years where each thing happened because my memory is TERRIBLE

-CURRENCY
Potterworld's currency has seen a lot of changes. We started out with physical money which we held as items - sickles, gold and knuts. Over time we switched completely to digital currency. There was even book token currency exclusively for buying books!
If you wanted to share your experience for this one, tell us about:
-if you preferred old holdable currency to digital currency
-how you used money back then and now
-how money values have changed over time

-POTTERWORLD SURVIVAL
Potterworld trying to start up an unsuccessful survival gamemode sounds like a fever dream, but it actually happened.
Players bought time turners for 500g from a TARDIS - 500g was A LOT back then - in order to access the alpha version of PW survival. What we didn't know however is that the gamemode would be unsuccessful and the alpha players would be the only players.
Currency had inflated so much at that point that time turners were sold to NPCs for 5000g.
If you wanted to share your experience for this one, tell us about:
-buying the time turner
-playing PW survival
-years, as usual, because i'm stupid
-how you felt when it shut down

-THE WILDERNESS
This is a section dedicated to the old wilderness area, which was replaced by the Revelius wilderness with towns and similar things.
If you wanted to share your experience for this one, tell us about:
-going to the wilderness
-how you felt when it was introduced, and how you felt when it was replaced
-you guessed it: years. I hate years mymindalwaysgoesblanktryingtorememberthem
-what you did in the wilderness

-PROFESSIONS
Although to most of us, you'll think it's weird that professions should be included in a museum where so much of it is old old Potterworld.
The thing is though, Revelius brought in new players and that's new players who never experienced professions.
If you wanted to share your experience for this one, tell us about:
-the profession you specialised in
-how much you enjoyed professions
-how you feel that they're now insignificant
-years, years and more years

-ALLEGIANCES
This would be a section of the museum dedicated to past allegiance events and allegiance leaders! I'm not sure yet whether this would be one section or 3 separate ones
If you wanted to share your experience for this one, tell us about:
-allegiance events you've been a part of
-allegiance leaders of the past
-because i'm bad with years, tell the year this happened if possible

EDIT: Changed slightly when the museum will start being built and added a new section to the plans so far.

The museum could take a while, so you must be patient! Everything you do to support us is MASSIVELY helpful and will help us to speed the whole thing along.

The rough journey of Herbology:
So it all started when I got to level 5 in herbology, somebody told me it was going to be reset for revelius. I had a 5 minute panic attack because I put so much time (About not even an hour xD) into doing this and was super upset, so I grinded herbology. It was very rough, it started out easy, plant, harvest, plant harvest everyone 10 minutes, at the end, it became 6 hours, my plants kept spoiling because I was sleeping when I had to harvest them. After a month or two and 5000-6000 gold spent, I finally finished it, and it was very worth it. I love the emotes and the hats and especaially the prefix. It was a really fun journey and I really enjoyed it!

I hope this helps for the museum!

I'm not a old player, but I do have a lot of good memories on potterworld!

My favourite experiences being classes. Although sometimes they can be very simple, they are the thing I enjoy the most on potterworld. I can be a bit of a nerd sometimes... and I love magic!

I can donate a bit of gold, PM me in game some time!

As for building skills, I'm not the best. I can do basic builds but that's about it. I can possibly help with interior as it's really fun, but I usually take ages to think of and build anything xD

Add a classes section. Their a big part of Hogwarts!

I don't think I was around when staff walked students to Hogwarts. But the journey is still fun none the less. I think it would be nice if this feature returned!

Travel before Revelius was much simpler. Warp Key Bags were my best friends! The Maruader's Map was also very cool. The old Maruader's Map texture looked amazing as well - it would be nice if that was brought back as well!

Again, I was not around when currency were items.

BRING BACK SURVIVAL PLSSSS <3

Honestly, I never went to the Wilderness that much xD Occasionally to kill mobs for professions, but I would usually just buy the items lmao

Professions were probably my second or third favourite thing in potterworld (after classes!), so I was really sad when they said they would be changed. I had mastered Herbology and Potions! Herbology was easy yet expensive, but I really liked the rewards! I recall somebody saying that people would only work on professions because of the rewards. Whilst this is true, at least you got a reward! As for potions, it was really fun too! It took a bit longer, but I really like the hat, emotes, and wand appearance (same with herbology).

The only allegiance event I remember partaking in was the base destruction event, and the live rp "Unusual Alliance" event! I'm sure I've been to MANY more but I have a bad memory so...

This is a super cool idea! I'd love to see what this looks like when complete, and I would be happy to participate if you need me in any way <3

Gosh I feel like you just retold my exact story.

I never got into professions as I thought it was a waste of time and money. After I heard of their reset in revelius, I decided to try as the rewards sounded good. Like you, my plants spoiled because I forgot or was asleep, and I had to redo the same level so many times because of that. Even though I spent way too much gold, it was worth it and I regret missing out on it for so long.

I think it's an amazing idea! I believe there could be an official building (with help of the staff members) and exhibitions about mobs, blocks, items, etc. When I was a staff in a Hungarian server, we built a museum, I made a lot of interviews, summarized them and wrote a lot about the server.
It would be a perfect opportunity for new students to learn about the server and feel as a part of the community. I believe for old students it would be the best place for nostalgy. I think it would also help writing better suggestions based on the experience of players.
I don't know where I could help, but you can count with my support. ^^

PS: I didn't play a lot before Revelius, but I loved the Herbology system. I thought it will stay the same and only the EXP will be resetted. It was fun and I gladly spent a lot of money on it.

Thank you so much everyone for your support so far, I am glad so many people like the idea and it really encourages me to stick to it! My laptop charger broke, but I just got a new one so there was just a couple day delay but I will soon get the max plot size and be able to start building with the help of the very kind people who have volunteered to help out so far :D

I did consider this, but I don't think theres much that could be put in a classes section other than old professors. (zed <333333)
If there isn't many suggestions for a class section maybe we could instead do a staff section that includes a bit about the old professors?

EDIT: Ooh! Actually! Just got a really good idea because someone showed me their really cool assignment - how about a classes section that includes and celebrates peoples O+ assignments?

The Journey to Hosgworth: Through the eyes of a DMA.
Welcoming the soon-to-be Witches & Wizards to Potterworld and then rushing to be the first to greet them was always a thrill. It was great fun trying to get their attention to start leading them on their journey into being sorted into a house. You would cast spells, crouch, punch ( D: ) them, jump in front of them, message them, all sorts!

Then, you would be able to lead them on their way, explaining the different aspects of the server as you made your way through the introduction. Eventually, you would make it to Hogsworth Castle, and you would see some already sorted players standing around as you led thew new player through the courtyard, into the Great Hall and finally to the sorting hat, ready for them to become independent of you and officially start their Potterworld experience.

For me, this was back in the end of 2015 / early 2016, when the Department of Muggle Affairs still existed, and it was the non-staff entry rank into the Potterworld team. Before Potterworld took on the idea of Departments with various teams and sub-teams, and staff members would begin as a Prefect, working their way through the ranks to reach Senior Prefect, Professor, Senior Professor and finally Supreme Mugwump.

This was a brilliant experience, both being led the very first time I joined Potterworld and also having the opportunity to lead people when I became a DMA. However, I think the current system of allowing Newcomers to make their way through the Introduction Quests independently, or with other Newcomers, is just as good as it means they will be able to learn on their own.

I haven't really been around that long so I wouldn't be able to offer much assistance as I wasn't here to see how things were - but I really do like this concept! I'd love to see this finished product in the overworld maybe when you're done with it. I think that'd be really awesome!
