PVP System Suggestions

Was told to create another thread to expand on the idea that @HektorTM had regarding a PVP System.

I wonder if this PVP system could include a separate chat and maybe a cooldown? Perhaps there could be more info such as stats in the GUI too?

PVP Chat
There could be a [PVP] chat that players can access, but it would act like the [Hourglass] chat where it only shows information and players won't be able to chat in it. The [PVP] chat would notify players when a player has enabled or disabled PVP. The enabling and disabling announcements can have a different color, or just a symbol that's a different color such as [!] Psycho has enabled PVP or [!] Psycho has disabled PVP. Though opening PVP chat for talking would be fine, I think that seeing notifications when a player enables PVP could get lost. It would be cool if the PVP chat announced when a player gets killed by another player, too.

Cooldown
The second suggestion is to add two types of cooldowns.
  • The first cooldown is so that players won't be able to disable PVP right after they enable it. Maybe a 5 to 10 minute cooldown between enabling to disabling and the other way around.
  • The second cooldown is when the player respawns - their PVP would be disabled and they won't be able to enable PVP for 5 minutes. This could also cover spawn killing.
Stats
There could also be statistics added to the PVP GUI
  • An updated list of the last 10 kills in the map
  • A top 10 list of players with the most kills or deaths
  • Maybe towns with the most kills?
List of players in PVP mode
There could be an inventory page in the PVP GUI that could show player heads of players who have PVP enabled. When a player hovers over a player's head, information such as their level, kill, and death stats can be shown. Perhaps add their current location to it? Just the name of the town, not their specific coordinates. If that's too much, then maybe a simple list of the player name, level, and location could help out? I think showing that players are in PVP mode would be helpful so that both players can know who to look out for instead of being ninja'd out of nowhere. Perhaps there could also be a red [PVP] prefix above the player's head when you see them walking around?

This is probably more than what HektorTM originally intended or what staff would accept, but I figured that it would be nice to have extra features on top of being able to PVP around the map.

Although this would take a lot of new tech to create, I believe it would be 100% worth it and would make the player experience much better.

Heya @Psycho!

Thank you for taking the time and consideration on making your suggestion! At this time, I'll bring it up to the rest of the Poltergeist team. After it has gone through careful discussion and a decision has been made, I'll return to you with a response as soon as possible, so keep an eye out on your thread for any updates!

I'd like to thank you again and I hope you have a great day!

Hiya @Somnambulist!

Sorry for the long wait! After carefully discussing this suggestion amongst the Leadership team, we have decided to decline it for now. After reviewing the suggestions that would be part of the idea of having a PVP in the Wilderness, we liked most of them and found them to be fun/helpful additions that could improve it. However, we are currently focused and working on other gameplay content that we have planned, so these suggestions would be something we would have to look into at a later date. Additionally, due to the impact it would bring towards gameplay and the time it would take to create this new system, these suggestions, along with the original PVP suggestion, would be something that we would have to discuss again in the future. Depending on where we stand at that point, the decision of some of these suggestions may change.

Regardless of this, we hope that you continue to create more suggestions and share them with us in the near future! Have a nice day!
