Staff and Non-Staff Ranks - What They Are and What They Do

Non-Staff Positions
These positions are non-staff positions, however, they still play an essential role in maintaining the server.

Build
Jr. Builder:

This entry role's responsibilities include assisting other builders with building special-themed builds, structures for the world map and minigame maps.

Staff Positions
Community Management
Jr. Prefect:

Jr. Prefect is the starting rank in the Community Management sub-department Moderation. The responsibilities of these staff members include answering support tickets, moderating chat, aiding students and fellow staff members when in need of help, and overall enforcing the server rules. As a Jr. Prefect, you may be the first person a new player interacts with, so it’s important to remain professional and friendly when it comes down to customer service and never ignore a player in need.

Prefect:
Prefects inherit the responsibilities held by Jr. Prefects and additionally gain more permissions to enhance their ability to moderate and handle a larger amount of situations. They also gain the ability to serve as a mentor to lower ranks.

Sr. Prefect:
Sr. Prefects share the same responsibilities as Prefects but also gain an increased range of permissions to handle more issues. Additionally, with their seniority comes the responsibility of setting a standard for the rest of the team.

Lead Prefect:
Lead Prefects assist the head of the department in managing the team. With the rank comes the responsibilities of Sr. Prefect and more permissions to handle higher situations.

Staff Training:
This side-rank is in-charge of holding staff training sessions, in these sessions they work to ensure consistency in protocol and that professionalism is maintained.

Wizencouncil:
Members of Wizencouncil, manage the website forums and answer questions found there.

Discord Moderator:
Discord Moderators are in charge of enforcing rules and moderating Discord channel chats and voice calls.

Scribe Intern:
Scribe Interns are staff members responsible for writing the pages placed on the Potterworld wikipedia. They are tasked with searching for the information that will be seen by the community, which can be found through their partnerships with the other various Potterworld departments.

Scribe Publisher:
Scribe Publishers inherit the responsibilities of Scribe Interns, as well as assisting the Lead Scribe in making sure that the pages are properly implemented onto the wikipedia. They also have the responsibility of giving feedback and makings sure that all of the Scribe Interns are writing the proper information.

Lead Scribe:
Lead Scribes are the lead(s) of the Scribe team. They help manage the team and assign all of the pages to the Scribe Interns and Publishers. They are in charge of making sure that the day-to-day performance of the team is up to standards, and they also manage the applications, interviews, hiring, etc.

Store Intern:
Store Intern is the entry rank in the Store Team. Members of this team all work together to put out store releases/sales, improve the voting shop & Discord booster perks, and much more. Store Interns mainly focus on projects & tasks in-game and through Discord.

Store Manager:
Store Managers inherit the responsibilities of Store Interns, and they also oversee projects within the team.

Media & Public Relations
WizNetworker:

WizNetworkers plan and organise all content released onto our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) and manage the accounts. This role is also responsible for writing the monthly WizNewsletter and organising server competitions, contests, and giveaways. Some WizNetworkers specialize in Videos. Video WizNetworkers create videos for our YouTube page & Instagram reels. They record trailers, teasers, GIFs, etc. Click here to view our YouTube page!

Expert WizNetworker:
Expert WizNetworkers are the senior members of the WizNetworker team. They are responsible for quality checking the writing of WizNetworkers, organising/hosting our server competitions, & releasing the WizNewsletter.

2D Arithmancer:
2D Arithmancers are artists who understand graphic design. This role is responsible for making graphics such as banners and promotional material, and more.

3D Arithmancer:
3D Arithmancers are artists who understand 3D modelling and texturing. This role is responsible for making banners, artwork, and renders for any project needed on Potterworld.

Skin Arithmancer:
Skin Arithmancers are artists who work on various skin-related projects for Potterworld. They are responsible for creating skins that are used all around the server and our platforms.

Master Arithmancer:
Master Arithmancers are the senior members of the Arithmancer team. These are individuals who are talented in what they do, have a good eye for our branding/style, and are consistently meeting deadlines. They work on basic management & back-end work for the Arithmancer team.

Daily Diviner Writers:
The Daily Diviner team sets aside time in their own schedule to write the articles that you see in each biweekly publication. These articles are held to a high standard that has to be approved by the Lead Producer.

Daily Diviner Editors:
The Daily Diviner team sets aside time in their own schedule to write and edit the articles that you see in each biweekly publication. These articles are held to a high standard that has to be approved by the Lead Producer.

Daily Diviner Producer:
This rank is in charge of producing the Daily Diviner. They hire writers, review articles, and publish the publication biweekly. They’re in charge of all Writers and Editors for the publication.

Artworker:
Those who work on 3D models and textures for the server's resource pack.

Media Advisor:
Media Advisor is the rank above the senior position and below lead. These are individuals who have gone above and beyond in their duties for their respective teams (Arithmancer, Daily Diviner, Potterwatch, WizNetworker) and show a strong understanding of team management. They work closely alongside Media Leads to ensure the department runs smoothly.

Media Lead:
Those in this position are in charge of the management and organisation of their respective team (Arithmancer, Potterwatch, Daily Diviner, or WizNetworker). They aid the Heads of Media when needed as well.

Build
Sr. Builder:

Established builders that know the PW style and the intricacies of being on the PW build team.

Jr. / Sr. Architect:
Established builders that can act as project leaders for various projects on the build team. Serve as a role model for other builders and are experts with their tools and the PW style.

Lead Architect:
This rank assists the heads of the department in managing the team.

Academics
Class Helper:

Helps out in classes. Answers questions, enforces rules, and interacts with the players.

Jr. & Sr. Professor:
This rank is responsible for creating lesson plans and teaching them to students.

Class Design:
Class design is the team that takes the suggestions and feedback of the player base and staff team to make classes and classrooms better. They come up with new interactive ways to teach classes and work to make classes interesting all the time.

Academics Advisor:
Academics Advisors help oversee our mentor program, review and approve interactive lesson plans, give their insights on the department, and help the team improve. Like Academics Leads, they work closely with the Head and Assistant to Head of Academics, and help lead the Academics team.

Academics Lead:
The Academics Leads are responsible for assisting the Head and Assistant to Head of Academics, where applicable, with management tasks. They work directly with members, giving feedback, reviewing applications, and communicating with other Leads to help the Academics department.

Arena Squire:
Arena Squires assist Arena Masters with running challenges and tournaments in-game.

Arena Master:
Arena Masters inherit all responsibilities of Arena Squire, as well as organising and running the monthly tournaments and challenges.

Arena Grandmaster:
Arena Grandmasters are the role models and most senior members of the Arena team. They are responsible for helping mentor Arena Squires and Masters, and are experts on anything Arena-related.

Arena Advisor:
Works hand-in-hand with Lead to help guide the members of the sub-department. Akin to a "first mate" on a ship, the advisor is a high level trusted team member to assist the lead in running the team successfully.

Lead Arena Master:
The lead(s) of the Arena team. The Arena Lead(s) oversee the team and ensure all tournaments and challenges are running smoothly.

Game Design
Lore Keeper:

Lore Keepers write various pieces of work for the server. This includes mob descriptions, location backgrounds, character biographies, stories, etc. They essentially create the world we spend so much of our time enjoying.

Lore Master:
The senior rank of the Lore team. Lore Masters have the same responsibilities as Lore Keepers, however, they will also oversee Lore Keeper projects.

Lore Master Advisor:
Works hand in hand with Lead to help guide the members of the sub-department. Akin to a "first mate" on a ship, the advisor is a high level trusted team member to assist the lead in running the team successfully.

Lead Lore Master:
The lead(s) of the Lore team. The Lore Lead(s) assigns and manages all lore projects, providing feedback to both Lore Keepers and Lore Masters. They also communicate with the Lead Unspeakable(s) in order to organize lore being implemented in game.

Junior Game Designer:
Entry rank for the Game Design team. This rank is expected to do simple implementation whilst learning the ropes on our systems and tech in order to design basic gameplay elements.

Game Designer:
Mid-level rank for Game Design. This rank of Game Designer works with other departments to deliver high quality game content whilst being proficient in tech and design standards.

Senior Game Designer:
Highest rank in Game Design. Senior Game Designers are expected to have an expert level of knowledge of all our tech and a working knowledge of our standards. Utilized for our most complicated game design projects and can be point over other smaller projects.

Lead Game Designer:
Leads over the Game Design Department. Function as managers and project owners of the various game design tasks. Ensures that the content that the rest of the team designs is of high quality and manages the time and tracking of the Game Design team. Leads also manage any performance, payment, and are expected to help the team push the standards and tech to new levels.

Game Design - Engineer Interns:
Engineer Interns is an entry rank focused on learning Magic and MythicMobs. This rank is trained and managed by LeoTheLynx. Expectations are quick learning and self motivated project management. The goal of this role is to train potential candidates up to become full Engineers.

Game Design - Jr. Engineers:
Jr. Engineers are members that succeeded on their training as Engineer Interns. They are responsible to work on PotterWorld projects and requests for Magic and MythicMobs.

Game Design - Engineers
Members of this team are focused around designing the tech around Magic and Mobs around the server, as well as helping Engineer Interns and Jr. Engineers with their respective duties. They will be expected to fulfil the requests by the staff team for any Magic and Mobs designs for any complexity.

Game Design - Sr. Engineers
Sr. Engineers are the responsible for all Magic and MythicMobs content being add to live servers. All projects needs to have a Sr. Engineer+ approval before going live. These members are also expected to fulfil any complex requests for Magic and MythicMobs, as well as lead their own projects.

Game Design - Lead Engineer:
The Lead Engineer is responsible for managing the Engineer team. They will assign tasks to members of the Engineer team, hire new members, conduct one-on-ones, and more. They are also responsible for on-the-job training of Engineers to improve the team's knowledge of Magic, and MythicMobs,

Technology & Development
Dev Intern (Developer):

This is the trial position in the Developer team. The Developer team is broken down into two categories: Web and Java development. Web Developer Interns focus on maintaining our website that we use to create our quests, GUIs and much more, while the Java Developer Intern's focus is on creating their very own minigame.

Jr. Developer:
Jr. Developers inherit more access to the behind the scenes works of Potterworld, including the Core plugin and/or the main website. Jr. Developers have the added responsibility of aiding staff members with most matters that require live tech and they have greater access to more of Potterworld's plugins.

Sr. Developer:
Sr. Developers inherit the responsibilities of their Jr. Developer position and gain more responsibility as well. They are members of Leadership and participate in meetings, discussions and decisions conducted by the Leadership team. They assist in the management of the Developer team and serve as a mentor to the Interns and Jr. members.

Grounds Keeper:
Grounds Keepers are responsible for testing and logging reported bugs both on Discord and on the Potterworld website. However the majority of time in this position is spent testing new gameplay content for the various PW departments, including events, Community Engagements, interactive classes and new plugin updates from the Developer team.

Sr. Grounds Keeper:
Sr. Grounds Keepers help Grounds Keepers in testing and bug reporting as well as helping to coordinate the testing requests. Additionally, they can be testing group leaders; this is where they oversee the Grounds Keepers testing to ensure the subset of quests and content is properly tested, for example, by setting up testing sessions.

Grounds Keeper Lead:
The Grounds Keeper Lead manages the Grounds Keeper team, along with the Head of Technology. They oversee the work of both Grounds Keepers and Sr. Grounds Keepers, offering guidance and help.

Poltergeist:
The Poltergeist’s main responsibility is listening to the players, whether this is on the feedback and suggestions section of the forums, or in-game. They pass this information onto the rest of the team, so it can be discussed and then brought up to the head of the specific department. They also test gameplay and new updates before they are released and leave their feedback. This is all done with the player kept in mind.

Sr. Poltergeist:
Sr. Poltergeists inherit the responsibilities of the Poltergeists. They also organize testing sessions, feedback forms and makes sure the feedback is submitted in an organized matter. They are a link between the Poltergeists and the Leads & Heads of Departments.

Lead Poltergeist:
Lead Poltergeists are the lead(s) of the Poltergeist team. They manage and monitor the team, as well as assist in training.

Head Staff
Each head staff member leads a different department within the team. All head staff work together to make decisions for every department, however the lead makes the final call. Head staff focus on keeping the server a positive place while fostering a desire to help the server grow.

Special Ranks
These ranks are non-staff ranks that are given on special occasions.

VIP:
VIP is a rank given to any non-staff member who we feel has contributed something great to the server or community. This is given solely at the discretion of head staff. This rank cannot be asked for, applied for, or bought. Only a select few people will be awarded this rank and it's rare this happens.
This rank only comes with a prefix in game and a role on Discord.
