Valentine’s and Event Hub – What’s New?
Editorial
Written by Silquer
Edited by gospojken

Hello, dear readers, and welcome back to the Daily Diviner! The Valentine’s event recently ended; in case you missed it and want to be prepared for the future, here is everything you need to know about the 2026 Valentine’s Day Event in Enchanted Valley.

To begin with, players may notice that there is a new way to access events. The Event Hub, announced on February 7th, is the magical gateway to all events from now on! Four gates lead to four iconic seasons of Potterworld events, and the most recent open gate led to the Valentine’s Event. All the festivities are on display here, decorated in swaths of pink and red. In the Event Hub, players are able to purchase collectables and rewards in one place. Seasonal minigames are also found here.

At the very back is the entrance to the Enchanted Valley, where the event quests still take place. Upon entering, it should look familiar to those who have seen it before; the classic Enchanted Valley has not changed in appearance! The iconic fairytale castle, the cozy courtyard, and the forest behind the village are all as they once were.

There are seven repeatable side quests to complete. A classic is Painting Tales, where players create art pieces each day and collect them throughout the event’s runtime. Another recurring quest is Go Fish!, where players are tasked with getting as many fish as possible within a time limit; many players will attempt to catch every fish they can, but it is not for the faint of heart!

Dale’s Delicious Discoveries, similar to Painting Tales, has players helping out with some recipes in the kitchen. There are plenty of things to make, but only a limited time in the event, so this is a priority for many players. There are many fish to catch, art pieces to create, and foods to cook. These are only three of the seven side quests offered, so there is plenty to do!

Of course, boxes of chocolate are still scattered around the valley, and the Storybook Pages found within them play a big role in this event. This year, the pages could be contributed to Magical Storybook buffs that, once unlocked, remained permanent throughout the remainder of the event.

The books included the Book of Challenges, where players could complete minigames in exchange for bonus tokens in minigames, which is great for players who want to get as many rewards as possible. The Book of Fishing is unlocked after playing Go Fish! 10 times and, in exchange, players are given more time to fish in the quest. This is perfect for those who have tried to get every fish! The Book of Hunting gives players more Storybook Pages from chocolate nodes, which can then be exchanged for gold.

For those who played the event this year, I hope you all enjoyed it! I, for one, am looking forward to the return of the event next year. Be sure to keep an eye out for the next event coming soon. Happy questing!

The Dark History of Baybrooke Manors
Server Spotlight
Written by MamaDuckie
Edited by gospojken

From unicorn-filled forests to magical prisons, to portside towns, our world is filled with rich history. Some of that history is talked about frequently, like the history of Portstead: Tales are told of fishermen who went out to sea in order to take up arms against the Kraken that was threatening the livelihood of the town’s residents. There are, however, some places where the history is dark enough that no one speaks of it often enough… and sometimes not at all.

Nestled in the Northern Mountains just west of Antrum lay the Baybrooke Manors, three impressive buildings in the dense forest with a dark history. For centuries, the three manors have sat abandoned, the structures slowly becoming dilapidated over time without people to repair and provide general upkeep on the estates. The homes, built by the first and only inhabitants, are large and impressive structures despite their current state of disrepair, showing off the wealth of the Baybrooke family. These days, the structures are just cradles of dust, cobwebs, and bloodstains, hinting at the dark and gruesome history.

Centuries ago, Oliviér, Louis and Warren Baybrooke, brothers from a highly influential and trueblood family, purchased land in the Northern Mountains. They built their homes and farmland among the dense forest, moving their wives and children in, intending to live happy and peaceful lives together – and for a while they did. At the time, no one knew the reasoning behind the actions of Oliviér, even if they had known it was due to possession. However, even without knowing the reasoning, the haunting reminder that the man had indeed taken the lives of not only his own family, but that of his two brothers was still present in the Baybrooke Manors to this day.

While Oliviér had disappeared after that ill-fated night, rumors had surfaced about the whereabouts of the remains of his late family members. It was said that he buried them in a graveyard nearby, and the ground in which they lay was incapable of growth even to this day. Other rumors floated around that Oliviér himself was in the graveyard as well, his body said to lie in the tomb next to his family. His own fate had never been proven since he’d not been seen since the events that had taken place on the land.

In recent years, a discovery was made. Mind-controlling parasites were the cause of Oliviér’s possession. They had been living underneath the manors and had poisoned the farmland. Then, at some point, they had invaded Oliviér’s body, taking control over it and his mind, and leading to the demise of the Baybrooke family.

Despite what dark history of the land we know, the Baybrooke Manors are shrouded in curious mystery, leaving many to still wonder why it had happened and why it had been Oliviér who had succumbed to the possession instead of someone else. That, however, is a tale for another day. For now, I leave you with the what-ifs, how-comes, and rumors that surround the Baybrooke Manors and the land that they sit upon…

Cooking with Magic
Lifestyle

As spring starts to bloom again, I just want to wish you all a truly magical season. As such, I want to start the celebration by telling you all about one of my favorite hobbies, making sourdough. There is something special about that little living thing you create, that bubbly, vibrant starter. It is alive, full of energy and magic, and it is all about nurturing it, feeding it, and keeping it happy. Honestly, anyone can make a sourdough starter, you don’t have to start from scratch if you don’t want to. You can find one online, or even ask a friend for a tiny jar of theirs to get you going. It is like sharing a bit of magic!

Now, to get you started, I want to share one of my favorite recipes for sourdough milk bread. It is soft, fluffy, and just a little bit special. I will give you the ingredients and steps, but do not worry if you do not have a scale, just be as precise as you can and it will be lovely.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Levain (your little starter buddy)
  • 70 g bread flour
  • 70 g water
  • 20 g sourdough starter
Tangzhong (a silky, milky paste that makes the bread super soft)
  • 48 g bread flour
  • 240 g Whole milk (I enjoy lunar Lunarcalf milk myself)
The Dough
  • 600 g bread flour
  • 200 g whole milk
  • 70 g sugar
  • 24 g milk powder (Optional)
  • 2 eggs (Chicken or Boomslang it’s up to you)
  • 12 g salt
  • The active levain from above
  • 70 g unsalted butter, softened
Egg Wash (for that shiny, golden top)
  • An egg and a tablespoon of water
How to make it:

1. Start your levain
The night before, mix your flour, water, and starter in a jar, cover it, and let it rest at room temp. It will bubble up and double in size. That is how you know it’s alive and happy.

2. Make the tangzhong
Whisk your flour and milk in a little saucepan over low heat until it thickens into a pudding. Let it cool till it looks like thickened milk.

3. Combine everything
Add the cooled tangzhong, flour, milk, sugar, eggs, salt, and your lively levain into a big bowl. Mix it up until it comes together into a shaggy dough.

4. Knead
Use your hand or your wand to knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic. Then, add the butter little by little and keep kneading until it is glossy and stretchy, passing the windowpane test if you want (stretch a tiny piece thin; it should be translucent without tearing).

5. Let it rise
Put your dough in a warm spot until it doubles in size, around 3-5 hours, depending on your room temperature. If it is chilly, feel free to cast a quick heating charm to warm up the room.

6. Chill it
Put the dough in the fridge for about 20 minutes. It makes shaping easier and keeps everything manageable.

7. Shape your loaves
Divide the dough into pieces, form into smooth balls, let rest, then roll into ovals before folding and rolling into logs. Make sure to grease the loaf pan before putting in the dough. Then cover and let them rise again until puffy, about 3-5 hours.

8. Bake
Put your pans into the oven at 350°F. Brush the tops with egg wash for that shiny, golden finish, then bake for about 35 minutes until the loaves sound hollow and look perfect.

Once you pull them out, let them cool a little, slice, and enjoy. There is nothing quite like bread made with love. I hope you enjoy your new journey into sourdough and that your starter stays lively for many wonderful batches ahead. Wishing everyone a spring full of warmth, growth, and delicious moments. Happy baking, and may every bite be filled with a bit of spring magic!

Giving Staff the Spotlight

After many wonderful years working on Potterworld, it’s easy to sometimes forget just how much our incredible staff members do each and every day to keep the magic alive. To celebrate and share their dedication, we thought it would be wonderful to shine a spotlight on some of Potterworld’s finest. This way, you can get a clearer glimpse of the amazing people who have helped shape Potterworld into the magical place it is today!
How long have you been on the staff team?
Droobledore: Hrmm, probably since ... 2013? maybe 2012?
xMye: I've been on the team for 4 years! Will be 5 years this August.
Shijun: Celebrating my tenth year in the staff team! I originally joined to work on the lore, was a Lore Master for some time, then focused on the web services!
What made you interested in joining the staff team?
xMye: It feels like a lot longer, honestly. I was interested in joining the staff team due to my passion to be creative! The first time it hit me I might be interested in joining was from attending written classes, which allowed me to create my own stories! I remember looking through each position and fell upon the Lore team and thought, "this is exactly what I'd love to do". The creative freedom the team allowed me to have when it came to writing was exactly what I was looking for, and the rest is history from there!
Shijun: I think I had a lot of admiration for the gameplay and universe the staff team crafted over time. My experience as a player was very joyful. I poured a lot of time exploring every corner and discovering secrets, so much that I wanted to play a part in it! Creating more and collaborating with the team was a way to "give back" for the fun I was having.
What are your current staff roles?
Droobledore: Let's see:
1. Game design
2. Builder
3. Artworker
4. I mod if I can help
xMye: My current roles are Lead Arena Master and Class Designer.
Shijun: I'm Head of Web Tech! I help with all the web-facing needs and problems, with our tools, our website, or our store.
What type of work do you do in your positions?
Drooble: 1. I'm more of a systems designer, so currently, I'm redesigning the entire way of playing Potterworld, how to progress, how to do professions, how quests work, everything. Being a systems designer means I'm in charge of making sure everything works well together in the new world.
2. Building the world - currently focused on Potterworld 2.0 builds.
3. I make all the offerings in the store, events, and decor and models in the world.
xMye: For Class Designer: I work on new additions for classes! The work can vary depending on the subject, but I'm currently working on some pretty cool additions for some interactive subjects. For Lead Arena: I mainly manage the ongoing with the team, what we release/work on/host, etc. A lot of my work is behind the scenes, making sure we function as best as we can being a small team currently. A personal aspect I try to ensure is that everyone on the team is welcomed, heard and cared for!
Shijun: Over time, we've developed features to enrich the player experience, with the web side of the minigames, the leaderboards, the player profile... All of it still exists today, alongside the typical collaboration with all the teams. A lot of code writing and problem solving!

How much time do you approximately spend on your staff responsibilities each week?
Drooble: ...You don't want to know, I'm on every day for hours every day - I think I've pushed something like over 400-500 new models since November? Something like that.
xMye: My activity definitely depends on my IRL responsibilities, but on average, I can spend up to 10 hours a week (sometimes more if I can) rotating both in-game and out.
Shijun: It's been wearing this design for a few years now, but I think it ages well! I don't think I can give you an estimate of the time spent each week, my contribution varies depending on the needs, some weeks are busier than others!
What do you enjoy the most about your roles?
Drooble: Currently, I think I enjoy just building the new world, for something I built more than 10 years ago... it's nice to finally update it when all the new things and knowledge that we have gained over the years.
xMye: Hmm, that's a good question! I'd say my favourite part for both is definitely the creative side of things. Being able to come up with new ideas and seeing them come to life is always exciting. Though, another aspect is meeting/getting to know new people and being able to showcase my crazy, chaotic side while also receiving the same energy back.
Shijun: My proficiency is with web technology. I make websites, it's not always fun! The best part of my position is being able to apply this skillset to something magical and help players enjoy the game more. It's a unique project!
What do you find most challenging with your roles?
Drooble: I think because we have had certain systems in place for years now, trying to figure out NEW ways to look at them, and design them in a way that honors the old systems but introduces better ways of doing them. Examples are like potions, herbology, magic, etc.
xMye: Ohh, that's a tricky question, but I'd say the most challenging part is facing new situations. This could be anything that I'm not familiar with, and it can be quite challenging to delegate a fix/solution for the matter.
Shijun: Some solutions are harder to implement than others, so I would say the challenge comes from the scale, or the type of experience or tool we try to put together as a team. We are resourceful, though!
What is a favourite memory you have made during your time as a staff member?
Drooble: I think honestly, still watching new players and other community players, helping other players or watching how good people have gotten with magic, a system that was designed in the beginning, or watching people do quests, just seeing people experiencing what we built as a team.
xMye: There are so many of them. Definitely meeting all the people I have so far, but a big favourite that is still fun to look back on is all the unhinged memes I made, and videos. Shout to the 12 dancing princesses of lore video I made.
Shijun: Probably the Christmas events! It’s nothing particular staff-sided, I genuinely love seeing how festive the server looks and gets around the Christmas holidays. I have fond memories of exploring the different castles and locations introduced in the past. The team always does a wonderful job of creating magical storylines and venues, and I think it shines the brightest around Christmas time!
Is there anything more you would like to say to those reading this interview?
Drooble: I think... if anything - I would say that players should know that I know that I've been gone for a bit in the past, but I'm fully locked in and dedicated to reimagining the server from the ground up. I have ambitious plans that we see a new era for PW, and I hope that people are willing to give it a chance!

xMye: I'd like to say that: No matter what happens, small or big, there is always a light guiding you. Everyone is capable of great things, so never give up on yourself, your dreams and your achievements. You'll eventually get where you want to be, no matter how long it takes.
Shijun: Create and share your creations! Whether you like writing, drawing, designing, coding... Whatever your creative outlet is, keep at it! Your imagination is precious, don't lose it! And share your ideas with us if you have any!

I was truly delighted to have the chance to speak with some of Potterworld’s finest for these interviews. I always find it so inspiring to hear what makes each of us unique, because at the heart of it all, we’re all dedicated to making Potterworld as magical and wonderful as it can be.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who kindly allowed me to interview them for this article, and to all the magicals reading this, thank you for taking the time to get to know our lovely team a little better. I hope you enjoyed discovering a bit more about the amazing people who work so hard every day to keep the magic alive in Potterworld!
