Created in October of 2020, the WizNewsletter serves as a way for students and staff to recap on the month's updates. WizNetworkers spend countless hours researching, writing, editing, and implementing each section so that the happenings of the wizarding world do not go unnoticed. SERVER ANNOUNCEMENTS
Earlier this month the Academics department hosted its iconic 24 Hours of Classes! With 23 classes and an exciting tournament, students could enjoy a variety of unique and wonderful classes taught by Potterworld's outstanding Professors. Some of the subjects taught were Astrology and Astronomy, Ancient Runes, Ghoul Studies, Wizarding Fashion, and Mythology! Of course, we can't forget to highlight a few of the more active classes like Dance, Dueling, Wizard's PE, and Flying. The Academics department hopes you all enjoyed these back-to-back classes!
The sounds of laughter and dancing can be heard around Silvermorne, celebrating the release of this month's store items! You can now dance around the ballroom wearing one of the new masks that come in a collection of eight. Is the new fashion not your passion? Celebrate the winter season another way with the new Winter Scenery! Afterward, you can spread holiday cheer by flying through the sky on your Christmas Tree Broom or even skating on the ice with a Pet Polar Bear or Reindeer! Make sure to check out the shop as these are only a few of the many new items coming to Potterworld this season. In further celebration of the holiday spirit, all items will be 40% off until January 1st, 12 am PST. Now is the time to grab a new item that you may have been eyeing or buy something for a friend to celebrate!
To prepare for the arrival of the snowy season and Winter Waltz, a tournament featuring the minigames Sledding, Wand Spleef, and Snowballing landed in Potterworld! The tournament features three different leaderboards in which players can gain points through various methods in each minigame. Players can view their leaderboard standing for each minigame either from the tournaments page on our website or in-game in the Silvermorne Academy Courtyard. With prizes ranging from a temporary Champion prefix, Gold, and Arena Tokens, there's something for everyone to enjoy! Make sure to play as much as you can, as the tournaments will only stay until January 7th!
GAMEPLAY UPDATESThanks to the Game Design Team, Potterworld has had many successful gameplay updates & even more to look forward to! To start off, the Auralocks were seeking help to figure out what kind of magical shop should open up in the wizarding world. Players were able to talk with Petunia Grace in The Great Hall to vote on their favorite candidate until the ballot closed on December 14th. We can’t wait to see what new shop will pop up! Next, Doctor Dott’s Candy Company was excited to share the re-release of Choco Hops in Hogsend. Along with the re-release, players are now able to purchase a Choco Hop Collection Book where they can keep their newly collected Choco Hop cards. Potterworld events are also very thrilling around the holidays! Although there was some unfortunate delay, the 2022 Winter Waltz was released in the later weeks of December for all witches and wizards to enjoy. And finally, the first World Release of 2023 will be Woodshire! The Game Design Team is working hard to make these updates immersive and fun for all!
It's finally time for the Winter Waltz! This year, this enchanting event takes place at Silvermorne Academy, where many joyous holiday activities await until January 7th! Aside from getting sorted into their unique house, players get to partake in a Masquerade Ball. However, your house must first obtain 10,000 lanterns, 100 of which you must contribute to attend this grand event. In addition to the main event, players can also partake in mini-quests assigned by the Advent Calendar! Play through all 25 days and you'll be able to unlock your Silvermorne house's wand. Similar to the European Triwizard Tournament, the headmasters here at Silvermorne have created elemental challenges of their very own! Don't forget to check out the repeatable gameplay, minigames, and rewards waiting for you while the event is still available!
COMMUNITY UPDATES
To celebrate the variety of Winter festivities all around the server, the WizNetworker Team hosted a Holiday Giveaway! In order to participate, players had to unlock their creativity and come up with something that followed the theme of the "uniqueness of snowflakes." There were multiple submissions ranging from players creating their own snowflake designs to building their own renders! By submitting, players had the opportunity to win either the North Pole Staff, Snow Wand Effects, or the Snowflake staff as well as an additional 200 House Points and 200 Potter Points. The submission period ended on December 30th, and the winner will be announced on January 1st. Thank you to all who participated, and we hope you enjoyed!
How could Minister for Magicians, NathanWolf, possibly make the decision of which magical business application should open shop across the British Isles? Luckily, players came to the Minister's rescue. By dispatching Auralock Petunia Grace to Hogsworth, players could vote for the magical business they saw most fit to open up shop. With the opportunity to vote between shops such as "Swrl Yogurt," "The De-composer," "Myles' Marvellous Mixes," and "The Victory Point" were all viable options to choose from and required players to read through descriptions and background checks of the businesses. After making their decision, they had to report back to Petunia with their choice. And the votes are in! Winning with 198 votes out of the 423 casts, "The Victory Point," a shop full of charmed miniature figures and toys, is set to be built in the town of Tristmoor! Keep a look out for the addition of the shop, and thank you to everyone who participated!
The Winter Waltz Tournaments have come to an end and its time to congratulate and celebrate all of the winners! In the Flying Tournament Invisibilia, Enzologies, sergiosmart, and TallBlondeDude came soaring into first place. The Dueling Tournament saw SmellyLilBro, EdenLovesMommy, jacquas, and tillquila fight their way to a grand victory. For the Sledding Tournament SmellyLilBro, _xNadine, Buthane, and jacquas were chilling upon the winners podium. We hope everyone had a wonderful time participating.
