Created in October of 2020, the WizNewsletter serves as a way for students and staff to recap on the month's updates. WizNetworkers spend countless hours researching, writing, editing, and implementing each section so that the happenings of the wizarding world do not go unnoticed. Application Updates
The Technology & Development department is thrilled to welcome the Engineer team into their department as they part from Game Design! Considering our talented Engineers work with coding and closely with our Developers in general, having them in the Tech & Dev department will make it easier to contribute to the server's future, as well as server upgrades. With that being said, they will be returning to their original title of "Curse Breakers!" If you're interested in the unique magic and mobs that help make up the server, as well as tech-related requests for classes, minigames, and world content, we highly encourage you to check out the Curse Breaker application!

SERVER ANNOUNCEMENTS
In perfect theme with the beautiful wizarding school, Galdrakademia, the Norse Store Releases arrived to grace our players with unique, mythological items! Explore the school grounds with an adorable Pet Squirrel at your side, or perhaps you’d rather explore via the sky with the majestic new Viking Broom. What’s better than the hardy Viking Shield Warp Key to match your stunning new broom as you travel from town to town? If you’re looking for a powerful staff to show off your amazing skills with spells, the Gungnir Staff is calling your name! If you’re looking for some more of our traditional holiday items, you’re in luck. Our wintery seasonal items are back, including the fluffy Pet Baby Polar Bear, the festive Christmas Tree Broom, the enchanting Winter Village Scenery, and many more! Of course, exclusive items such as the Snowflake Icon and Festive Hat have arrived for our wonderful Drooble’s Order Subscribers. Make sure to make your purchases before January 18th, as our festive items will depart back to the North Pole until next year! Feel free to check out our Norse items in our online store’s “New Releases” section, and preview all of our cosmetics in the in-game store on our server. Happy holiday shopping!
With the release of this year's Winter Waltz Event at the enchanting school of Galdrakademia, the Store Team was excited to announce the Galdrakademia Store Releases & Sale! To start, all items in our shop were 30% off until December 31st, and other exciting items were released to match the aesthetics of this beautiful school. Obsessed with the school's location? The Yggdrasil Scenery and Galdrakademia Sceneries might be just perfect for your housing plot! If you're looking for some new hats, the beautiful Yellow, Red, and Blue Diamond Headbands are a charming accessory to adorn yourself with. If you want to blend in with some of the Nymph Professors around the school, perhaps the Nymph Crown and Nymph Death Effects would be right up your alley. Finally, step into the magical runic world of the Vikings with the striking Rune Death Effects. If you're looking for something along the classic lines of winter festivity, our Seasonal Store Releases might be right for you, featuring items such as the Candy Cane Wand and Death Effects as well as many more items all the way up until January 18th! Make sure to check all of these items out on our online store, or try them out for yourself in the in-game store!
Our Winter Minigames Tournaments are back with the winter season, featuring our three festive minigames, Sledding, Wand Spleef, and Snowballing! Three separate leaderboards will be presented for each gamemode. In order to gain points, players needed to be the last one standing in Wand Spleef, knock out players in Snowballing, or win races in Sledding. However, this year the tournaments were staggered, with different weekly tournaments. Sledding took place the first week, beginning on the 11th and ending on the 17th. Snowballing followed after, taking place from the 18th to the 24th. The tournament ended with Wand Spleef, which ran from the 25th to the 31st. The winners will be announced and the rewards will be handed out after the conclusion of the Winter Waltz event, but for now, you can view your placements on the tournaments page or in-game at the minigames arena! Our lucky First place winners will receive a temporary Champion prefix, a temporary PvP Crown Hat, a Store Gift Card, some gold, and the White Wand Particles! Our other talented winners will receive various amounts of Gold and Arena Tokens. More information about these games and their maps can be found in the original announcement, as well as the rules for participating. We hope you all had a good time competing!
With the New Year here, it's time to say goodbye to our beloved Art Discord. Originally opened in 2021, the server was bustling with talented artists and a thriving community but has thus dwindled to little activity. With this being said, our Monthly Art Giveaways and Competitions and Giveaways will be moved and hosted on the main Potterworld Discord. We encourage everyone to check out said channels, and continue to share their amazing creativity and talents for all to see! The Media and Build Leadership of course would like to thank everyone who made the Art Discord such a lovely place and remained with us the past few years. We hope to see more from you, and let your creativity run wild! If you have any questions about these changes, you're always welcome to reach out to Media or Build Leadership listed on the original announcement.
GAMEPLAY UPDATESThis year’s Winter Waltz Event invites adventurers to the enchanting Galdrakademia, a legendary school hidden among the roots of Yggdrasil, where natural magic thrives beneath the chill of winter! As they skate across the snowy Fjord and feast in the cozy Great Hall, players embark on seven main quests and multiple daily challenges that reward Snowflakes! They continue to engage in spirited activities like solving Ratatoskr’s daily riddles to unearth treasures, then flex their magical muscles with the Everleaf Guild by challenging friends in merry brawls within The Grove, where festive rules govern friendly combat! Not to mention the exciting minigames like Frigid Fixing and Stargazing, perfect for competing and gathering even more Snowflakes! Every achievement earns players house points and glorious rewards at the bustling marketplace, ensuring that the spirit of winter magic shines brightly throughout this whimsical celebration! So they gather their friends, bring cheer to Galdrakademia, and immerse themselves in a playful blend of lore, quests, and holiday fun!
The Development Team has been hard at work, constantly improving the server. To start, the loading time for certain aspects of the server has been improved greatly, affecting things such as chunk loading time, data loading, and pet teleportation. Party Games have also been updated, and a new game mode has been added. Grab the Ear Muffs is a new game mode similar to musical chairs, but with earmuffs and Greenhouses! On top of this, a new dungeon door has been added to Dungeon Escape, Capture the Pixies now include the introduction of a new Explosive Pixie, and the categories of our various minigames has been reshuffled to ensure they are more balanced and give a chance for other games to be played. Let’s give a big thanks to those who have worked on these amazing updates, and keep in mind that the Development Team has and will continue to work on the server upgrade, making necessary changes with new versions and adaptions. The Game Designer team presented another mid-update patch for our players, with a focus on our server's Discoveries in relation to our vast map! With that being said, a whopping 109 new discoveries have been added, along with 7 new shops across the world with their own unique items and specialties. A new category called "Characters" was also introduced in this patch, adding on to the 3 existing categories. We have to give a big thanks to our wonderful team for their hard work, and we hope you all enjoy this additions; happy exploring!
COMMUNITY UPDATESThe WizNetworker Team was pleased to announce something we haven't done in a long time... a skin competition! Perfect for the holiday season, we encourage players to create their very own Ugly Sweaters to submit in order to win festive prizes such as the Gungnir Staff, the Snow Globe Warp Key, or the Galdrakademia Scenery as well as 300 House Points! All competition guidelines apply, so make sure that you're submitting your pictures showing off your Ugly Sweater creations to the right location, and making it yourself! The competition ends on January 10th, with our winner(s) announced on the 12th, so there's still plenty of time to participate. We can't wait to see everyone's creativity and fantastically ugly sweaters!
A brand new year is here, bringing with it the schedule for our 2025 tournaments! Events such as our classic Flying and Dueling Tournaments will be hosted every month, with some specialty events like our Sledding Rafting, and exclusive Star Wars Tournaments hosted periodically to shake things up. If you're interested in forming teams or preparing your practices, make sure to check out the schedule on the forums. Good luck, and we can't wait to see this year's victors!
The Academics Department presents another 24 Hours of Classes for our players, taking place on Sunday, January 5th, from 12am to 11pm PST! If you're unfamiliar with the concept, our Potterworld Professors will be hosting 24 back-to-back classes at the start of each hour for our enthusiastic students. Feel free to check out the official schedule on the original announcement, and enjoy classes such as Magical Architecture, Art, Wizarding Law, and many more! If that's not enough to get you excited, students who attend at least 6 out of the 24 classes will be able to claim an exclusive reward in the class lobby! Keep your calendars open, and we can't wait to see you there.
