Created in October of 2020, the WizNewsletter serves as a way for students and staff to recap on the month's updates. WizNetworkers spend countless hours researching, writing, editing, and implementing each section so that the happenings of the wizarding world do not go unnoticed. The awaited release of the Scribe Publisher position is finally here! Ever find yourself relying on our wonderful Potterworld Wiki? Well, that's what our hard-working Scribe Publishers dedicate themselves to! If you love writing, enjoy being part of the community, and learning about the server, this position might just be for you. Along with all of our positions, you'll give feedback to your team members, ensuring that the team runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible. SERVER ANNOUNCEMENTS
Congratulations to the Ravens on their impressive victory in the House Cup for the third quarter of 2024, finishing strong with 14,113 points! To celebrate this fantastic achievement, head over to Francine Cades outside of the Great Hall for some festivities! Additionally, we are excited to inform everyone that we’ve rebalanced House points for various activities this quarter: voting streak pack rewards will now earn 1 point less, while many minigames will have increased daily rewards, and we’ve also enhanced the rewards for finding hidden chests. Stay tuned for more updates as Academics evaluates the potential introduction of House points for Extra Credit tasks!
Another quarter has passed, welcoming some familiar and new maps to our minigames map rotation! For those unfamiliar with the concept, our minigame maps rotate every three months, which means that some maps are unavailable to allow others their time to shine. With that being said, this particular rotation celebrates the spooky season with some scarier maps, such as Melting Floor’s Riddleyard! If Flying is more your speed, check out the Dark Prison Escape or the brand new Haunted House Hide and Seek map! There are so many more maps to explore, and we encourage you to check them out before the next rotation. As always, thanks to our talented team of Builders, and happy gaming!
Autumn breezes brought forth the Rustling Store Releases, featuring some on-theme season items for everyone to enjoy! Admire the beautiful colors of fall on the brand-new Maple Broom, maybe with a little Guinea Pig Pet companion along your side. If you’re looking for a new change to your housing to celebrate the season, make sure to check out the alluring Autumn Scenery! Maybe the Cream Bow is more your style for our server fashionistas, accompanied by a majestic Pet Monarch Butterfly. If you’re looking to travel in fashion along with your new look, the Pocket Watch Warp Key is just for you! We have to bring light to some of our older on-season releases such as the Autumn Emotes and the Thyrsus Staff! Our new items can be viewed under the New Releases tab on our online store, and can of course be previewed with all of our cosmetics on the in-game store. Happy shopping!
With Erica’s resignation, we welcome Jake (jake_ft) as our new Head of Community Management! Jake has been an integral part of the CM team and proved his worth tenfold as Assistant to Head. In his new position, Jake will take full management of the Community Management department, ensuring that the community continues to have an enjoyable experience on Potterworld and that all rules and standards are upheld. A huge congratulations to him, and we can’t wait to see what Jake does in his new role!
Halloween approached quickly, meaning it was time for our Halloween Store Releases’ annual appearance to help our community get into the spooky spirit! Our seasonal creepy cosmetics such as the ghoulish Witch’s Broom, the terrifying Jack-o’-Lantern hat, and the mystifying Halloween Wand Lore made a chilling comeback as well! Suppose you’re looking for something more recent. In that case, some brand-new bundles have been introduced including the fungal fright, the Mushroom Bundle featuring the Mushroom Wand, Mushroom Hat, and Pet Mushroom, and the hell-sent Devil’s Bundle with the Dragon Wings and Horns Combo, the Devil Horns, The Devil’s Pitchfork, and the Red Wand Effects! Along with those came the spirit-splitting Soul Death Effects, leaving your opponent terrified as your haunting ghost ascends from your body, and the Witch Wand Effects, putting the most frightful curse on your worst enemies! There’s something for everyone in this release, so check out all the incanting items before they leave on November 16th!
Every witch and wizard has a soft spot for shopping, and what better way to sate that craving than adding a new shop to the server?! The Academics and Class Design teams teamed up to launch the new AC Shop! You can use this shop in-game, using the /me feature, and purchase cool new items with your Academic Credits you receive from attending classes. Not only can you get items such as collectables and plushies, but you can also purchase unique spells and wand appearances as well! Be sure to check the store out by using /me! Let’s give a big thanks to our Academics and Class Design teams for this awesome new feature!
The Academics team is thrilled to unveil the long-awaited Wizard’s PE Revamp and the introduction of six exciting new maps, including the Whales Map, Story Map, Wipeout Map, Corridors Map, Schools Map, and Roleplay Base Map, as well as a revamped Colours Map! This update also brings a host of new features such as leaderboards, checkpoint notifications, and holograms for tracking your progress. A huge thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly on this project; your efforts have undoubtedly enhanced the experience for all players! Stay tuned for upcoming Wizard’s PE classes!
The Arena Season 4 2024 Releases are out, and they are looking like everything we ever hoped for! Not only have quite a few of our current flying, dueling, and seasonal maps been revamped- the Greenhouse Arena, the Prophecy Arena, the Riddleyard Course, the Battle Of Hogsworth, and the Lion’s Den- but a bunch of new maps have been released as well. Check out the all-new Sorcerers Skull Arena, Dojo Arena, Cherry Blossom Arena, and Galaxy Arena. Check out the Arena Token shop, as new items have been added. Some new QoL updates have been added as well, including; Disabling seating on Flying maps - you’ll no longer accidentally sit on the hoops, Increasing the delay time of which players get healed when entering the Arena Halls, Challenges and Tournaments, and Training Sessions, Disabled the use of Expulsio in the Arena Halls region to avoid breaking our cabinets, and many more updates! Tournament Coupons will no longer expire, and can be used anytime! A new Challenge to the calendar. An extra Challenge will be hosted each week on Thursdays at 2pm PST. The Arena Dueling Halls have been decorated for Halloween! Finally, a new ping feature within the Arena Discord is being worked on, that allows players to be pinged for specific game modes that are about to be hosted by the team. GAMEPLAY UPDATESWelcome to this year’s Halloween event, Return to the Haunted Hollow! With Halloween having just passed, the stakes were high as Kevin had mysteriously vanished, threatening the festivities. Ella Williams and her friend Sienna Warwickson join forces in a quest to uncover Kevin’s fate! Participants can engage in a variety of quests marked in their questbooks and earn Boo Bucks through repeatable activities like Applebobbing and the new Phantomphobia Dungeon, where they can learn ghost-hunting skills. The event concludes on November 16th, so don’t forget to check out the festivities before then!
COMMUNITY UPDATESThis month's tournaments brought out some of our server's fiercest competitors, and it's time to congratulate them on their victories! To start off strong, make sure to give a round of applause to our 2v2 Flying Tournament winners, sergquas and jacquas. Fighting their way to the top in the 2v2 Dueling Tournament were buddy365 and Deathlish! It was intense, and we need to give a big thanks to everyone who participated for glory. We can't wait to see you in next month's tournaments and challenges.

As the season comes to an end, we’d like to congratulate the 2024 Season Champions of the Flying and Dueling Challenges this year. Huge congrats to Dismana, Ac3es, and government_h for coming out victorious! government_h came out in first in the Flying Category, Ac3es was victorious in the Dueling Category, and Dismana topped in the Overall Category! Check out the top 6 Leaderboard on the Official Potterworld Forums, and stay tuned for the start of our next season!
The Scribe team has released new patch notes for our official Wiki, detailing updates and new lore pages introduced over the past year. A notable new entry for you to check out include Thestry Racing, where you can read all about this thrilling sport! Another entry we encourage you to take a look at is the Boglog Relocation Act of 1984, where you can step into a new world and learn all about how these creatures affected the magical ecosystem, ending in this species' relocation. Alongside numerous edits to existing pages reflecting server changes, the updates also encompass new commands, quest details, and community management changes. We encourage all players to explore the fresh content and share any lore suggestions you’d love to see in the future!
Witches and Wizards grabbed their quills and dived into a whirlwind of knowledge during this months Academics Department’s all-nighter, 24 Hours of Classes back to back! This magical marathon kicked off on Saturday, October 26th, swinging into action from midnight to 11pm PST, with classes starting at the top of every hour. Attendees who attended at least 6 classes or challenges from this all-you-can-learn buffet scored a splendid special reward in the class lobby!
