A better way to exchange your unneeded gear for gold

The shop system doesn't work for items nobody wants to have or when everybody sells the same stuff.
It would be much more efficient and fun if you could just exchange the gear with an NPC or menu for a low base price and earn some gold through that. That encourages finding gear and also makes it so it isn't just as if not more efficient to just throw your gear away than to add it to your shop.

You can already do that! There's a NPC in a room next to the Great Staircase at Hogwarts which buys mob drops and gear for low amount of gold.

This suggestion has been declined as it already exists! As mentioned in the thread, you can trade your spare gear with the Vendor for Gold. Vendors can be found in almost every town, and the Hogsworth one is located in the Parlour which is right before the Grand Staircase.
