Smth about Gear

Currently, gear is very boring to get and what makes it even more tedious is the fact that the materials you get are always the exact same: wood, metal, gem and material. The fact is, not only are these ingredients the furthest thing you can get from magic, they are also very dull and boring in the real world so making them the main thing in a Harry Potter game doesn't seem too smart - especially due to the fact that stuff like this already isn't mentioned in the book. Now, I'm not suggesting to completely remove the ingredients, just to either modify the way that you have to get them, or the way you can get them and also make them less of a main focus.

Here's my suggestion:
Gear is to be crafted with wood, metal, gem and material and also all other things mobs drops. So for different gear you would have to go to different mobs even if they're the same level. It would add to more people actually going to different mobs to get different gear and also make it seem that bit more magical. I think it would also be cool if wood/gems and that could be obtained in other ways apart from just griding mobs, maybe if they were made less common from killing mobs and you could like click a sparkling bit on a tree to get wood or ore in the ground which would be more efficient but I'm not sure. I just believe at one point, gear needs to move away from the boring, unmagical wood, material, gem and metal.

I actually really like this idea! Spam killing mobs for hours can get quite tiresome and the idea of moving around to farm the wood, gem, and fabrics seems much more entertaining and immersive!

Maybe the wood farming can be incorporated into the harvesting system used for Herbology, which will give players more of an incentive to pay attention to their surroundings to harvest wood. In addition, maybe flowers from herbology can also be added to crafting gear as well

Howdy!

Thank you so much for your suggestion. We really appreciate every idea for the server's improvement. I am going to bring this up with the Poltergeist team to discuss and get their opinions on it. Once we have come to a decision I will respond to let you know. Hope you have a fantastic day!

While I agree that they should incorporate regular mob loot to gear, if they do this I ask that they lower the gold cost of gear. It just is not fair to add another material and make it cost the same (+ gear is already a little to expensive imo)

You can get around 120000 gold just from quests and really only graduate gear would be using no more than 1/2 of that

true but like, what about all of the lower level gear you would need to buy when you are lvling up but still want to do quests and kill mobs? Brooms also cost 70k without buying any mats and I think you are expected to get one of those as well. Sure you get all of this gold from quests but if you are playing normally it trickles over time and I wouldn't blame anyone for spending a lot of it along the way and then having to grind through the slower methods of gold collecting.

First I just want to apologize for the delay on this response. However, I have come to let you know that your suggestion has been accepted! This is actually similar to something we are planning on implementing in the future when we work on gear. We really like the idea of incorporating different mobs into the crafting/materials of gear as it will encourage players to explore and interact with specific mobs more. We are still trying to work out the details for gear in the future, but we will be planning more mob involvement when it comes to materials!

Thank you so much for your suggestion and we'd love to hear any future ideas you have. I hope you have a fantastic day!

Hi @MattyPoltergeist !

I'm back with an update to this suggestion! While we recognise the change isn't exactly the one suggested here, we did remove the need for the items mentioned in this thread. There is no more gear crafting necessary.

Thank you once again for this suggestion, and I hope you have a good day/night!
