I love dogs!! I have 5 of them myself, and just in general they're great. It's pretty hard to say what my favourite would be of all the species alive, but I'd say dogs come close. Also, look at this!!It's a jaragua lizard and it's the smallest lizard in the world!!

It should already be in the right layout when you click the crafting table and then you just grab it? I can't fully remember so it might be a decent idea asking in qc where people may have done the quest more recently!
