2.0 Progress Update - April 2026

Salutations everyone!

Following our Design Pillars blog where we outlined what will guide future gameplay updates, we are now ready to share more about Potterworld 2.0! Those pillars will continue to guide our decisions, ensuring a unified vision for how all the new content ties together. Now, let's jump into the details of the update!

New Content & Regions
Currently working on Potterworld 2.0 is a small and focused “Game Design Strike Team”. This is to ensure we maintain our focus on the quality of the content we are developing.

We have heard many times from the community that the world is vast but mostly empty, having a lot of empty space between content locations and that our utilization of the world is ‘unfinished’. As mentioned in our previous 2.0 Possibilities announcement, we will therefore be working on upgrading our world completely, one region at a time.

What does this mean?
Potterworld 2.0 is a complete reset in terms of gameplay aspects.
All content will be new to our players with:
  • New systems
  • New achievements
  • Many new things to unlock and earn

We want to make sure that there is an abundance of activities and rewards available within one large region.

Each region will have:
  • Its own key landmarks with many secrets to discover
  • New, smaller points of interest to provide a rich and engaging experience
  • Enough content to reach Graduate Level
Thus, as we release more regions, you will be able to choose which region you would prefer to progress in.

“What about the rest of the map outside of Region 1?”
We will be able to freely travel throughout Region 1 when 2.0 releases, but will be limited to world borders that will prevent us from leaving the region until the next regions are ready. Existing movie locations will still be accessible through a teleportation system, but all content currently available will be stripped from them to be included in later Region releases.

“What about old collectibles and spells?”
You get to keep them! As a memento to a time we all shared in the past, we won’t be getting rid of any of those hard-earned treasures, but there will be new wonders to behold for Potterworld 2.0!

Region 1: Hogsworth, Hogsend & London

Region 1 will include:
  • A completely revamped Hogsworth Castle and Grounds
  • Revamped Hogsend
  • New Points of Interests around the Castle Grounds and beyond: “Townlets” (small settlements), ruins, caves, minor castles, and encampments.
  • Revamped London including Diagonal Lane and Privet Lane (currently known as Mundane Lane).
“Why are we being limited to where we can go?”
Cutting our releases into regions allows for our developers, game designers and builders to continue their work on unreleased areas without fear of breaking live content. We want the ability to completely terraform and carve up old areas without destroying anything important that’s already available.

By limiting where we can go region by region, this can ensure that we can really focus our Strike Team to fill every corner of the regions and not move on until we are satisfied that the content in it is enough.

The Wider Update

“What if I’m already a Graduate? Why should I play all this?”
We are actively developing a new achievement system that will have tons of rewards to earn! We have also decided to pair the formerly announced Prestige System with Potterworld 2.0.

As a refresher, the Prestige System will allow you to reset your year, your wand and your quest progress, but gain access to special rewards and gameplay only meant for Prestige players.

This system will be similar to a “New Game+” that many major games have. Exclusive Prestige rewards will include things like forbidden spells or rare cosmetics!
Our goal with this system is to create something for our seasoned Potterworld veterans to work towards after completing the game.

“What new content will be released with the 2.0 update?”
We are not just giving Region 1 a much needed facelift, we are completely redesigning all the secrets, puzzles, systems, mobs, spells, traversal, and flow of the game as well! This means there will be new things to learn and unlock everywhere.

Our goal is not to simply reveal where all the content is. We want the map to be explored, finding out what’s around every corner and at the end of every path! We also want to reward those willing to take the time to play the game and work through the achievement systems.

No piece of gameplay will be meaningless in 2.0: completing a puzzle will earn points towards unlocking a new reward. Defeating a Dark Follower will count towards the combat achievements. Brewing a potion or growing a plant will have its own achievements and contribute to helping you unlock even more rewards.

This is why the Interconnected Systems pillar is a vital guide for us, as our objective is to create an ecosystem where every element is woven together and supports one another.

“When is Potterworld 2.0 releasing?”
The question everyone is asking! As a small team of volunteers passionately working on 2.0, we understand the burning curiosity of when we will be releasing the update. At this current time, we are not ready to share the release date but we do have a target date set in mind that we are diligently working towards. As work progresses and we gain confidence in an achievable release date we will share that with you.

We could talk for pages about what else is coming for 2.0, but we are also actively working out all the fine details and don’t want to spoil too much right now. We are sure you have 101 more questions regarding Potterworld 2.0 and Region 1 to start, so our next post will be about each of the briefly mentioned systems above: Prestige, the Achievement System, Magic & Mob Revamp, Puzzle Systems, and more!
