Academics Weekly Assignment — July 3rd, 2022

Welcome to the Academics weekly assignment for the week of July 3rd, 2022! These weekly assignments will give our Professors the ability to showcase some of their lesson ideas here on the website. Each assignment will be posted for a week, in which everyone will be able to read about the topic and respond to the assignment prompt. This week's assignment is "Potion Theory - Liquid Luck" created by Arne (tqrpiar).

The assignment is as follows:
Background
Liquid Luck is a potion that originated in Ireland, created by a man named Pádraig Byrne Sr. This man used to do black market deals with leprechauns and earned dozens of rare clovers.

He created this potion with good intent, to bring his family wealth, as he came from a lower-class family. Though, it quickly ran out of hand as he started gifting this potion to other families in need.

Pádraig brought his potion to the Ministry, in hopes of getting the recognition and alerting the wizarding community that this potion exists. Though, it was quickly turned down as people started becoming greedy and only wanted more.

The Ministry therefore removed the Liquid Luck from any known source, along with the four-leaf clovers that were used in these potions. Eventually, people created knock-off versions of this potion in hopes of earning money. However, this was only met with the opposite of the original potion, and caused many people to land in the hospital.

Assignment
Would you make use of Liquid Luck? If so, what would you use it for? If it was taken off the market, would you risk trying a knock-off version if you didn’t know the risks?
