Academics Weekly Assignment — March 20th, 2022

Welcome to the Academics weekly assignment for the week of March 20th, 2022! These weekly assignments will give our Professors the ability to showcase some of their lesson ideas here on the website. Each assignment will be posted for a week, in which everyone will be able to read about the topic and respond to the assignment prompt. This week's assignment is "Dueling Theory - Spell Trees” created by Jenn (stellashawty).

The assignment is as follows:
Background
Spell trees are a vital part of the dueling community on Potterworld. It is ultimately impossible to be a successful duelist without personalizing your own spell tree. To access it, you can do /me in-game and select ‘Spell Trees.’ Here, you will be presented with five different branches: Charms, Jinxes, Curses, Transfiguration, and Defensive. Once one of these are opened, there will be an array of different spells within each category. For example, in Defensive you will see Renervo and Epifio, but in Jinxes are spells like Cascamorus and Ignatium.

As you level up and progress in your journey at Hogsworth, you will gain a total of 30 spell points to use in leveling up certain spells in your tree. By increasing your spell points on a specific spell, you can increase your damage dealt, range, radius, and duration, while also decreasing cooldowns. However, you must choose wisely on where to place each point, as there is not enough to max out every single spell. It is recommended to place the majority of your points into the branch that fits your preferred gear or Loadout set to fully maximize your potential as a duelist.

Assignment
Which category do you feel best suits your dueling style? Do you like healing yourself and your teammates, or dealing the damage to your opponent? Which spells do you feel are essential to put spell points into?
