Background
The Nian is a ferocious man-eating beast which is well-known in Chinese mythology. Having the head of a lion and the body of a dragon, it is typically seen with sharp horns on its head. Armed with sharp talons and rows of sharp teeth, it is a terrifying myth to people of all ages.
This creature is said to be asleep in the deep mountains throughout the year, only appearing on the last day of the Lunar New Year. Legend has said that this monstrous creature will creep into town, looking for any wandering humans for its next meal. Upon spotting a stray human, it will pounce on them before gobbling them up quickly.
The presence of this creature caused fear throughout the town, and families bundled themselves up in the safety of their homes. Children were forbidden from playing outside, for fear of meeting this creature while having fun. However, all these changed one day when the weakness of this monster was unveiled.
An ancient tome discovered in an old tomb reviewed that this dangerous creature feared the colour red and loud popping noises. During the next Lunar New Year, every person in town held their breath as they wore red clothes and lit numerous firecrackers in an attempt to scare the monster away.
When the monster came creeping into town that year, it let out a fearful howl before barreling back into the mountains immediately. From that year onwards, wearing red clothes and playing with firecrackers became a tradition every Lunar New Year to scare Nian away.

One day, you decided to head into the mountains to look for the mythical creature Nian. Spotting gigantic footsteps leading into a nearby cave and roars coming from within, you decided to explore it out of curiosity. What happened in the end? Did you manage to spot the creature or was it all just a myth?
