I can't get in into Potterworldmc and I keep getting this. I logged out, restarted my laptop, and nothing is working. I'm worried I won't get my daily stuff. Is the sever currently under maintenance? Or is it something with my internet?

Hello, @FunnyHappy1209,

Unfortunately, this is caused by an ongoing issue on older Minecraft versions and resides with Mojang to resolve. We are unsure when they will fix it, sadly. However, we have acquired a solution from the official Minecraft Discord server that appears to work for people if you would like to try it out.

These are the steps (on Windows):
  1. First, you will want to update your Java 8 version to the latest 64-bit version. For example, you can obtain the installer for this from Adoptium here: https://adoptium.net/temurin/releases?version=8
    • Specifically, you need to click "JRE" in the Windows section and then on the down arrow to the right where it says ".MSI"
  2. After you have downloaded the installer, you can install it by clicking the file and then "Next" until it begins
  3. Once the installation has completed, run your Minecraft launcher and click "Installations" at the top.
  4. Click the three dots on the installation you use when you play on the server and select "Edit"
  5. Press the "More options" button to show the "Java Executable" setting
  6. Click "Browse" and go to the following path in the File Explorer that comes up: C:\Program Files\Eclipse Adoptium\jre-8.0.462.8-hotspot\bin
  7. Once you are in the bin directory, click the "javaw" ("javaw.exe") file. This should set the "Java Executable" setting to use the "javaw" program
  8. Save the setting changes and try rejoining the server
Some people have also reported that the LabyMod 4 client resolves this issue. If that is a preferred way of handling this, you can find a download here: https://labymod.net/en/download.

I hope this answers your question adequately, and please let us know if you need further help!

Best regards,
gospojken

The thought of having to download mods that are unfamiliar to me gives me a little anxiety, but I suppose these will be worth installing if I can play again. Thank you for your help.

Hello again, @FunnyHappy1209,

No worries at all, and I understand it can feel worrisome. I can reassure you that these are safe options to use. The first option I mentioned is simply updating the Java version that is already installed on your computer. That would be the best option if you prefer not installing unfamiliar mods and other software. Please let us know if there is anything more you need help with this, though!

Best regards,
