Greetings everyone!

We are excited to reveal our Minigames Update for February as teased in our recent January Development Blog. In this update we have created a new Party Games mode, reworked our Melting Floor powerups, and implemented a minigames map rating system.

We hope you enjoy these changes!

Party Games

NEW Cauldron Dash
Tick tock, the cauldron is hot! In an all new gamemode called Cauldron Dash, be as quick as you can to not fall into the cauldron. Dash to the assigned block and beat the shortening countdown each round before all other blocks disappear around you!

Bug Fixes & Improvements
We have also made the following changes to Party Games:
  • Changed everyone’s player tag to purple instead of green
  • Tweaked the way that gamemodes are selected in Party Games, preventing gamemodes of a similar nature (e.g. PVP) showing up in the same game
Featured Gamemodes
To celebrate the release of Cauldron Dash, we have added it as a featured gamemode. This is a new addition that means for the next two weeks, all instances of Party Games will feature one round of Cauldron Dash!

Melting Floor

The powerups in Melting Floor have also been reworked in this update. On top of our existing powerups, we have implemented the following changes.

NEW Confusion Bomb
Leave your opponents in a spin when throwing this new bomb! Upon its successful use, this powerup will cause your opponent to do a full 180 on the spot.

NEW Pumpkin Bomb
With this new bomb, you have the power to mask your opponent with a pumpkin, obstructing their vision as they scramble across the floor to see.

NEW Slowness Bomb
Sharing is caring, or so they say! With this new powerup, leave a puddle of particles in your place, causing anyone who is on your tail to instantly gain a slowness effect.

UPDATED Jump
Jump further, with the increased range of the Jump powerup.

UPDATED Jump Boost
Allow all players to reach for the stars with this new powerup. Upon a successful throw, this bomb will leave a puddle of particles that grant 5 seconds of jump boost to all those who run through them.

With the addition of these new and updated powerups we have also made the decision to depreciate the Blinding Bomb and Soulsand Bomb powerups.

Minigames Map Rating System

As initially announced in our January Development Blog as something we were working towards, we’re happy to reveal our new minigame map rating system. How this works is at the end of every minigame you will be sent a message that gives you the option to rate the map you just played on from 1 to 5.

These ratings will then be compiled and we will be able to use this data in the future, in conjunction with the Build team, to understand and analyse which maps are popular with our players, and those which are not. We can utilise this information to help guide us when creating new maps for our minigames.

The same functionality also exists within Party Games, however the rating message is sent at the end of each gamemode, so that players can give individualised feedback. We hope you take a minute to leave your reviews as all feedback is appreciated! Of course if you want to go beyond just leaving a number, more detailed feedback is always welcome on the forums.

A preview of the message sent at the end of the game is displayed below:

Minigames Win Streaks

New to minigames is support for win streaks. Previously this functionality only existed in 1v1 Arena, but we have also introduced it to Flying, Hide and Seek, Melting Floor, Party Games, and Quabbleball.

For each time you win one of these games (including as a team), your win streak statistic will increase by one. If you lose a game, it will reset. You are able to view your win streak statistics for each minigame in the /gamestats menu. We hope to add eventual leaderboards onto the world to show the top placings players in due time!

Miscellaneous Bug Fixes & Additions

  • Fixed an issue where if the original Seeker left Hide and Seek, the new Seeker would be invisible to all other players
  • Increased the minigame rejoin window in the 5th Battle of Potterworld Dungeon and Revenant Gauntlet to 3 minutes
  • Added support for Gauntlet and Dungeon queue messages to be displayed in guild chat if the receiving player has unlocked them
  • Changed the way wins are processed in Melting Floor, if players end the game on the same floor, they will both draw, however if one player is a floor above, they will win
  • Fixed Melting Floor not rewarding any Gold to players if the game ended in a draw with no winners
  • Added a new Hide and Seek statistic to /gamestats which records the amount of Seekers that a Hider knocks back when using their Hider’s Stick
  • Added new Quabbleball statistics to /gamestats which records the amount of Quabble steals and player knockouts that a player has
  • Added a new Melting Floor statistic to /gamestats which records the amount of powerups that players use
  • Fixed a bug where when joining as a party, offline members were queued as well, causing the queue to be filled with ‘ghost’ players

That is all for this update for now, as always we hope you enjoy the new Cauldron Dash gamemode and the new Melting Floor powerups. As always we look forward to hearing your feedback and thoughts! In terms of what is next, we are not too sure at the moment. We will probably try to make a little more progress in our server upgrade, before possibly turning our attention to Quabbleball next month. But that is still to be determined, so stay tuned!
