The Helper NPC named Martin has information on how to get to London. It's currently located at 3519 41 3044 standing by a bench close to the Great Hall entrance in the Courtyard. I think it's in an odd location based on the type of information that it has.
It gives three ways to get to London:
I'll be focusing on the second way that is mentioned above.
A few things to note:
The location that I think would be suitable for Martin is at 3597 41 2997.
One additional suggestion is to rename Martin to Traveller or anything synonymous with travelling like Scout or Rover. It could help players redirect others to this NPC if they are asking to go to London.
It gives three ways to get to London:
- The first way is through firedust, but you have to discover London first before you can use it.
- The second way is through the Hogsend Train Station - but mentions going through the Boathouse with the Jasper NPC,
- This is the description: "The first way is through the train. Go to Hogsend, which is across from the boathouse in Hogsworth. If you want to take the boat across the water, just talk to Jasper. If you take the boat, walk up the stairs to the station but if you go to Hogsend another way, walk past Hogsend and follow the signs to the station, where you can take the train to Kings Cross. Outside of Kings Cross Station is the Knight Bus, which you can use to travel to different areas of London."
- The third way is through the Vanishing Cabinet in the Room of Hidden Things
A few things to note:
- The Jasper NPC is quest locked until after the Year 2 Quest 5 "Journey To Hogsend" Quest.
- New players are likely to go and venture out and want to go to either Hogsend or Diagon Alley. I have noticed players being told to talk to Jasper at the Boathouse if they want to go to Hogsend, but once they are there they find out that the NPC doesn't work for them because they didn't finish the Y2Q5 quest.
- If the Jasper NPC can be unlocked for everyone to use to go to Hogsend Train Station, then that would be great!
- The carriages in front of Hogsworth can also take players next to the Hogsend Train Station.
- The carriages warp was likely added awhile after the current description that Martin uses to get to Hogsend Train Station so that's why it isn't mentioned in it.
- The description above for the second way is somewhat confusing and could likely be simplified.
- "There are two ways to get to the Hogsend Train Station which leads you to London. You can either talk to Jasper who is located in the Boathouse by the lake down the path to your right OR take the black carriages which are located past this long bridge to your left. Once you find the train, look for an open cabin that you can sit in, you will then be warped to King's Cross. Find your way out of the station and look for the Purple Knight Bus in front which you can use to travel to different areas of London and to Diagon Alley."
- Yeah, that description might be long, but it includes the carriages. Maybe separate them so it only talks about heading to the boathouse in one description and then heading to the carriages in another?
