NEW CLASS IDEAS!!! An Addition to My Application :D

Which of these potential classes excites you the most?

  • The first one, I always die with those things! Teach us how to kill them!

  • The second one, to know how to get around Hogwarts.... SIGN ME UP!

  • The third one, I would love a more personalized approach to dueling! 1v1s are the best!

  • Honestly, they were all pretty amazing and I hope I get to attend every one of them!

  • None of these are really my thing, but good luck with your application.

Hello Potterworld Community!

I have a few suggestions for future class ideas. Along with my application for Class Helper with the intention to eventually rise to Professor - I would be more than happy to teach these classes or to help put them together in functionality. I really want to utilize my skills as a professional branding and marketing specialist and longtime MMO/RPG gamer to help grow this server because it is really amazing, and with the growth and future potential I see in the trajectory of this platform I want to be a part of making it better and helping it grow and spread as one of the best servers on Minecraft Java in the eyes of the general public, not just the community that has found and played us so far.

My first class idea, we'll call it Magical Creature Defense Studies. This class I actually got the idea from either Chloe or Ema, both amazing professors on this server, with a field trip class they did for Magical Architecture recently. Basically, we would either teleport out into the wilderness to cover where you can find a certain mob and the best spells to take it out - or we would spawn one in a controlled classroom. Each student would have a chance in groups of 5-10 to battle down these creatures and learn the best way to take them out as well as where to easily find them in the wilderness. This gets them comfortable with that wilderness zone which is important with the upcoming travel changes and open world systems. The students can also be given a class broom for easier navigation if we are able to teleport out into the actual wilderness location or a classroom copy of it - however that works in the system. This will get players used to that environment and the daily mob quests they can complete in them to earn that valuable XP and level up in their years. The name could be something else - but the concept is there. To learn the best ways to battle down each of the mobs in the game. There can be different combinations, large groups vs on big one, all kinds of variations and with you guys constantly adding mobs that is built in content expansion right there for the class.

My second idea is also inspired from this field trip, and it also aligns with getting players used to manual travel and how to get to things using their standard means of travel. We can call the class Wizarding Navigation 101. The class would be exactly as the name implies, it would be a navigation course and sort of a guided tour on areas showing where everything is and teaching players how to reach popular locations without resorting to quick travel. Understanding how things are connected, the paths, going on chest runs, finding towns in the wilderness from the start zone, there are all kinds of locations that could be used. Getting to popular spots like the Chamber of Secrets, the famous Sorcerer's Stone location. Showing how to locate teleport locations. The possibilities are very open ended here, and I would LOVE to be able to spearhead these new classes.

My third idea is a class called Advanced Dueling Tactics and would take place in a new classroom that could be in the Room of Requirement as well which would basically be the Dumbledore's Army location with the dueling strip (the long platform that they stand on, take the steps - turn and duel) duplicated to make between 7-10 of them with invisible barriers that separate the lanes so that spells can't cross over and affect someone in another duel. This would allow for one on one duels where the professor, hopefully me but it could totally be someone else as well, observes and calls out what is being done that is good or bad to help actually teach the community how to get better at dueling and understanding when and why to use certain spells. The current duel class system is fun, but it's mostly just survival of the one with the best spells so up and coming witches and wizards aren't able to really compete much and it just becomes a long wait for your house to be called to get almost immediately killed in a huge ball of lag and craziness. This would have them start in the middle, a notification would come on screen to take the steps to their spots and then would tell them to turn around and begin their duel. This would also support Revelius with the new spell tier system coming and the change in how that talent system works to upgrade your magic and improve your abilities.

I hope you will consider these sincerely as a lot of thought and effort has gone into putting this together. Please, if you disagree or don't like the ideas tell me why instead of just brushing it off - and if you like it, please explain what you like about it and why you'd like to see it happen so I can have that knowledge available if I am able to get onto the staff team. Looking forward to potentially helping grow ideas like these and giving the community something fun and new to do.

Thanks for Your Time,
Zadanthalion

Please keep in mind that the names themselves for the classes are not set in stone - it's the concept of the class itself that's important!

Hey there!

Thank you for taking the time to make this suggestion. We appreciate all of the feedback that we receive on these forums. At this time, we will not be looking at implementing the ideas you have suggested, as we already have classes that cover these topics. A lot of class subjects already exist over a very broad variety, but you might not have seen all of them, as professors themselves choose what topics they would like to teach. Because of this, some subjects might not end up being taught nearly as often as other more popular subjects.

Magical Creature Defense Studies: This can easily be covered in either a DADA or Magical Creatures Studies class, both of which are already subjects on our server.
Wizarding Navigation 101: We already have a Wizarding Geography class that is taught on our server. It is not commonly taught, so it is likely that you haven't seen this class.
Advanced Dueling Tactics: We have an existing class which this would fall under, namely dueling theory.

Once again, thank you for your suggestion!

Adding on to what Ash said above, many of these class ideas can be implemented by the class design team to already existing subjects by making these subjects interactive classes. For your first idea, the one with the field trip, class design could set up a project where you are able to tp your students to a copy of the wilderness in a DADA class or Magical Creature Studies. Therefore, because class design is able to create interactive classes in subjects that already exist on the server, I don’t think adding entirely new subjects is really necessary. I wish you the best of luck on your class helper application though, it seems like you are really passionate about classes and the way that they work.

Yeah it wouldn't need to be a separate class just more so that the function itself as far as going around and actually FIGHTING a magical creature. Like the bogarts or the pixies from the movies. It's always just writing assignments which isn't what I'm suggesting. Also where they are in the wilderness. Even with coordinates it can be very difficult to find these guys out there.

I'd love to see a dueling class like I was describing because as of now I can't learn how to get better because people don't really randomly do them since there isn't a game mode for 1v1s and the classes are just everyone at the same time which is hard to get anything from. You also aren't being taught anything, so you just have to figure it out from trial and error.

And that's awesome that there is a class like that that takes people around and shows them these kinds of things. I wish it happened more frequently!

----

Yes, I am. Haha. I love user experience in development - and the classes are a cornerstone of what is available to the people playing this game. Since there aren't enough random classes or scheduled classes for my own personal tastes in my timezone I'd like to fill that void by offering plenty of consistent classes while I'm playing the game.

We understand your want for interactive classes like you have suggested. Academics is moving towards creating more interactive classes, meaning that a portion of classes will move away from being based on assignments. They may take a while to implement, but they will gradually become more common over time.

If professors pick the classes they teach, they'll be happening all the time if my application gets approved. Haha. Thanks for the dialogue :D
