Greetings Witches and Wizards,

The Technology and Development department is excited to unveil our latest changes to Quabbleball made based on our recent player testing period.

It’s also with much awaited anticipation that we have now delivered on-world Quabbleball practice and are reintroducing Quabbleball tournaments.

The following changes were made to each of the Quabbleball positions, as well as the overall game.

Bruisers
  • Added a minor knockback effect that is given to players when hit off their broom by a bruiser or bludgeon ball
  • Added a stun effect to the bruiser knockback ability preventing players from picking up the quabble for 3 seconds
  • Added 1 second of blindness to players who are hit by a bludgeon ball
  • Reduced shared cooldown to 6 seconds
  • Reduced bruiser stun duration to 1.5 seconds

Defenders
  • Increased the defender box by 9 blocks
  • Enabled casting of spells whilst not mounted on a broom

Passers
  • Enabled casting of spells whilst not mounted on a broom

Searchers
  • Decreased swippet score to 15 from 20
  • Decreased the initial speed of the swippet
  • After each catch of the swippet, it will increase its speed slightly
  • Swapped the Searcher Glove steal ability from right click to drop click

General Changes
  • Added a “YOU” label to the scoreboard to show what team you are on
  • Added a new /help command to show information on all the position whilst in-game
  • Added a message to the start of the game that reminds players to hover on the items in their inventory to see how they work
  • Changed the hierarchy of auto-assigning positions, meaning that if players do not self-select a position the game will automatically allocated roles in the order of bruiser, passer, defender and finally searcher
  • Added a message at the start of every game reminding players to use their compass to select a position
  • Implemented player rejoin support
  • Added an AFK check to the game
  • Increased all broom speeds by 15%

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug where defenders were not facing the correct direction when being teleported back into their defender area
  • Fixed the own goal message not matching the colour of the team who scored

Quabbleball Practice

After countless suggestions over the years, we are proud to announce that we have added Quabbleball Practice to the world.

Players can speak to Professor Wilson at the Hogsworth Quabbleball Pitch to enter the practice tent. Within this tent there are NPCs explaining each of the positions in Quabbleball, as well as the ability to play as them. Whilst on the pitch, players are able to experiment with the different positions’ abilities, try to score goals, and attempt to catch the swippet!

By talking to the Quabbleball Trainer you can select from four positions to practise as, which are as follows:

Bruiser
Prevent the opposing team's passers from scoring.
Upon entering the pitch you will be given 1x ⚄ Trainer Broom and 1x ⚄ Trainer Baton.

Passer
Gain the quabble and shoot it through the opposing team's hoops to earn 10 points for your team.
Upon entering the pitch you will be given 1x ⚄ Trainer Broom, x1 ⚄ Trainer Glove and 1x Quabble.

Searcher
Catch the swippet to gain 15 points! The swippet speed increases the more it is caught in each game.
Upon entering the pitch you will be given 1x ⚄ Trainer Broom and 1x ⚄ Trainer Glove.

Swippet
Enter as the swippet, allowing other searchers to attempt to catch you.
Upon entering the pitch you will be given 1x ⚄ Trainer Swippet.

Unfortunately we will not be adding support for the defender position at this point in time.

There is also a 5 minute cooldown between selecting positions, and players can leave the pitch at any time through typing /spawn.

Nevertheless we hope you enjoy this new addition to the world!

Quabbleball Tournaments

Another long overdue feature is the re-introduction of Quabbleball Tournaments. However we are excited to announce that the wait is over and we will be hosting our first tournament in two weeks time during the weekend of April 28th to April 30th.

Tournaments will run on the last weekend of every month, and they will be active from Friday 12am PST until Sunday 11:59pm PST. During this time players are able to join Quabbleball in /games and compete for the top place on the tournament leaderboard. This leaderboard will be accessible on the Potterworld website and inside of the Quabbleball Practice Tent.

The following rewards will be given to the top four placing players:

First Place
  • Temporary (Quabbleball Champion) prefix.
  • Temporary PvP Crown hat.
  • 500 Potter Points each.
  • 200 House points each
  • 30 Arena Tokens each.

Second Place
  • 100 House points each
  • 24 Arena Tokens each.

Third Place
  • 20 Arena Tokens each.

Fourth Place
  • 16 Arena Tokens each.

Please remember that the Arena rules found here will also apply in all tournaments. We look forward to seeing everyone participate in the first Quabbleball Tournament!

Miscellaneous Bug Fixes & Additions
  • Added page support to the Mailbox, allowing players to view up to 5 pages of mail (this equates to 105 individual items of mail)
  • Fixed players not being able to pick up bound loot if you left the original server where the loot was dropped and then returned
  • Players are now sent a link to minigame rules alongside the "<GAME> is almost ready, you will soon be connected" message
  • Fixed House PVP not saving its setting when modified
  • Disabled Shoot Range in Party Games after noting based on feedback that it was our lowest rating game, we hope to bring it back slightly revamped in the future

That is all for this patch note, we’re extremely excited to reveal these long awaited updates to Quabbleball and hope everyone enjoys them!

As always we are open to hear any and all feedback or suggestions relating to these additions. And a shoutout to our Quabbleball testers (who are listed below) who spent the last month providing feedback to help us improve the game.
