Greetings, witches and wizards of the magical world.

As we all know by now, on May 22nd, 2022, Grux attacked Hogsworth. His reasons, though at the time unknown, became clear as the battle raged on. If you want to learn more about what happened, read on.

When the battle began Grux appeared in the Great Hall, where leaders and inner-circle members of all of the factions quickly surrounded him. Before they could incapacitate him, he summoned an impenetrable barrier around himself. He taunted the leaders, politely asking them to move out of the way as he only came for a single item and didn’t wish to cause any more harm than needed. After a reminder of all of the lives he took and the destruction at Longbay Landing, Grux prepared to unleash his full wrath upon Hogsworth. The leaders stood firm and prepared to fight against him. Before they had the chance, however, Grux vanished, forcing those prepared to fight to chase him throughout the castle.

The chase was a perilous one, as Grux, along with his Humunculi, had destroyed much of the castle, in particular the Grand Staircase. Thanks to various contraptions, brave defenders were able to parkour their way up the staircase to the 5th floor, where more of Grux’s Humunculi awaited them. After blasting through a horde of Humunculi, they found their way up a staircase and into the Divination Classroom.

The ghost of Sara Selwyn, the late Dark Mistress, seemed to also be working for Grux in some way. With prior knowledge that Sara Selwyn was highly skilled at divination, many wizards and witches were able to find her ghost in the Divination Classroom. Witnesses said that Sara Selwyn’s ghost seemed to be controlled in some manner, but we can neither confirm nor deny these reports at this time. After the wizards and witches moved past Sara Selwyn’s ghost, they encountered a sudden drop from the Divination Classroom to the bottom of the building. The staircase was blocked, so the only way to continue was to jump into a safe landing spot. Some of the warriors succeeded, but many did not and weren’t able to continue forward to try and destroy the force of evil that threatened the school.

The brave fighters continued into what seemed to be a trap. We were able to receive information from a witch who was present; the door closed behind the fighters and quickly started filling with water. There were many runes in the room that proved to be the key to escaping the trap. Most of the fighters were able to get out of the trap and room successfully.

After escaping the room filled with water, the wizards and witches encountered yet another ghost: the ghost of Matthew Griffiths, the ex-Chief Auralock. Witnesses said that the ghost of the ex-Chief Auralock said that he was on “strict orders to not let [them] pass.” Just before the ghost of Matt Griffiths was defeated, he escaped and joined Grux.

Matt Griffiths, however, left behind a warpkey that allowed the brave combatants to follow his trail, leading them to the seventh-floor corridor and into the Room of Hidden Things. There they were met with a maze that transformed as those who entered traversed it.

Upon finding the exit of the maze, Grux once again revealed himself and finally exposed his true intentions, showing that he had gotten ahold of the Obscurium. According to the Ministry of Magicians, the Obscurium is a powerful tome with untold power, thought to have been lost to history. With its power now in his control, Grux summoned the three ghosts, now including the ghost of Aure Pendragon, to him as he vanished into the night. Although he had escaped, the warriors had to fight off the ghosts of Aure Pendragon, Sara Selwyn, and Matt Griffiths all at once. The fight raged on for quite some time. Eventually, all three of the ghosts were sent back to the depths of the underworld, where hopefully they shall remain for the foreseeable future.

During this battle, many were lost, bravely giving their lives for causes they believed in. The most tragic loss came as it was revealed that Arabella Pendragon, the Phoenix Embersage, passed away during the 5th Battle of Potterworld in an honourable way. During all the fighting, Miss Pendragon saved many lives. Alas, she was killed by Aure Pendragon’s ghost after protecting a second-year student who had escaped the initial explosions. The ghost was attempting to murder the young Hogsworth student, but Arabella Pendragon sacrificed her life in order to save them. She will be greatly honoured in our memories.

Other known losses are honoured below:
Percival Amoret
Cordelia Bloodworth
Xander Escurum
Petunia Grace
George Litani

As a final warning to our readers, now that Grux has his hands on the Obscurium, there’s no telling what he may be able to do. Everyone should perhaps sleep with one eye open, as it's become clear that nowhere is safe, not Hogsworth, and certainly not within your own home. With Grux having claimed so many lives and with no sign of stopping, who knows what his end goal may be…
