Returning to Pride Festival

Here we are— The Cauldron Inn! I know you have been here many times before, but you are in for a real treat this year… you will never see the tables here empty during Pride month. We can enjoy the atmosphere and rainbow-colored drinks and food later; for now, I have something to show you in the back. Us students have used this doorway to magical London for years, but I swear on the other side, it is nothing like you have ever seen before! Just tap your wand on the brick wall and you will find… the Pride Festival at Diagonal Lane!

This is your first Pride Festival with us at Hogsworth, so let me show you around. Try not to let the splashes of color overwhelm you! Underneath the bright colors, Diagonal Lane remains the same, with all of the same shops (only now flying rainbow flags aplenty). To our right is Carket Market, but we can see that later. Straight ahead is the main attraction: the Pride floats!

Walking past these massive floats is a magical feeling; they are so bright and colorful, imbued with magic to keep them afloat. Seeing so many rainbows always brightens my day, and I love to see the floats meander on by. On the very last float in the procession is someone named Alex, and it looks like they might need help. Perhaps we can speak to them later!

Turning right at the bank leads us back to Carket Market, all dressed up for Pride. There is so much to explore here! Vendors are selling collectables and other Pride items in the back, and just over here, Vixen Van Gogh seems to be recruiting help for Canvas Coordinator once again. Oh, and just ahead, see that banner and canvas on the wall over there? We can paint Pride flags of our choosing to hang up all around the area! I will definitely be doing that later if you want to join me.

I remember seeing Kevin back near the photo background in the market. I suggest we go say hi, as he always seems to have a quest for students to keep us busy! Uh-oh, it looks like Kevin needs our help decorating his float for the parade. What do you say? Should we help him?

That’s the spirit! It looks like Kevin is on a budget, so we should try our best to help out. With the banners made, we need to choose the float decorations. I will let you take over this part; it is your first Pride here, after all! Once you are ready, we can enter the competition. I hope we win!

I hope you had a wonderful time touring the Pride Festival with me! The floats will be up for a while yet, and there is plenty to do around Diagonal Lane and Carket Market on your own or with friends. I will be catching the next bus to Hogsworth. I hope you have a magical time at the Pride Festival!

Exploring the Academics Hall
Editorial
Written by snotflower
Edited by Silquer

Welcome back to the Daily Diviner! In May, the Academics Hall was released, which features a lot to do for both new and veteran students. Read ahead for some of the exciting features of the hall, as well as the opinions of a few prominent players!

One of my favorite parts of the hall is the class leaderboards. There are four: three list the players who have attended the most Flying, Dueling, and Wizard’s PE classes respectively, and one has the overall rankings. I was amazed to see I have been to 503 classes and even more impressed to see how many the top ten players have attended!

However, do not let this intimidate you, as it is never too late to start your Academics journey. For new players that may be inexperienced with classes, the Academics Hall is the perfect place to learn about them in advance! As soon as you enter, to the right there is an NPC that gives a short explanation of what Academic Credits (AC) are, how to see the class schedule, and how to join the class queue.

There are also three tutorials for Potions, Herbology, and Magical Cuisine. By speaking to the Aster Hughes NPC nearby, you can get a miniature experience on what you’ll do in them! It can be daunting to hop into a class with no idea of what to expect, so I definitely recommend giving this a look over.

BlagdenCZ, who is number one on the classes leaderboard with a whopping 3056 classes attended as of the writing of this article, thinks the hall is a valuable addition, especially for newer players. “I wish we had Academics Hall when I started playing here,” he told me. “It would have made training for classes, especially Wizard's PE and Flying, much easier.”

Speaking of which, to the sides and the back of the hall, there are three areas which allow you to practice Wizard’s PE, Flying, and Dueling. These all provide multiple courses or arenas depending on what skill you want to focus on. Both new and older players can find value in these, as there is always something to work on and improve in!

“The Academics Hall is such a great way to get in some Wizard's Pe, Dueling, and Flying practice in preparation for our classes!” said MelonFoxy, who sits at the top of the Wizard’s PE leaderboard with an amazing 262 classes attended!

To the left of the entrance, the AC Shop has finally been given a physical location! Here, you can spend your hard-earned AC on a number of adorable Academics-themed collectables, cosmetics, and banners. In early May, the shop was updated with more class collectables added, so I highly recommend checking it out if you have not already!

Weekly Assignments have also been changed alongside the release. Instead of simply receiving AC, players are now rewarded Weekly Assignment Tokens. These can be used at the Academics Hall claw machine, where you can either win some AC or a special prize! I like this change as it means there is more incentive to complete Weekly Assignments. If this has piqued your interest, you can check out this week’s Weekly Assignment [here].

Finally, the build of the hall is also beautiful, with a massive tree in the middle and an easy-to-navigate design. It certainly feels studious, which is perfect for those who are looking for a place to focus on their school work. “I rather enjoy the Academic Halls!” student fxndomgeek told me, who has attended an amazing 1403 classes! “With so many of my ongoing studies here at Hogsworth, it’s great to have a central go-to spot to ease the stress of such studious workloads!”

Whether you are a new player or at the top of the classes leaderboard, there is something for you here at the Academics Hall. If you have not already, I highly recommend checking it out! Thank you to BlagdenCZ, MelonFoxy, and fxndomgeek for sharing their thoughts, and thank you to the Academics team and everyone who worked on the hall! Have a magical day!

Magical Careers - Magizoologist
Server Spotlight
Written by MintyEagle
Edited by Calliequeen & bluecherub

Welcome to the Magical Career column of the Daily Diviner, readers. Nowadays, there are more job options than ever before, and even more with magic involved. However, it may be overwhelming trying to choose a career path that is right for you. No need to fear, since we are here to cover all different choices, from Magical Criminalist to Wizarding News Broadcaster. In this edition, we will be covering Magizoologists!

Magizoologists study magical creatures and their behaviors. They usually do this to educate the public and convince them that beasts should be protected and not used for profit. In order to study them, Magizoologists will go out to their natural habitat and mark down their characteristics. This career path is good for those with a passion for animals and the desire to conserve them for future generations.

If this job entices the reader, they will be working on their feet outdoors and will get to travel often. Going into magizoology can be very dangerous, as creatures are unpredictable. Even then, they would get the chance to make lifelong bonds with the animals they meet and make an effort for them to live long and happy lives.

The steps to becoming a Magizoologist are only slightly off course for the average wizard. It is incredibly useful to take Magical Creature Studies courses to get a basic understanding of the sort of creatures that are in the known magical world. Otherwise, one can take care of housepets before they pursue larger creatures.

In a day and age where it is impossible to avoid work, one might as well seek pleasure where they can. Everyone is different, and they require different things from their jobs. As we cover a wide range of career paths, hopefully readers can find one that they would enjoy. Until then, thank you for reading the Daily Diviner, and have a magical day!

Pride, Inclusivity, and Us
Lifestyle

Happy Pride Month, Daily Diviner readers! Pride is a significant month for magical and Unmagical LGBTQ+ people and their loved ones. However, the spirit of Pride extends beyond just the month of June!

Pride Month started in 1970 in the United States as a celebration of LGBTQ+ identities and honoring the community in the face of prejudice and discrimination. Seeking changes that would protect our community and improve people’s lives is one of the themes and goals of Pride. Another aspect of the celebration is acknowledging our differences in a positive way. These are some of the reasons why Pride is so important to so many people.

Pride can be significant to different people in many different ways. Pride is special and important to me because it allows me to see and connect with people like me and celebrate other LGBTQ+ folks. While I am unapologetically LGBTQ+ every day of my life, Pride is a unique opportunity to do so in a community with others. Pride is also important to me as it helps illustrate how much progress has been made for the safety of LGBTQ+ people. Because Pride Month is a visible celebration, it provides an opportunity to bring current issues facing the community into the spotlight.

Being proud of my identity and being visibly LGBTQ+ during Pride is also significant to me because seeing LGBTQ+ people when I was younger made me realize that my identity was valid and gave me the confidence to be outwardly LGBTQ+. Encouraging others to embrace their identities and love themselves—LGBTQ+ or otherwise—is a wonderful opportunity.

Even non-LGBTQ+ people are welcome and encouraged to celebrate Pride with the community. It can help send a message: that we are not alone. Acceptance and protection of people’s differences is an issue that concerns everyone, no matter their identity.

Recognizing diversity and inclusivity is in the very spirit of Pride, but this spirit is important to keep in mind all year! Inclusivity can be about many things beyond just LGBTQ+ identities. Inclusion refers to embracing and acknowledging all the wonderful ways humans can be different. It also exposes you to experiences and viewpoints you may not have considered before, broadening your scope. Curiosity and appreciation for the incredible diversity of the world is a great way to grow as an individual through knowledge and empathy.

While the focus of Pride Month is on the LGBTQ+ community, it can also be a starting place for those looking to practice being inclusive to others. This month, take some time to reflect on what Pride and inclusivity mean to you and those around you and to treat yourself with love. Remember to think and act with kindness, and have a wonderful Pride!
