Department Updates - May
Feature
Edited by gospojken

Welcome back to this month’s Daily Diviner issue! We are excited to start this issue with some updates from the Potterworld team departments. Let’s see what they had to say!

Academics - Class Design Projects and Hours of Classes
We have a new Class Design release for Medical Magic! We look forward to seeing you all become accomplished doctors.

Our Sr. Class Designers have been working behind the scenes on a new project as part of 2.0. We're glad to announce our on-world automated classes! You can see some sneak peeks of these in the Anniversary Live Event recording here, or in future 2.0 sneak peeks.

The Academics and Arena teams are currently planning another Hours of Classes event! Keep an eye out soon for more information.

Build - Summer Event Hub, 3 down, 1 to go!
We recently completed the Summer Event Hub as the third event hub in the series. The team did a great job creating a variety of areas once again, including a section for the carnival event, which is one of the brand-new events that we'll likely be seeing in 2027. In collaboration with the Artworkers on a few new models, the build has turned out very nicely and has summer vibes throughout.

We're continuing the focus on 2.0, with Hogsend and Hogsworth progressing well. Be sure to watch the build teasers video that was uploaded on the 24th of May to see a wide range of new areas compared with their current versions! We will have our Autumn event hub starting soon, as the last one of the series.

Community Management - Moderation, Curation, and the 12th Anniversary Live Event
We hosted the 12th Anniversary Live event with a wide range of contributors from across the entire staff team. Thank you to everyone who attended, engaged, or submitted any questions! We hope you all enjoyed the previews and are excited for the update.

The Curator team have been working hard to deliver two of our biggest Expeditions yet, as mentioned in previous DD issues! The first of these is "Void's Edge", which will be hosted in the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled! Once the Void's Edge expedition has been hosted, we will be full steam ahead on creating the Blue Moon Circus Expedition!

The moderation team is continuing to help players and moderate the server, as always! Last month, the staff team answered 75 in-game support tickets! We had tickets come in from all over the world, but the US playerbase still remains the biggest source of support tickets, responsible for 24 of these. This is likely due to the fact that it is the largest portion of the playerbase!

Game Design - May the Fourth & Anniversary Events

The Game Design department released the May the Fourth Event at the start of the month, lasting until the end of the month. They also released the Anniversary Event on May 15, which will last until June 16. Read more about the May the Fourth Event here and the Anniversary Event here!

Media - Plenty of Creative Work, Brand-New Store Releases, and Social Media Planning

The Arithmancer teams have been hard at work creating graphics, renders, and skins in the last month. This includes a heap of skins for our ongoing and upcoming events and graphics for the store releases, events, the Academics team, and more. The 3D Arithmancers have also been working on renders for our upcoming store items.

Our Store team have continued delivering new store releases, starting with the massive Birdsong Store Releases. Among all, this included Mockingbird Animorphus and Kingfisher Animorphus, something we are very excited about since this is the first time in many, many years that we can finally release new animorphi. All thanks to the 1.18 server upgrade! The release also contained many more updates and fantastic new items!

We also released our annual Anniversary Store Releases & Sale to celebrate Potterworld's 12th anniversary! This included seasonal Drooble's Order Anniversary perks and Anniversary Wand Lore. We also hope you enjoyed the one-week 50% off sale we hosted!

Moreover, we published two brand-new YouTube videos this month. Check out the 2.0 Build Teasers - May 2026 and 12th Anniversary Live Event videos for sneak peeks and information about our upcoming massive update!

The WizNetworker team is currently planning how we can release more content on our social media platforms and have some exciting things coming up there in the future! We are also working on our next store release, which will be out very soon. This time, it will be a bit more of an Unmagical theme with a lot of cool items!

As always, our Artworker team has also continued their hard work updating our resource pack and making new models for the Potterworld 2.0 update!

We hope you enjoyed reading about what the departments have been up to for this past month and what is to come! Stay tuned for the next issue for more department updates, and happy continued reading!

Birdsong Store Releases
Editorial
Written by LMNJ
Edited by Silquer

Hello to all the amazing Daily Diviner readers and enthusiasts. In this Editorial article, we will be discussing the newest store releases. The Birdsong Store Releases came out on the first of May. Let us begin, and hopefully, this article does not fly over your heads!

Starting off strong, we are going to talk about the brand new Mockingbird Animorphus! This feathery animorphus allows you to transform into a beautiful mockingbird. I do not know about you, but it has always been my dream to be a gorgeous feathered creature.

Continuing on the Mockingbird theme, there is The Mockingbird Staff. This staff goes amazingly well with the rest of the Mockingbird-themed cosmetics. This staff is elegant yet full of nature and charm. Who doesn’t want to walk around with a mockingbird perched on top of their wand?

Calling all Quabbleball players! Spice up your flying with a brand new Mockingbird Broom. This broom is rooted in nature and has a small companion that will join you on flights around the world. This perfectly matches the rest of the Mockingbird collection.

Next, we have to discuss my personal favorite from the new releases: the quirky and unique Bird Nest Hat. This is perfect for those whose hair is a bird's nest on its own. Also, a mockingbird sitting on top of your head? Adorable!

Then we have two brand new Trail Wand Effects: Mockingbird Trail and Kingfisher Trail. These spice up your look by adding a nice aura around you. The Mockingbird Trail leaves behind a trail of green, yellow, and white particles. The Kingfisher Trail leaves a trail of blue, copper, and white particles, which would look great on someone in the Phoenix allegiance!

There is an awesome animorphus that goes great with the Kingfisher Trail Wand Effects… The Kingfisher Animporhus! With this cosmetic, you can transform yourself into the most spectacular and elegant bird. The blue and copper colors really stand out and make you utterly unique, if you don’t mind the feathers…

Now, on a darker side… the Bird Death Effects! This cosmetic gives the player a colorful and unique way to leave the world. Birds will set flight where you last stood! It might be a bit grim, but if I could choose how to leave this world, it would be in a beautiful show of birds!

Before the Birdsong Store Releases, there were already two available pets in the store: Pet Mockingbird and Pet Kingfisher. They were recently upgraded with new animations that make them look better than before! These two pets, as well as the Pet Pyrkaon Pup and the Pet Talamyros, have also recently been renewed with brand new sounds. So, if you already have any of these four pets, make sure to look at them next time you are around to hear their new and improved sounds!

Wow, weren’t these new releases just… pheasant? Get it? Ah, oh well, hopefully you enjoyed these super cool Birdsong releases. The Store team really went all out with this one, and I hope everyone can enjoy it as much as I do. I also cannot wait to see what they cook up next. Until next time, thank you for reading, and I will see you again soon. Hopefully everyone has a great day and not a fowl one… Okay, okay. I will stop with the bird jokes!

A Year of Expeditions in Review
Server Spotlight
Written by Silquer
Edited by gospojken

Hello, dear readers, and welcome back to the Editorial column of the Daily Diviner. The Curator team has now passed their one-year anniversary! It has been a successful year of bringing the community together through Expeditions, and it has been wonderful watching the team come into its own. In honor of the one-year anniversary, I had the pleasure of interviewing the Sr. Curators Buttery_Flapjack (Aviva) and ParacosmicTelly (Telly) about the team’s inner workings and the improvements the team has seen so far.

Both Aviva and Telly have been on the team since September of 2025 and have worked on some big projects since then! With how intricate and involved Expeditions are, it makes one wonder how the Curators even begin the planning process. Thankfully, our lovely Curators shed some light on the process! Aviva said:
I tend to force my fellow Sr. Curator, Telly, to listen to my late-night ramblings until an idea takes form. I usually base my initial ideas on themes or games that I have played and liked. For instance, the Murder Mystery Expedition had some interactive features and activity concepts based on horror games I played when I was younger. As the idea becomes more mature, I consider elements players have asked for and quality-of-life elements that would help improve the replayability and flow of the Expedition. We love looking for more ways to make them more intricate and alive! Most of all, we focus on creating a live event that creates an enjoyable community experience that players can look forward to.

Community-centered seems to be a core idea in the creation process. Telly added on:
Planning usually starts with a simple idea: a murder mystery, the minotaur's labyrinth, that sort of thing. Folks who want to work on it will jump in and start fleshing it out: what do the gameplay mechanics look like? What builds do we need? Do we need to request anything from the other departments, like new skins, models, builds, magic, or mobs?
From there, we split up the work and start building! Most of our job is creating the gameplay itself, but we also get to do a lot of writing, lore, dialogue and other fun tidbits. Once everything is built, we send it to our incredible team of Grounds Keepers, who do their best to break it so we can make sure it's bug-free! Eventually, they give us the green light to run the Expedition, so we make a schedule and announce it!

That alone shows the love and care put into Expeditions, which then made me wonder about what has been their favorite thing to work on so far.
Aviva: My favorite one by far was the Murder Mystery Expedition, hence my second time mentioning it, and it was the first one I ever worked on. I had a great time working with Idris, Athena, Telly, Jake, and Tang, whether they rescued me from tech bugs or added their flair to the activities and lore. Working as a team is one of my favorite aspects of the team. The pièce de résistance, or the peak, if you will, was my trash cans. I really liked my trash cans.

Telly: There is a project in the works that is my baby, and by far the most technically advanced thing I've made on the server! It's enormous and has been a lot of work, but I'm so excited for players to see it.

The Murder Mystery Expedition is certainly something to be remembered, and Telly’s excitement for future Expeditions bleeds through the page! Looking back now, it begs the question: how has the team improved over time?
Aviva: With every Expedition and piece of feedback we receive, the Curator team has tried to pivot how we create them. One big lesson is that less is more! So we’re thinking a lot about that this upcoming summer.

Telly: Our approach has changed a little bit. At the start, we'd all work on one big Expedition, from start to finish. Now we stagger them, so there's more than one being made at once!

Next, the Curators looked to the future! Where is the team going? Aviva shared:
I am looking forward to the two upcoming Expeditions, as a lot of love and time have been put into them. In the future, I hope that we continue to expand new ways to create an enjoyable community experience within and outside of Expeditions!

Telly: I'm hoping to find the balance between gameplay and community. As much as I do love pushing Potterworld's tech to its limits, I also want to create more opportunities for players to work together and to hang out in a more casual way.
That concludes our interview. A big thanks to Aviva and Telly for taking the time to share their experiences. If hearing their story has been inspiring and you have a desire to engage with the community in a creative and technical way, the Curator applications are now open on the PotterworldMC website! Keep an eye out for the next Expedition coming in June.

Behind the Magical Education, Server Development, and Newsletter
Staff Highlights
Written by gospojken
Edited by LMNJ

That was a lot of fun reading! Before we conclude this issue of The Daily Diviner, we would like to turn the spotlight to those who make this server as incredible as it is. I have interviewed our staff members bogggoblin, yraaneq, and autumnngrace about their lives as staff members, what they enjoy about it, and the challenges they sometimes face. Let’s see what they had to say!
How long have you been on the staff team?
bogggoblin: I had originally been a member of the Potterworld staff team since 2015, with a break between then and now, so it’s been over a decade now. It’s honestly wild looking back and realizing how much both the community and I have grown during that time.
yraaneq: Much longer than I care to remember! Wait, I actually don't, let me look it up... Apparently, 2019!
autumnngrace: I joined the Daily Diviner team in September of 2022, so three and a half, coming up on four years!
What made you interested in joining the staff team?
bogggoblin: I originally wanted to join because I loved the community aspect of Potterworld. I was really drawn to the creativity behind everything, especially the classes, roleplay, lore, and events. I wanted to help contribute to something that made people excited to log on every day, the same way it did for me.
yraaneq: I don't remember exactly how the ball got rolling, although it probably involved SysterTM asking me to look into something technical. After that, it was just a fun bunch of people to help put my technical skills to use.
autumnngrace: I have always thoroughly enjoyed writing and was looking for a way to channel my creativity, and was deeply inspired by former Daily Diviner writer Creme_de_Creme's Butterbrew event article that was released that August, which sparked me to put in my application!
What are your current staff roles?
bogggoblin: I’m currently a Junior Professor of the Academics department, where I help create classes and educational content for players.
yraaneq: I'm a Senior Developer in Tech and Dev!
autumnngrace: I am currently, and have only ever been a Daily Diviner writer (I love you guys).
What type of work do you do in your positions?
bogggoblin: A lot of my work involves writing and designing lessons and building immersive classroom experiences. I especially enjoy creating lessons that blend creativity, storytelling, and worldbuilding together. Some of the projects I’ve worked on involve magical theatre, astronomy, and unmagical studies topics.
yraaneq: I mostly deal with the management and maintenance of the physical servers Potterworld is running on. I also do a fair amount of coding on the backend systems, though!
autumnngrace: I write articles for our team, and coexist happily with our editors who also put a lot of effort into our team. I take feedback from our lovely team, which helps improve myself and my work.
How much time do you approximately spend on your staff responsibilities each week?
bogggoblin: It really depends on what is happening at the time, but usually several hours throughout the week. Some weeks are lighter, while others can involve a lot of writing, revising, and brainstorming.
yraaneq: It greatly varies. Anywhere from 1 or 2 hours to about 8 is not uncommon, but sometimes it can go towards 20 or so.
autumnngrace: It depends on the issue, article, and what part of the process I'm in. I would say approximately three to four hours.
What do you enjoy the most about your roles?
bogggoblin: Definitely the creative side of it. I love taking an idea and figuring out how to turn it into something immersive and fun for players. I also really enjoy collaborating with other staff members because everyone brings such unique ideas and talents to the table.
yraaneq: The chance to apply my skills in the Potterworld environment, which is different enough from my daily job that it's really fun. I even get to play around with things that I don't get to otherwise!
autumnngrace: I love our team deeply; we are truly like a family that I wouldn't trade for anything. Being able to have a creative outlet is extremely important to me, and having the opportunity to have that is truly wonderful.
What do you find most challenging with your roles?
bogggoblin: One of the biggest challenges is balancing creativity with structure. You want lessons and projects to feel exciting and original while also fitting within established lore, guidelines, and formatting requirements. It can sometimes feel like solving a puzzle, but it’s rewarding when everything finally comes together.
yraaneq: Finding the time to do all the things we want to do as a dev team!
autumnngrace: Sometimes writing can be difficult, especially when I experience creative blocks and have a hard time incorporating my thoughts into my work.
What is a favourite memory you have made during your time as a staff member?
bogggoblin: One of my favorite parts of being on staff has honestly been seeing players engage with things I helped create. Watching people get excited about a lesson, laugh during a class, or become immersed in a story or activity is incredibly rewarding. Beyond that, I’ve made so many great memories working alongside other staff members over the years.
yraaneq: I'm not sure it counts as a favourite, but I definitely remember when we were implementing the Revelius update, there were some setbacks, and we ended up with the server being offline much longer than we had planned for. That week is probably the week I made the most hours by far.
autumnngrace: During nearly four years on the staff team, I have met a lot of people and also seen a lot of people come and go. Meeting so many creative and amazing people has been such a beautiful experience, and a true highlight of my life.
Of the many people I have met through the staff team, I could tell you about many who have become very important to me and my life. Some of these are Iris, Anne, Mel, and Lydia. All of these women have become a huge part of my life online, as well as my real life. I have had many experiences with each of them that are irreplaceable, and far too many to discuss in an article.
Is there anything more you would like to say to those reading this interview?
bogggoblin: I’d just say thank you to everyone who helps make Potterworld such a creative and welcoming community. Whether you’re a player, staff member, or someone who just enjoys being part of the world, every person contributes something special to the experience. I’m really grateful to have been part of it for so long.
yraaneq: You lost the game.
autumnngrace: If you're thinking about applying, do it. I haven't talked to one staff member, current or former, who has regretted their experience on the staff team. There are many memories to unfold within the community, staff or not!

What a wonderful way to end this issue of The Daily Diviner! It is fantastic to hear about how much Potterworld means to them and that they learn plenty of skills from their positions on the staff team. If you were intrigued by these interviews, be sure to check out the open applications at the top of the website! You can also check out the Class Helper and Daily Diviner Writer applications if you are specifically interested in helping out with classes or writing for this very newspaper!
