Build - 2.0 and Event Hubs
We recently completed the Spring Event hub, which debuted at the start of April with the Spring Event. We hope that players enjoyed this new iteration of the seasonal event hubs, with its Spring, Star Wars, and Anniversary segments!
Our main focus at the moment is 2.0 - notably revamping Hogsworth and Hogsend for the first region of the update. These projects are changing the way we build, with a plethora of new models and tools to help us build in more detail. It's further from the classic Minecraft building we're all used to, but the results are amazing! Fun fact: There are 119 interiors to be built in the Hogsend revamp!
We're also working on the Summer Event hub, which includes sections for Pride, Butterbrew, and a new event that will debut in 2027!
Community Management - Curator Updates
We're continuing to work on two brand new expeditions, each using a wide range of tech to bring a really detailed experience. The first is called "Void's Edge" and will be held towards the end of the May the 4th event!
We've recently held a lot of advanced expeditions, often focusing on bringing brand new gameplay. Following our current two projects, we're looking to consolidate this with our previous community-led expeditions to bring a balance!
Game Design - Events and 2.0
The Game Design department has some big updates to share! The Spring Event, which you can read about here, was released on April 4th. The department has also announced a 2.0 Progress Update. Read this post to discover what they have been working on!
Media - Fairy and Bird-themed Store Releases & New Exciting Features!
At the start of the month, we released the Fairy Store Releases. This included three fairy-themed cosmetics and two new pet owls, perfect for any fairy and owl enthusiasts out there!
There is now also a /resort command you can use to resort, meaning you no longer need to travel to the Great Hall. You still can if you would like that experience, though!
We are currently working on our May store releases, which will bring plenty of exciting updates to both new and old cosmetics. Without revealing too much, it will be a perfect release for any bird lovers out there! We are also thrilled to finally be able to release a long-awaited type of cosmetic, and it will have some incredibly cool features!
The Skin Arithmancers are currently hard at work on finalising skins for our next upcoming event, and as always, our splendid 2D and 3D Arithmancers have also been actively working on renders and graphics for our store releases, announcements, and other releases. The Artworkers are also continuing their massive grind on making new models for our upcoming major update!
We also added NPCs around the world where you can learn more about our Media teams and work, as well as have quick access to view our latest releases. Check it out by the Professor table in the Great Hall and in the Great Hall Courtyard to see what The Daily Diviner and WizNetworker NPCs look like!
Technology & Development - New Discord Bot and Other Development Updates!
We have been hard at work creating supporting tech for Potterworld 2.0. One of these is the singing frog choir seen in the 2.0 Progress Update here.
We added support for heads and banners not to use their custom names and lore when placed on Housing, and we recently re-enabled the Sell Items Back option inside the Mine Depot!
We are currently working on making some changes in preparation for the return of Escort Payload for the May 4th Event. We look forward to seeing these come to light!
We have also been working on tidying up our backend to make things run smoother and improve the player-facing experience. We are continuing to make these changes and hope to see them pay off in the near future!
We recently released the Discord Bot revamp. xNiels_, who worked primarily on this project, wrote the following about it!
xNiels_: We recently gave our Discord bot a complete overhaul, focusing on modernising how it works and making it easier to maintain in the future.
Instead of just updating the old bot, we rebuilt it from scratch. This gave us the chance to rethink the commands, deciding which to keep, update, or remove. The goal was to simplify things and focus on what is actually useful rather than carrying over features that were not needed.
A big part of this update was moving fully to slash commands. This makes the bot more user-friendly and lets us take advantage of Discord’s built-in features like structured inputs and autocomplete so commands are easier to use.
We also rewrote the bot in JavaScript to match the rest of our backend. We chose the Sapphire framework because it provides a clear project structure and handles things like automatic command registration. This reduces manual setup and keeps the codebase organised as the bot grows.
Overall, this rework was about making the bot cleaner, easier to use, and better prepared for future updates. We are excited to keep working on it and improving the experience for everyone
I hope you all enjoyed reading about some of the behind-the-scenes of April’s many updates. Exciting things are ahead, so stay tuned for next month’s department updates!
