Department Updates - April
Feature
Edited by Silquer
Welcome back to the Daily Diviner department updates! April has been a busy month, and each department has something exciting to share. Read on for each report from the departments themselves!

Build - 2.0 and Event Hubs

We recently completed the Spring Event hub, which debuted at the start of April with the Spring Event. We hope that players enjoyed this new iteration of the seasonal event hubs, with its Spring, Star Wars, and Anniversary segments!

Our main focus at the moment is 2.0 - notably revamping Hogsworth and Hogsend for the first region of the update. These projects are changing the way we build, with a plethora of new models and tools to help us build in more detail. It's further from the classic Minecraft building we're all used to, but the results are amazing! Fun fact: There are 119 interiors to be built in the Hogsend revamp!

We're also working on the Summer Event hub, which includes sections for Pride, Butterbrew, and a new event that will debut in 2027!

Community Management - Curator Updates
We're continuing to work on two brand new expeditions, each using a wide range of tech to bring a really detailed experience. The first is called "Void's Edge" and will be held towards the end of the May the 4th event!

We've recently held a lot of advanced expeditions, often focusing on bringing brand new gameplay. Following our current two projects, we're looking to consolidate this with our previous community-led expeditions to bring a balance!

Game Design - Events and 2.0
The Game Design department has some big updates to share! The Spring Event, which you can read about here, was released on April 4th. The department has also announced a 2.0 Progress Update. Read this post to discover what they have been working on!

Media - Fairy and Bird-themed Store Releases & New Exciting Features!
At the start of the month, we released the Fairy Store Releases. This included three fairy-themed cosmetics and two new pet owls, perfect for any fairy and owl enthusiasts out there!

There is now also a /resort command you can use to resort, meaning you no longer need to travel to the Great Hall. You still can if you would like that experience, though!

We are currently working on our May store releases, which will bring plenty of exciting updates to both new and old cosmetics. Without revealing too much, it will be a perfect release for any bird lovers out there! We are also thrilled to finally be able to release a long-awaited type of cosmetic, and it will have some incredibly cool features!

The Skin Arithmancers are currently hard at work on finalising skins for our next upcoming event, and as always, our splendid 2D and 3D Arithmancers have also been actively working on renders and graphics for our store releases, announcements, and other releases. The Artworkers are also continuing their massive grind on making new models for our upcoming major update!

We also added NPCs around the world where you can learn more about our Media teams and work, as well as have quick access to view our latest releases. Check it out by the Professor table in the Great Hall and in the Great Hall Courtyard to see what The Daily Diviner and WizNetworker NPCs look like!

Technology & Development - New Discord Bot and Other Development Updates!
We have been hard at work creating supporting tech for Potterworld 2.0. One of these is the singing frog choir seen in the 2.0 Progress Update here.

We added support for heads and banners not to use their custom names and lore when placed on Housing, and we recently re-enabled the Sell Items Back option inside the Mine Depot!

We are currently working on making some changes in preparation for the return of Escort Payload for the May 4th Event. We look forward to seeing these come to light!

We have also been working on tidying up our backend to make things run smoother and improve the player-facing experience. We are continuing to make these changes and hope to see them pay off in the near future!

We recently released the Discord Bot revamp. xNiels_, who worked primarily on this project, wrote the following about it!
xNiels_: We recently gave our Discord bot a complete overhaul, focusing on modernising how it works and making it easier to maintain in the future.
Instead of just updating the old bot, we rebuilt it from scratch. This gave us the chance to rethink the commands, deciding which to keep, update, or remove. The goal was to simplify things and focus on what is actually useful rather than carrying over features that were not needed.
A big part of this update was moving fully to slash commands. This makes the bot more user-friendly and lets us take advantage of Discord’s built-in features like structured inputs and autocomplete so commands are easier to use.
We also rewrote the bot in JavaScript to match the rest of our backend. We chose the Sapphire framework because it provides a clear project structure and handles things like automatic command registration. This reduces manual setup and keeps the codebase organised as the bot grows.
Overall, this rework was about making the bot cleaner, easier to use, and better prepared for future updates. We are excited to keep working on it and improving the experience for everyone

I hope you all enjoyed reading about some of the behind-the-scenes of April’s many updates. Exciting things are ahead, so stay tuned for next month’s department updates!

Mystical Fairy Store Releases
Editorial
Written by Silquer
Edited by gospojken

Hello, dear readers, and welcome back to the Daily Diviner! Potterworld is in the height of spring; snow has melted, winter lights have been taken off the trees, and the greenery has been returned to the server. With it has come the release of the Spring Event, which took players to the Fairy Grove to help the fairies and bugs usher in spring. In the spirit of this, the Store team released their Fairy Store Releases to immerse players in the magical world of fairies! Let us take a look at these releases.

Five new fairy-themed items have been added to the store with these releases. The Fairy Staff and Fairy Broom are perfect as a set! Both match, made of the same wood, and have delicate pink vines twisting up the staff and broom handle. To make them more mystical, little fairy wings adorn the very top of the wood. These items look wonderful next to pastel pink outfits and accessories, and garden fairies will love them for their floral appearance!

The Pet Tawny Owl and Pet Snowy Owl are fantastic companions for fairies. With their strong wings and adorable faces, they will be able to keep up with their companions! Owls are traditionally used to send mail long distances, but they are also very intelligent and will be helpful on any adventures. They can fit either whimsical fairy or dark academia outfits; regardless, they are essential for animal fairies! They also feature realistic flying and idle animations unique to these pets.

Finally, the Orange Fairy Wings have been added to the growing collection of animated fairy wings available on the store. There are now seven total colors to choose from, so players can browse for the one that matches them best!

Some seasonal items deserve a spotlight as well! Due to their seasonal nature, they will only be available in the Store until May 1st, so if you are planning to buy these, make sure to do so quickly! The Spring Wand Lore features Chocolate wood and Dandelion core, perfect to pair with The Fairy Staff or any spring-themed wand. Also available seasonally right now are several Spring Drooble’s Order perks, including the Chat Emojis, Prefix Icon, and Join Effect, all themed around spring!

It is lovely to have so many themed items for the season. There are plenty of ways to blend in with the fairies in the Spring Event, and don’t forget our very own Faerie Club package! If you’re looking to spruce up your spring wardrobe, I hope you’ll consider these new and seasonal items. Have a magical spring!

The Return to Fairy Grove
Server Spotlight
Written by gospojken
Edited by LMNJ

Greetings, witches and wizards, and welcome back to yet another Server Spotlight!

This time, we will review this year’s Spring Event that took us on an exciting return to Fairy Grove! The event launched on April 4 and could be accessed by talking to the Kevin NPC who brought you to the Spring Hub.

The Spring Hub is where all the magic happens! You spawn in a beautifully decorated hub with flowers and plants, providing a soothing atmosphere. Colourfully striped stands also populate the hub. This is where you can purchase unique collectables and cosmetics. There is also a fast travel option to spring-themed parkours, mazes, elytra courses, and droppers. Not only that, but you can also find the latest news about our Fairy Store Releases and information about the ongoing Quarterly Art Giveaway!

For any collectable hunters out there, this event was a real treasure! It introduced four brand-new collectables, namely the Spring 2026 Token, Purple Butterfly Plushie, Scarf of Growth, and Spring Bunny Ducky. Moreover, you could buy the new, exclusive wand appearance called The Spring Fairy Wand! Many returning items, including the Ladybug and Spring Basket collectables, could also be bought.

Now you might wonder, how do you go to Fairy Grove, and what is there to do? Those are great questions! All you need to do is jump into the magical portal located at the back of the Spring Hub to travel to Fairy Grove. This starts the main quest A Spring Awakening, where you have the chance to dedicate yourself to one of the five fairy talents to help bring about spring!

The fairy talents include animal, garden, light, tinker, and water. Each of these fairy talents has unique abilities, such as control of light beams, communication with animals, and the ability to mend broken items. It is vital that all the fairies work together to bring about spring, as their abilities are used for various responsibilities.

There are five side quests every twelve hours in Fairy Grove. Each quest is dedicated to one of the five fairy talents and awards you with Motes. You earn five Motes for the quest associated with your fairy talent and one Mote for all the other ones. Additionally, you earn Event Tokens and Spell Points to use for event rewards and new spells. There is also a taskboard with daily activities to earn extra Event Tokens!

Motes show the community’s progress in bringing about spring and are displayed in a community leaderboard. Furthermore, once the community has collectively earned 300 Motes of each kind, everyone can purchase the cute Ladybug collectable that can be used to ride around in Fairy Grove!

The five side quests include Ladybug Clinician, Feeding Fireflies, Collecting Clutter, River Renewal, and Garden Guardians. Here, you help Bear take care of a sick ladybug and assist Dawn in feeding the Fairy Grove fireflies. Maya also needs your help with cleaning up the river after a storm. You can also help Cora remove rubbish and blockages from the river, allowing the fish to swim freely. Finally, Aspen struggles to fend off Gnomes, which steal seeds and trample the budding flowers, and they need your help.

That is a wrap! I hope you have enjoyed the event review. Helping the fairies has been enjoyable, the new rewards are incredible, and there is so much fun to explore in the Spring Hub and Fairy Grove. The event remains available until May 1, so there are still a few days left. I highly recommend checking it out before it is over. Thank you for reading, and have fun bringing spring to Fairy Grove!

A Quick Lesson on Popular Flying Creatures
Lifestyle
Written by whoohoo
Edited by LMNJ
Lore provided by: JessicaTM, scarvlover, MakkChi, and mn614

Dear readers, I hereby welcome you to our lovely Lifestyle article in this Daily Diviner issue. My name is Viviana Sorrow, a bird expert, and I have been hired to bring you all an article on my findings.

We will begin with the Occamer. They are normally described as extremely beautiful; often compared to a dragon. It has a serpentine appearance with large wings. The key feature is its royal blue colouring. They possess a wingspan of 15 feet.

Even though the Occamers are quite rare, that does not mean you should let your guard down if you stumble across one of their nests. They are extremely aggressive and dangerous. Even though humans are not their prey, their sharp teeth and claws can easily kill a beast, no matter the size.

Occamers are egg-laying creatures, known for having pure silver eggs. Due to that, the eggs are regarded as very high-value items. Occamers mostly eat small mammals and large rodents. However, it depends on where their nest is located.

A lot of organizations have stood up for occamers as they are being threatened by humans for their eggs. This would happen through people sneaking in to take their eggs, or kidnapping a pair for personal breeding.

The second bird-creature I will be covering today is the Sorrowseer. The vulture-like bird has emerald feathers. Its wings are large, and its neck is somewhat crooked. Its deep-set eyes seem to reflect light in the same way as a crystal ball. Indeed, if a magician were to peer into them at the right time, they might catch a glimpse of the future. The creatures are unusually thin and shed feathers quickly.

Their talons are narrow and spindly. Their beaks are black and curved, just like a Phoenix. They have white-tipped feathered crowns on their heads. Sorrowseers are mostly insectivorous creatures, but they also prey on Fairies. They only hunt when it rains, using the flooding to force insects out of their burrows. They can also be spotted scavenging on the corpses of small mammals when the weather is clear.

Fiercely protective of their tear-shaped nests, Sorrowseers charge at invaders and use their beaks and claws to inflict wounds. They can anticipate attacks due to their limited ability to predict the future and have the tendency to shriek loudly if an unwelcome creature comes too close to their nests.

Like most other Accipitriformes, Sorrowseers are monogamous. They mate during the spring and collect natural debris to build nests with their partners. Females lay between one and four eggs at a time.

The third and final bird is the well-known Phoenix, a bird that everyone has heard of since childhood at least once. Phoenixes, clad in red and gold feathers, are magnificent magical birds about the same size as a swan. The red feathers of their body glow dimly in the dark. However, their long golden tail feathers are similar in length to a peacock’s and are hot to the touch. It is unknown whether the feathers' heat can cause burns or if the bird can potentially control its temperature to allow those it trusts to touch them. Despite being a gentle creature, a Phoenix's golden beak and claws can pose quite a threat should you happen to anger it.

Phoenixes can usually be found nesting on mountain peaks. These calm herbivores have a long lifespan, potentially even being immortal creatures. This is because they experience what is called a “Burning Day”. Throughout their life, leading up to this day, a Phoenix will begin to lose its feathers, and its eyes will become full. Suddenly, the bird will burst into flame and will rise from the ashes moments later. They return to full size within a few days. This ability means that a Phoenix can be hit with the killing curse and still be reborn, making it the only creature immune to the curse.

They are also immune to the lethal gaze of a basilisk, which, if met, will normally kill on the spot or will paralyze if seen through a reflection.

Phoenixes are extremely loyal creatures, and having their trust can be of great benefit. Their tears can heal almost anything. When heard, a Phoenix’s song will increase the courage of those who are good while striking fear into those who are evil. Their song can also bring a feeling of support and comfort to those who hear it.

I want to thank you all for taking the time to read my article about these amazing bird-like creatures. I hope you have found new information on these birds or have learned something new. My favorite of these three is the Sorrowseer.

The Magic Behind the Staff Team
Staff Highlights
Written by autumnngrace
Edited by Silquer

To close Issue 143 we have brought back the Staff Highlights portion of the Daily Diviner. In this column we highlight the amazing staff on Potterworld by asking a few of our staff members a set of nine questions. This column is a personal favorite of mine, as I myself thoroughly enjoy reading about other staff members' journeys. Without further ado, let’s get right into the interview.

How long have you been on the staff team?
xNiels_: I've been part of the team since late 2020, and on the staff team since 2021.
Iris304: I joined staff in January 2023.
gospojken: I have been part of the staff team since 2020 and passed my 6-year anniversary in February this year!
What made you interested in joining the staff team?
xNiels_: I really enjoyed playing on the server and was always impressed by the builds. Since I love building, I wanted to be part of the team that creates the builds players see and helps shape the experience on the server.
Iris304: I joined because a lot of my friends were joining, and it was something that I was really interested in doing. I originally joined the lore team, and loved creative writing and wanted kind of an outlet for that.
gospojken: Initially, applying for the staff team was not something I had thought of. A couple of staff members, who are now very good friends of mine, encouraged me to apply for Jr. Prefect when they saw how much I loved helping players. I thought this would be a wonderful opportunity to help people even more, as well as help me improve my skillset and grow as a person. I applied and was eventually interviewed and hired. I can say with confidence that it is one of the best decisions I have made in my life!
What are your current staff roles?
xNiels_: I am currently a Jr. Developer and an Architect.
Iris304: I’m currently a Game Designer.
gospojken: I am currently a Sr. Prefect, Discord Moderator, Wizencouncil member, and Staff Training Crew member for Community Management. I am also the Store Lead and Assistant to Head of Media!
What type of work do you do in your positions?
xNiels_: As a developer, I work on our Discord bot by adding new features and fixing bugs. As an architect, I’ve mainly been working on event builds recently, such as the recent spring event hub.
Iris304: I work a lot on different events around the server, and putting out gameplay for players to enjoy.
gospojken: My Sr. Prefect, Discord Moderator, and Wizencouncil responsibilities primarily consist of helping players, handling support tickets, and maintaining a safe environment by moderating in-game, in our Discord server, and on the website. I also help out mentoring new Prefect team members. As a Sr. Prefect, I also work closely with the Lead Prefects in helping out with ban appeals and discussing a wide variety of improvements to the server and staff team.
As a part of the Staff Training Crew, I help organising regular staff training sessions for the entire staff team. These help the staff team feel more confident in helping players and handling a wide variety of common situations that occur on the server. I also sometimes host live training sessions with individual staff members if they would like additional training.
I am also running the Store team as the Store Lead. My primary responsibilities are to manage the team, oversee any store work that is made, and keeping a close watch on how we can improve our customer experience. I also help out with the day-to-day store work, discuss suggestions and ideas, and work closely with the other departments and teams.
Finally, as the Assistant to Head of Media, I work closely with the Head of Media (Danielle) in managing the entire Media department. I discuss questions, concerns, and suggestions related to all of our teams and look out for improvements to the Media department. Furthermore, I assist the other subdepartment Leads where needed. As part of the Head Staff team, I also work closely with the other Head Staff members in overseeing the server and trying to improve your overall experience on the server!
How much time do you approximately spend on your staff responsibilities each week?
xNiels_: It varies depending on the week. Some are busier than others, but on average I would say around 5 to 10 hours per week.
Iris304: I am usually on the server for a few hours a week with my role and responsibilities.
gospojken: This question is tricky! Typically, I spend 20-40 hours in-game, and most of my time goes towards my main responsibilities and additional projects outside of them. Some of those hours also goes to actually playing the game and talking to people! However, I also spend quite a few hours off the server discussing ideas, attending meetings, et cetera, via Discord.
What do you enjoy most about your roles?
xNiels_: The most rewarding part is seeing players enjoy the things we have created. Knowing that people are exploring and having fun in builds I have worked on is always a great feeling.
Iris304: I love getting to be creative and coming up with new and exciting ideas that the players will then get to see. I love that my role is very player-facing and that what I do gets seen by everyone that plays Potterworld, and I love trying to come up with new and exciting ideas that I think people would enjoy.
gospojken: What I love the most about all my roles is helping players and team members! I have a burning passion for helping others, which is something all my positions have in common. I also really enjoy the versatility in responsibilities and how much you can learn and improve thanks to being part of this incredible team.
What do you find the most challenging with your roles?
xNiels_: The most challenging part is often figuring out the best way to go about doing something. Whether it is a new build or feature for the bot, it takes some thought to find the most effective solution that works out.
Iris304: One of the most challenging parts of my job I think is trying to predict and come up with ideas that I think the playerbase would enjoy. Trying to make events new and exciting but also engaging, and trying to figure out what it is that people want from their gameplay on Potterworld.
gospojken: As someone who has a heap of responsibilities and projects going on, I constantly face new challenges. I would say one of the biggest challenges is ensuring that we make fair judgement calls. This is something I have become skilled in, especially thanks to my Moderation roles that require this integral skill daily. However, it is still something we all struggle with sometimes and have to discuss together to find a solution!
What is a favourite memory you have made during your time as a staff member?
xNiels_: One of my favorite things has been meeting so many great people through the staff team. It is also really special to see that some of the builds I have worked on are still being used and enjoyed today.
Iris304: My favorite memories of being on the staff team have always been with the friends that I have made. So in my early time on staff, all of the lore team were so welcoming to me, and we got on so well. I have lots of very chaotic memories from that time in my staff career.
And then I’ve also made some friends on Potterworld that are now huge parts of my life on and offline. Particularly Autumn, who is writing this interview! She is now a massive part of my life, and so anytime we’ve been on Potterworld together just like running around playing they’re always top memories for me.
In terms of like highlights of things I’ve done on Potterworld I think that the 2024 halloween event in Haunted Hallow was up there with one of my favorite events I’ve ever done. Me, Noah, and Chailey kind of designed this whole storyline that went with it, and doing the live finale for that event was so, so much fun. Writing all the scripts and everything like that, playing Sienna, I had a ball doing that. That's definitely one of my top moments, and it was one of the first projects I ever did as a Game Designer, so it means a lot to me.
gospojken: Another tricky question! I have plenty of memories from the server and staff team. However, mentoring new Jr. Prefects over the years has included some of my dearest memories. They constantly pushed me to learn new things and perfect my knowledge so that I could give them high-quality training and, as an extension of it, ensure that you all receive the best customer service possible! I have also gained wonderful friends from it!
Is there anything more you would like to say to those reading this interview?
xNiels_: I would just like to say thank you to everyone who plays on the server and supports what we do. It really means a lot, and it is what motivates us to keep creating and improving the experience for everyone.
gospojken: I would say, if there is anything you are passionate about, there is a good chance that one of our positions would fit you. We have everything from positions making art to working with technical systems, to building the landscape, to hosting classes/challenges/tournaments/expeditions, to helping players.
You can learn a heap of skills that can be used both on the server and outside of it. You do not need to be the best or have a massive amount of time available to join the team. I strongly encourage you to apply if you find a role in our team that you believe you would be passionate about!
That concludes the interview. I had so much fun interviewing these staff members, and hearing about their stories on Potterworld. Thank you to all of the staff members that participated, and I cannot wait to see what the next Staff Highlights column holds. Thank you for reading, and I hope to see you in the next one!
