Barrel Racing is Potterworld’s new seasonal minigame, joining the ranks of games like Star Racing and Wand Spleef. Like the other seasonal minigames, Barrel Racing is only available during its seasonal event. While this means you only have until September 30 to play it, there will be another wonderful activity to look forward to next year! However, while I have you here and there is still time to enjoy the game, let’s go over what Barrel Racing is all about.
Simply put, in Barrel Racing, you do exactly as the name describes: you race other players on barrels. When compared to games like Rafting and Sledding, I think of Barrel Racing as a distant cousin. While they are the same fundamentally, the best description of the Barrel Racing movement is sprinting through the course with the help of Volo and slowed-down turning speeds.
Barrel Racing brings a new type of gameplay to our catalog of minigames. Unlike other games, which run for one lap, Barrel Racing switches up the standard and marks a winner after three laps.
There are a couple of ways to queue up for a round of Barrel Racing. First and foremost, after you are introduced to the lovely Appleby Village and its Butterbrew Festival, you can visit the Shops and talk with Samuel Nottingham. You would not know at first glance, but Samuel is a Barrel Racing enthusiast! In no time, he will get you added to the queue. If you are too busy to stop by the event, you can always join up with /games.
Since Barrel Racing is an event-specific minigame, it gives out custom rewards instead of Gold. For each game you play, you will earn 7 Event Tokens, and you can earn up to 8 more if you place. Additionally, each player will also gain 5 Barrel Racing Tickets for every game. You can return to Appleby Village and trade these in for more Event Tokens or other Event Tickets.
To celebrate the release of Barrel Racing, the Arena team decided to host a Barrel Racing Tournament! Like Arena’s Quabbleball Tournaments, points were tracked through minigames instead of a live event. Points were earned each time players placed in the top three and were ranked in a simple system after that. Players were able to compete for the top five spots from September 1 to September 10, with the majority of the earned rewards being Arena Tokens and Gold. The grand prize was won by Mxckeyyy, who seems to be so fast on a barrel that he can complete all three rounds before you are starting your second. Who knows what kind of whirlwind he will be at the end of the month?
Barrel Racing has already shown itself to be another favourite seasonal minigame in the community. Had the Tournament lasted longer, I am sure the competition would have gotten even fiercer. If you want to join in the fun, make sure to jump into a game before the Butterbrew Festival ends on September 30. As always, I want to give a big thank you to the Development team for creating Barrel Racing. I wish you all a magical day, and may you enjoy the rest of this month’s Daily Diviner!
