Sometimes people have the same name with each other and it means that they are in a family that they are good at most certain things in potterworldmc. So I think their should be a list of how many family trees are in this game and what stuff they are good at in classes and some minigames plus It would be nice to see a list to see how many family's are there in this game plus this could be the 1st list of 2021 to see how many are their and what the family's are mostly about and would nice to see 1 :D.

I think this is a cute idea but it'd be very hard to maintain because people are changing names constantly and families are more of an unofficial thing that Potterworld staff don't step into. If families want to add in a family tree or information about their family they should post in the roleplay sections of the forums/discord. Creative idea though.

Ye, I feel like if anything this is more of a player thing to do and I do think that i would be a very pog idea for someone to create and maintain a family thing here but I just think it is too complicated for the official staff team to deal with as some families you'll have only 1 person in it and others you'll have lots of inactive people and then the ones who are active, as aaron said are usually changing their names quite frequently

I agree that maintaining updates on family trees would be an arduous task since it seems like players change their family names every other week.. but I wonder if it's possible to incorporate into the forums itself?

Notice how people on here have the Minecraft IGN on the left, I wonder if it's possible to add a Family section underneath? Or maybe add the family name as a group tag similar to the house and club tags under the person's name?

Maybe the Roleplay staff could handle the list of family names somewhere around the forums and create a page for every family, that links to another page for the family itself? There would have to be certain requirements in order to be listed.
- Minimum of three people in a family. With one or two head members that submit forms and relevant stuff.
- Pay a monthly gold fee? 100g a month? Could be multiplied by how many members. 7 members = 700g
- Cooldown on changing family names? Monthly?
- A legit name, just letters - no numbers or other characters.
- Has to have a description or lore for the family name when the form is submitted - minimum 50 words?

How the Roleplay staff can handle the lists, pages, and descriptions of the families could be similar to how staff applications are submitted. Under the Applications tab above ^, there could be a Families section. In the form submission, There could be a few questions that the head of the family has to submit.
- Head(s) of family
- Names of family members (IGN, nickname, and forum name). Could help link to forum profile.
- Family Description/Lore
- Maybe simple descriptions of each member? Could show each member's forum avatar. Or there could be an image submission of the entire family in one photo.

The Roleplay staff could update the family page once a week or once a month?

Also, I know that this can be done on a single thread in the Roleplay forum, but honestly I think it would look elegant if there were an actual dedicated page on the forums with the names and photos of each family. Plus, the Potterworld Community seems to have quite a few families on here and I think it would be nice if staff actually did something with that. Staff are definitely missing out on incorporating this whole family/friend thing somewhere into PW - I remember when players wanted to create family towns out of the current towns on the map. It would have been interesting to see happen, but that was declined.

Since most roleplay is unofficial, it is up to the family. My family has a tree in our discord, but it is hard to maintain with all the people coming and going. Maybe the Seers could like into this for official roleplay, but for now, it's best to keep it within the families.

I really like all of this however, being a past member of the rp team i would say that the rp team already have a LOT to handle; official rp events, unofficial rp, different media stuff, etc etc. I think what would be better is if the community were given the resources such as the forum section and the ability to have their family display in their profile to do this stuff independently. In terms of gameplay, I could definitely see this working with some sort of in-game guild system where players can make guilds based on their families.

I like this idea! I think it should be a store item if they did come out with this idea, just like how you pay for an in-game nickname, then you submit your family name so they know that it's an actual family, and not just some random nickname.

Hey there!

I'm a part of the roleplay team, and I know this would be super difficult to implement. I've been working on a family list as a side project for unofficial roleplay, but to me, this is just not feasible for our team. As Joel said, there's a lot to do, and I think something like this would be not only difficult to maintain, but also would be hard to connect with the rest of the server. I saw a couple of points above being made on how families are unofficial, and I think that that's something that needs to be kept in mind here. Unfortunately, players who run these families are not in the official roleplay storyline of Potterworld, and I think that's a fair reason why this isn't feasible either.

Maybe the Roleplay staff could handle the list of family names somewhere around the forums and create a page for every family, that links to another page for the family itself? There would have to be certain requirements in order to be listed.
For this, I think it's a definite possibility, but in reality, I feel like it would soon become outdated. The only way I could see this to be implemented and maintained is if there was a dedicated person(s) for the job of maintaining it, to give them the responsibility.

How the Roleplay staff can handle the lists, pages, and descriptions of the families could be similar to how staff applications are submitted. Under the Applications tab above ^, there could be a Families section. In the form submission, There could be a few questions that the head of the family has to submit.
To me, I think that would be a confusing place to put it. If anything like this did happen, I would see it better if there was an application-type area IN the roleplay section (https://potterworldmc.com/forums/roleplay.280/).

While I do think this would be an AMAZING way to sort of combine unofficial and official roleplay together, but I just don't think it's realistic right now.

Just my thoughts!

I have to agree with Max here.

As someone in a family that's heavily involved in official roleplay and someone on the roleplay team, I can vouch that it's hard enough keeping track of us, I don't think we have the resources to be dedicating someone to be keeping up with the constantly changing family information of every family.

I think it's a great idea for the heads of each family to include information about their family on the Roleplay forum, but not necessarily for the Seers to be in charge of updating that information. :)

Hello @Tuna2!

After careful consideration, I've come to inform you that your suggestion has unfortunately been declined, as it would be too much for just the Roleplay Team to create and manage. While we felt it was a nice idea in theory, this would be more of a player-based thing to create. The Roleplay team is currently already very busy with working on official roleplay for the server and, considering they would be in charge of maintaining this, it would unfortunately take up too much time to manage. However, we have a few things we are currently working on that might help with displaying families easier in the future, so keep an eye out on that.

Thank you again for making this suggestion and I hope you have a nice day!
