Created in October of 2020, the WizNewsletter serves as a way for students and staff to recap on the month's updates. WizNetworkers spend countless hours researching, writing, editing, and implementing each section so that the happenings of the wizarding world do not go unnoticed. SERVER ANNOUNCEMENTS
Congratulations to the Serpents for winning the House Cup for the first quarter of 2023! Head over to Carnage Count in the Great Hall to celebrate our Serpent pride with a House-themed build! Hope you all remembered to wear green. Let's show our support for the Serpents; we can't wait to see who wins next quarter!
Store releases are the best time of the month! For April, the Store team has worked hard to create the new Playful Pups Store Releases. With this exciting array of new pets, wands, bundles, and more you can find your perfect puppy pal match. The first on the list for this store release are new friendly pet pups! Next, to go along with this pawfect theme, adorable Dog Ears are now available. Finally, the spring-themed items in this release. The Cherry Blossom Scenery, Cherry Blossom Bundle, and beautiful Spring Bundle are all full of wonderful items that bring the spring season to life!
It’s time to congratulate our 2023 Season 1 Arena Champions. After 3 months of hard work these players have rocked these challenges. To start off in the Flying Category, congrats to Davologies for coming in first! Next, the Dueling Category. Congrats to TallBlondeDude for coming in first! And last, but certainly not least, congrats to jacquas for first place in the overall category! Congratulations again to everyone and thank you to all who participated. We hope to see even more talented players in future Arena events this year!
Every quarter, the range of minigame maps will be updated. Some maps will be temporarily disabled while others will become accessible, like special-themed event maps such as the returning NYC Pride Parade. All players can enjoy these updates, so there's always something new to experience on the server! We hope you enjoy some of the returning maps this season with ones like Flight of the Bee, or even the Department of Secrecy!
Witches, Wizards and magical beings, The Arena Team released exciting new updates during mid-April! This included new maps such as the Wigtown Quabbleball arena, the Dark Prison arena, a Super Secret Flying course, and the Mustafar Star Racing Course. The Arena Team also added two new features, so you are now able to view the Arena Tournament History by clicking the trophy in the Dueling Halls. Seasonal Winners may also be viewed as NPCs in the Dueling Halls as well! Along with the new features, a new challenge titled Random Teams Dueling Challenge was added; this is where teams are assigned randomly and must duel their way to victory! Other updates included, Arena Hub and Lobby changes, Arena Discord changes, Arena Token Shop updates, and finally some Bug fixes. Experience the updates for yourself!
GAMEPLAY UPDATESWith the weather warming up, and the cherry blossoms starting to bloom, we can finally say that spring is upon us! The Mahounoshiro School of Magic is the perfect location to spend your spring break. The Mahounoshiro School opened its gates to visitors on April 1st and will stay open for guests until April 29th. Participate in the egg-citing egg hunt, or set time aside for the 5 repeatable gameplay quests! If hunts and quests aren't your thing, you can partake in the minigames available to earn additional Event Tokens- which can be redeemed for nifty rewards, such as unique collectables, banners, and heads. Bask in the cherry aroma and admire the vibrant cherry blossoms while you have the chance. Enjoy your spring break, witches and wizards!
The Development team is back with more bug fixes and improvements to make your gameplay experience on Potterworld the best it can be! These updates and changes are primarily based on the Housing and Marketplace features of the server, but also contain some miscellaneous changes. Regarding Housing, you’ll now have a new menu containing key information on all available Housing commands when you type and enter /house. This is to help avoid the chat flood for you all! Additionally, some new Resident permissions and restrictions have been added to /house settings! Bought too much of one item? Support has been added to the Mine Depot in order to trade back small quantities of items! On to the Marketplace updates; the Gear Marketplace Shop is now sorted, featuring individual sub-categories for various levels of gear pieces. Along with that, the Choco Hop Marketplace Shop now shows the new Classic, Locations, and Schools category cards, as well as past Winter Waltz cards now on sale! For the previously mentioned miscellaneous category, some of the features include: an automatic Night Vision effect while Flying, bug fixes in the 1v1 Arena, and secondary queues for class broadcasts! Make sure to check out all of these new and updated features on Potterworld today!
The forgotten town of Woodshire was revealed to the world of Potterworld with the release of the Woodshire Expansion! Players can explore the town and discover the mysteries and secrets surrounding Woodshire by completing the five main quests, two repeatable quests, and many hidden activities and discoveries. Woodshire Reputation was also added to the town, where players can partake to have the opportunity to gain an exclusive reward! Additionally, dens were introduced as a part of this update, which are hidden areas where hoards of mobs live waiting to be defeated by players! The new mobs residing in these dens include the Minotaur, the Kearpon, and the Bizirik. Smaller changes like the Knight Shuttle stopping in front of Merlins’ Magical Hospital were made too. Make sure to check out this update and discover the mysterious and magical history of Woodshire today!
The Technology and Development team delivered some exciting and much anticipated changes to Quabbleball, starting off with on-world practice and the reintroduction of Quabbleball tournaments! General changes include a new /help command with position information, player rejoin support, AFK check, and the increase of broom speeds by 15%! Defenders will now face the correct direction when teleported into their area and goal messages will match the color of the team thanks to the bug fixes. Changes to the playable positions in the game include reduced stun duration for Bruisers, an increased defender box for the Defenders, enabling of spells whilst not on a broom for the Passers, a decrease in the initial speed of the swippet, and so much more. COMMUNITY UPDATES
This month we had two big and exciting tournaments! _Engel and _Navyy were the victors in the Flying 2v2 Tournament! In the Dueling tournament, EdenLovesMommy and Jacquas dueled their way to the top! Congratulations to the four winners and we hope everyone had a great time participating and watching these matches unfold! For those who didn't make it to the top, don't worry! There will be more opportunities to showcase your abilities next month. Keep practicing and improving, and who knows, maybe you'll be the next champion! We encourage everyone to sign up and join in on the fun in the upcoming season 2 tournament of 2023. Good luck and may the best player win!

This April 2023 Quabbleball Tournament has concluded! The tournament commenced from April 28th at 12pm PST to April 30th at 11:59pm PST. Players competed against each eachother using our /games queuing system to earn top scores on the tournament leaderboard. This leaderboard was accessed through the Potterworld website or in the Quabbleball practice tent in-game! Rewards for winning included a temporary (Quabbleball Champion) Prefix , a PvP Crown Hat, Arena Tokens, 200 House Points and more! Stay tuned for the winners, and there will be more tournaments to look forward to in the future!
