Created in October of 2020, the WizNewsletter serves as a way for students and staff to recap on the month's updates. WizNetworkers spend countless hours researching, writing, editing, and implementing each section so that the happenings of the wizarding world do not go unnoticed. It's time to announce the department switch of the Poltergeist team from Community Management to Technology & Development! Since the Poltergeist subdepartment works closely with testing and managing player feedback and suggestions, we hope that this change will help the transparency between players and the staff team in order to focus on the core aspects of the server. Some changes will also be made in accordance with how suggestions and feedback will be taken such as a raise in the amount of AC given from filling forms out, the shortening of forms, the broadcasts sent out in-game when forms are released, and the exploration of new methods to gather statistical data. We hope you're all excited to see where these changes lead the community!
SERVER ANNOUNCEMENTS
At the beginning of July, the Store Team brought the stars down to Potterworld with the new Celestial Store Releases! With such an out-of-this-world theme, a ton of new items were added, such as the Galaxy Staff, Galaxy Broom, Starry Death Effects, Solar Wand Effects, Pet Star, and Star Guardian! Additionally, the Night Bundle was made available for purchase, which includes Night Emotes, Starry Wand Effects, and the Star Moon Wand.
The Ravens have won the House Cup this quarter, continuing an incredible winning streak! Speak to the NPC outside the Great Hall if you want to celebrate this win, regardless of your house. We hope you all had fun and enjoy the next quarters as well!
After careful consideration, the decision was made to furthermore discontinue the Housemaster role. Unfortunately, the role wasn't vital to a gameplay-focused server and team and helped us realize that a strong community is self-run. Worried about the House Cups? Fear not, they'll still be a part of the server and may even be expanded upon! We'd like to thank all previous Heads of Houses and Housemasters for their contributions and hard work throughout the years!
With the exciting announcement from the Build Team, there are new minigame maps to play along with a new schedule for map releases that cycle every three months! While we allow certain maps to shine, it will also include exciting event maps for their respective event!
GAMEPLAY UPDATESAs requested for quite a while, the Developer team has created the new Ignore System. With new commands, players are able to ignore a player, unignore a player, and view their ignored list. When these commands are used on a player of your choice you can not see their messages in chat and they are not able to message you, however, they will still be able to see your chat messages. Some other recent changes made are part of the Parties and Friends Systems! In the Party System, commands have been added to create public parties, view your party list, create a party description, and give party ownership to a player! Some smaller changes can be found in the Friends System where players can now accept an incoming friend request if there is already a pending invite and some small display changes to the friend-related menus!
The Game Designer team has been hard at work implementing new features for players to use! Quick Travel NPCs can now be found in Hogsend and London, where Sr. Prefects and Street Auralocks are respectively scattered around to help. Additions to the Mine Depot, as well as more features to Reputations were also introduced! One feature allows mobs to be tracked down using your enchanted compass. An existing change was made to the lost NPC’s found in the Divination tasks of Reputation. To decrease confusion, their nameplates were removed. In the future, more content is being planned for release. Variability from Reputation rewards will be removed to create balance. More Fast Travel Quests, new businesses established around the world, and Woodshire are currently planned as well. Meet Via Oxley, a student learning the art of healing! Join Via in the release of the Mark of a Healer Expansion, which includes a questline of over 6 quests that can be unlocked as you progress throughout the years. Each quest improves your knowledge of potions, spells, and items related to healing in your medi-kit. A new spell called Saniterisc can be unlocked in Rising Healer: Supported, one of the quests found in the questline! Explore the redesigned Merlin’s Magical Hospital that comes along with this expansion! Embark on a journey with Via Oxley, as you explore what it means to be a healer.
Good news, travelers! While exploring towns you can now find new residents who are looking for a little help with certain tasks requiring different skills. Cooking, Divination and even Transfiguration are only some of the skills you'll need to complete tasks such as collecting ingredients or creating something new and magical. With these tasks comes rewards in the form of 10 to 15 reputation for the town you perform them in and you can view them on the Bulletin Board near the center of that town. The Bulletin Board also shows the tasks available to you, their location, and the required skill to perform them. There's 5 tiers of rewards for each town, so make sure to keep track of your reputation per town on the town leaderboard. Enjoy Phase 1 of the Reputation Expansion!
Quests now have additional features that players can utilize during their gameplay! The focused quest system allows players to have their current objective displayed on their scoreboard. To switch which quest you would like to focus on, click on any other found in your quest menu. You can also click on your current quest as well to unfocus it. Alongside this system, an all-new quest items bag holds onto any obtained items that you receive on your adventures. This will eventually be used for upcoming releases. Bug fixes that ranged from housing to commands, as well as new features, were implemented. You can see how many housepoints you’ve earned by running the command /points! We hope you enjoy these quality of life changes!
COMMUNITY UPDATES
These past two months have been packed full of action! We've held so many tournaments, and have finally declared our victors! Last month had us on the edge of our seats, with many competitions to participate in. Let's congratulate our June winners of the Plasma Showndown Tournaments; Johtomies in first place, Ismoo in second, and Littlel coming in third! Of course, we can't forget about July's Flying and Dueling Tournaments, much less, the winners. Let's give a huge congratulations to TheKalmingKlaus and Tameeko for winning July's 2V2 Flying Tournament! We'd also like to congratulate minatoooo and TheKalmingKlaus on winning the 2V2 Dueling Tournament for July! Congratulations to all winners, and participants. Good luck with the next tournaments!
Another Arena Season brings new Arena Champions! We'd like to congratulate _Navyy, Enzologies, and egg_AV for taking their places at the top and coming out as our 2022 Season 2 Arena Champions! egg_AV sped their way to the finish line, coming out as the top flier in the fast-paced Flying category. Watch out for _Navyy, as their combat skills put them in first for the exciting Dueling category! Don't forget to congratulate Enzologies for coming first in the Overall category, with a score of 104. Congrats to all winners, and good luck for the next season!
The Inquisitors hosted a fantastic Pride-themed Community Engagement Event this month! One of the activities was a Pride Mazerunner where participants had to collect a series of colorful essences within a maze, then find the center of it for their reward. The other activity was a Pride N Seek in Diagonal Lane and Carket Market where participants were finding other players! There was also a version where they were trying to find the Inquisitors. We hope everyone involved had a wonderful time at the Community Engagement Event, as it was, unfortunately, the last.
