Created in October of 2020, the WizNewsletter serves as a way for students and staff to recap on the month's updates. WizNetworkers spend countless hours researching, writing, editing, and implementing each section so that the happenings of the wizarding world do not go unnoticed. SERVER ANNOUNCEMENTS
Congratulations to the Honeybadgers on winning the House Cup for the third quarter of 2023! It was a tough competition, but the Badgers took the lead at the end with just over a thousand points. To celebrate, players could talk to the Chunky Charles NPC outside of the Great Hall to gather some cool collectibles and explore the surrounding area! The last quarter of the House Cup ends in December, so it’s time to put in the work to achieve victory. Best of luck to all houses!
With the arrival of October, we are happy to announce this year’s PW-tober giveaway! PW-tober is an annual giveaway that features 31 prompts for the 31 days of October. Creative members of our community can post their submissions on the PW-Tober 2023 forum post or in the #pw-tober-2023 channel on the Art Discord! Each submission is worth 1 entry into the raffle, so if players submit all 31 prompts they have 31 chances of winning the giveaway! The winner will be randomly selected on the 1st of November and can either choose the Enchanter’s Hat or Resting Raven Staff to win alongside 200 Potter Points and 100 House Points. The store team has announced the Enchanted Forest Store Releases! Players can become a magical fairy by purchasing from the multitude of enchanting store items available. For instance, the lavish Woodland Circlet and the adorable Mushroom pet will definitely make you feel like you are at home in an enchanting woodland! If those are not your style, the selection of fairy pets may take your fancy, with five new colour options being available with this store release. To explore the whimsical items, make sure to visit the Potterworld Store on the forums or in-game!
Please give a big congratulations to Ariel (Creme_de_Creme) on becoming the newest Head of Academics! Ariel joined the team in 2022 during the Academics-Arena merge and has thus proven her knowledge of the department and leadership within the team. It’s with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to Zach (zachmath15) as he departs from the Academics team, but he does so knowing that Ariel is fully capable of running the department! She will be responsible for ensuring that all of the live events are up to standard for Potterworld’s players. We’re confident in Ariel’s abilities, and we’re so excited to see her thrive in her new position! Make sure to congratulate her when you have the chance!
The Academics Team proudly presented the Halloween-themed 8 Hours of Classes on October 15th. This event featured various classes that ranged from creative writing to dueling. Among the classes offered were, Dark Arts, Potions, and Magical Creatures! Attendees who completed at least four of the eight classes were awarded a special prize at the end of the class in the lobby. It was a fun and educational day for everyone who joined in on the festivities and hope you enjoyed the magical experience!
The arrival of the spooky season welcomed the return of our seasonal Halloween Store Releases! In need of a quick costume for Halloween? The store’s Jack-O'-Lantern Hat or Plague Mask might be for you! If those aren’t quite your style, maybe our collection of Button Eyes suits your interests. If you’re already set on a costume, spread the spirit with the Halloween Emotes! If you’re bored of your current broom and want to create fright in the night, stylize with the Witch’s Broom appearance! These spook-tacular returning releases will be available until November 11th, so make sure to swoop in and buy some for yourself this Halloween season!
The Arena team enjoyed all your feedback and made some new improvements to enhance your gaming experience. The latest release included new maps that we can't wait for you to explore as well as some gameplay bug fixes and new rules. GAMEPLAY UPDATESGet ready to explore new places in the latest Maps Rotation for October! Each month, the build team updates our collection of popular maps to offer a fresh and improved gaming experience. This time around, they've added maps like The Room of Requisite, The Ministry, and The Mushroom Forest, alongside returning favorites such as The Dwelling, and Riddleyard. Whether you're a seasoned player or new to the game, this month's Maps Rotation is the perfect opportunity to join in on the fun and test your skills. Don't miss out on the action, and join us on this exciting adventure today!
After some time, the Development Team is back with some new and refreshing Bug Fixes & Improvements! The online map has gotten a bit of a makeover this month, as it now includes places such as Woodshire, the Appleby Village Revamp, Pirate Cove, and more. As the weeks continue, even more content will be added to help you out on your adventures around the map! The Player Ignore System has gotten a few changes as well; players who you have blocked or have blocked you can no longer send or receive mail, send or receive trade requests, and use emotes on each other. It’s time to get your game on with some new Minigames fixes as well! Multiple bugs related to Quabbleball, Gauntlets, Arenas, and even the website have been fixed to improve your experience. Step into Riddleyard and join the Witches' Coven in banishing spooky spectres this Halloween. Hogsworth students are invited to partake in a range of activities including capturing ghosts, engaging in new event-themed games, and earning fantastic rewards. This year's event offers an introductory quest, 7 repeatable activities, and the introduction of "The 9 Hells Gauntlet," accessible by exchanging Spooky Tokens. Players can utilize their quest journal to locate all starting points for the event content. The battle against the forces of evil will continue until November 11th, so grab your wands and head to Riddleyard before it's too late.

Congratulations to cxrlyyy and jacquas on coming in with a smooth landing and taking first place in the 2v2 Flying Tournament! Of course we can’t forget to celebrate the winners of the 2v2 Dueling Tournament, jacquas and SmellyLilBro!
