Welcome to the Academics weekly assignment for the week of September 26th, 2021! These weekly assignments will give our Professors the ability to showcase some of their lesson ideas here on the website. Each assignment will be posted for a week, in which everyone will be able to read about the topic and respond to the assignment prompt. This week's assignment is "Astronomy - Black Holes," created by Courtney (epic_cool_mcgee).

The Inquisitorial Squad will be hosting Butterbrew and school themed Community Engagements during the month of September, and all of you are invited! We will be hosting multiple CEs, over the span of five days, with a few fun activities for you all to participate in!

All Hogsworth students have been invited to attend Hogsend’s Butterbrew Festival! Grab a mug of Butterbrew with your friends at the Broomsticks Inn while enjoying the new themed quests, minigames, and rewards! Join the celebration until October 9 by speaking to Kevin at the Great Hall.

Main Quests
In your Quest Journal, you will see a new icon for the Butterbrew Festival Event. There are five new main quests located in Hogsend and completing all of them will provide event tokens to purchase exclusive rewards.

Repeatable Content
There are two new Side Quests that can be completed once per twelve hours for Event Tokens. You can locate starting coordinates as well as track your cooldowns for these in your Quest Journal!

You can also earn Event Tokens by completing mazes, droppers, or parkours at the Games NPC. This year, we’ve brought back some old favorites as well as introduced a new Pensive Dropper! All of the minigames in /games will reward additional Event Tokens for the duration of the event.

Rewards
You can purchase several new rewards with Event Tokens at the Rewards NPC in front of Honeysweets. Here, you can also exchange Event Tokens for Gold at a 1 to 1 ratio. The list of rewards are as follows:

Hey everyone!

For the first time ever, we’re super excited to be announcing that we’re opening Engineer applications!

Engineers are responsible for making the spells, as well as the mobs, that you see on the server.

Spells are created using NathanWolf’s Magic plugin.
Mobs are created using Mythic Mobs by Xikage.

Both of these plugins use configs to create what we all get to experience on the server. They are super easy to learn if you’re interested- and as you’ve seen on the server, they are an essential part of what makes Potterworld what it is today. They are not coding positions. There are tons of examples of spells and mobs that can be found online. If you want to get started, I encourage you to check those out!

As an Engineer, you’ll help create new spells and mobs for quests, dungeons, events, classes, minigames, and much more. You’ll also be working closely with Potterworld’s leadership to direct the future of mobs and spells.

Greetings, witches and wizards!

After a lot of hard work, we are very excited to announce that the Scenery Viewer has returned and is better than ever with major improvements and upgrades!

To access the Scenery Viewer, speak to Mary Weaselby in the Miscellaneous Shop at the far end of the In-Game Store. She will open a GUI for you with a selection of every housing scenery we have on the server for you to visit and explore!

At each housing scenery is a House Elf that you can speak to in order to return to the In-Game Store, visit another housing scenery or a brand new feature - change the time of the scenery that you're at! There are a few preset options to change the time but we have also added the ability to change your time in increments of 30 minutes. Please note that when you change the time, it will only change for you. Additionally, we have also added a spell to the Store Wand that does the same thing as the House Elf so that you can access these features from anywhere on the housing scenery you are visiting.

The Media department is excited to announce that we are opening the WizNetworker applications to everyone for the first time in WizNetworker history! WizNetworkers are responsible for managing the server's social media platforms and organizing community giveaways & competitions. We also plan scheduled posts and contribute to the creation of the monthly WizNewsletter.

Applications will remain open until October 4th. Remember to take your time when you fill in the application and make sure you are able to meet all the requirements before submitting your application. Hey! Today we bring you a long awaited gameplay updated for experience and leveling up! This post will go over all of the changes made during this experience rework. We hope all of you young witches and wizards enjoy this update, and have an easier time leveling up throughout your school years at Hogsworth!

Quests, Mobs, & Academic Credits
We have made some reworks to the experience given from quests, mobs, and ACs (Academic Credits)!

We noticed that ACs were giving insane amounts of experience for people at lower levels, so we have reworked the amount of experience Academic Credits give to a reasonable amount, scaled according to your level. This rework should hopefully make it so the amount of experience AC gives doesn't feel out of place, and is balanced with the other experience changes.

Experience rewards for quests have received a buff! Quests will now reward you with around 2-3x as much experience in comparison to the previous reward amounts. If you haven't noticed, these quest reward changes have been in-game for a little over a week; We just didn't make an announcement about it until everything else was ready.

Mobs will also give you more experience than what they have given previously. Killing a mob will now reward you with around 1.25x as much experience in comparison to what they were in the past.

Daily Activities
Daily Activities now give rewards tailored according to your level and the difficulty of the task, which is a huge win! We have also lowered the level requirement to level 10 for the minigames daily activities. We hope that these changes give you some more options to earn experience at lower levels, along with more viable rewards for your current level.
