Greetings witches, wizards and all magical folk alike!
Welcome to the very first Technology & Development blog! Our goal with these blogs is to shed more light into how the Development Team works behind the scenes, what we’re working on and what we plan on working on in the near future.
It may become technical at times, but we’ll try our best to word it as simply as we can, while still keeping it interesting to read for the majority of you.
APRIL ACHIEVEMENTS
April was a very good month for the Development Team with major milestones finally being achieved. We spent the majority of the month preparing for the maintenance, as well as working on guilds and getting that ready so that after the maintenance, we could start testing it immediately.
As a result of the maintenance we held on April 17th, more of our developers are able to work on the backend for the server; which means that hopefully moving forward, updates from the Development team should be a lot more frequent.
What we’ve achieved this month:
The new backend is here!
Guilds are here!
We have added the ability for the Game Design team to have leaderboards on the server that automatically update! You will see the first use of these in the May 4th event, but as time progresses, you’ll see a lot more of them in classes and in the world.

These leaderboards update every 10 minutes.
Due to the lack of developers on the backend, it turns out that a lot of errors have been firing off for years. With the increased amount of developers working on it, these errors have...

Created in October of 2020, the WizNewsletter serves as a way for students and staff to recap on the month's updates. WizNetworkers spend countless hours researching, writing, editing, and implementing each section so that the happenings of the wizarding world do not go unnoticed. Let’s get into the news from the past month!
Congratulations to Emily (eimly) on becoming our next Honeybadger Housemaster!
As I progress IRL, it’s time I pass on the role of Housemaster to someone who has more availability to dedicate to the position. I am certain that Emily will do a wonderful job in this position & we're excited to see all she does!
I have absolutely adored being your Head of House/Housemaster, but all good things must come to an end, and I know you all deserve someone who is able to show commitment to the role and involvement with the community. You’ve all been amazing, and are real embodiments of the spirit of the Honeybadger house.
