Introducing Guilds: Part 1

Greetings witches and wizards!

Back in 2015, Droobledore teased the concept of Guilds to the public in this particular podcast. Let’s just say things didn’t go as planned, and guilds had to get postponed.. by 7 years!

It, therefore, brings us much excitement to finally stand here and announce that Guilds have officially now been released! You may be excited too, which we’re super happy about, but there are some things to know!
  • You can do /guild and /guilds to get a list of all guild commands - there are quite a lot!
  • You can only be in one guild.
  • There are 3 ‘ranks’ in a guild; member, admin, and owner. Some guild commands can only be used by particular ranks. You can use /guild prefix <player> <prefix> to set your, or your member’s, own custom-prefix.
  • There is currently a member limit of 50 players per guild. This limit is not final and may be increased/decreased in the future.
  • Guilds have their own chat, use /ch guild or /ch gu to focus the channel. This channel will act like party chat - no moderation will occur here. Swearing, spamming, caps-lock, etc. are all dependent on the guild. If a member is breaking your rules, simply kick them from the guild.
  • We have given players a lot of freedom to design their guild however they want, but any obstruction of our rules will get the player banned from being in a guild. This means no inappropriate guild names, descriptions, banners, prefixes, etc. This will be an instant guild ban, which means no warnings will occur. If you’re unsure if something is breaking a rule, please create a ticket.
  • Pro tip: You can also enable guild message notifications in your /me settings.

Greetings witches and wizards!

As Season 1 comes to a close, it's time for our Arena 2022 Season 2 Release! The theme for this release is Time Travel, and we have 2 new maps for you, with more coming throughout the season!

  • NEW - Land Before Time Flying Course: Go on a trip back in time to the dinosaur age! Navigate through the hot volcano to come back to modern times, but make sure not to get eaten by the dinosaurs on your way back to the present!
  • NEW - Time Room Dueling Arena: A fight has broken out in the Department of Mysteries! Engage with your opponents in a fierce duel, but make sure not to knock anything over!
We're hoping to release more Time Travel content in our mid-season release!

Congratulations to Emily (@Ralie) on becoming our newest Assistant to Head of Media & Public Relations!

As Assistant to Head, Emily is now responsible for the management of all the teams within the Media & PR department alongside the current Head of Media & PR (Sunnya). Together, they are responsible for the standards for creative content released & used for the server.

Emily has been a member of Media Leadership for over a year now and has been in Media for a bit less than 2 years! Ever since joining Media, she has been a phenomenal member of the team and has really shaped the department for the better. We consider ourselves so lucky to be able to work alongside her and are excited to see her in this new role!

RESOLVED Server Maintenance: April 17

Hey everyone!

We will be putting the server into maintenance mode next Sunday at 10 AM UTC/3 AM PST to perform some long-awaited updates to our infrastructure.

During this maintenance, the entire server will be offline and players will not be able to connect. This includes the hub and minigames. Our website and discord server will still be available.

We have no ETAs on how long this will take, but it won’t be quick. We will provide updates during the day as we make progress.

Thanks, everyone! We’re excited for this maintenance, and we hope you’ll remain patient with us as we work through it once it starts!

Update 1 - 10 AM UTC:
We have started with the maintenance. Updates will be posted when major milestones have been reached. There is no ETA at this point in time. Thank you for your patience!

Update 2:
Update: Progress is going good, there's been a few unexpected issues that set us back a bit, but otherwise, things are going pretty good. We're on the server now and doing initial testing, where issues are being discovered and fixed accordingly.

We will have an update when we know more. Still no ETAs.

Update 3:
Update: We have just now opened the server for staff testing. We don't know how long this will take as it depends on how many issues occur. If everything goes well, there's not much standing in the way of ending this maintenance.

Update 4 - Delayed till tomorrow:
Update: Sadly, too many issues have been occurring during the staff testing, and after having been working on this for the past 13 hours, the opening of the server will have to wait for tomorrow.

Welcome Back Quabbleball

It brings us great excitement to announce the return of a beloved game: Quabbleball!

This return includes a couple of changes:
  • We have completely reworked how the Defender position works. A Defender no longer needs to aim at the goal to protect it - they have different options now to select which goal they want to protect (based on left click, right click, off hand swap and drop key)
  • There is now a 3 second countdown after scoring a goal before the quabble respawns in the middle
  • We have made the scoreboard more compact to be easier to look at.
  • Players can no longer walk into goals
  • Bruisers can no longer hit their teammates
  • Bruiser right click spell (knockout) cooldown was increased from 3 to 4 seconds
  • Passer ball steal’s range was increased from 3 to 5 blocks
  • Fixed a bug where two people could get the quabble (after being hit with it)
  • Removed the lobby completely
  • Players can now fly behind the goals
  • Quabble spawns at different heights along the centre line
  • Defenders can no longer pick up the quabble whilst not flying
  • Defenders can no longer hold the quabble for more than 7 seconds at one time
  • Fixed a bug where the game would not end with zero players on a team
  • Other QOL changes & bug fixes that you’ll have to find out for yourself :D

We also have new maps! We have completely reworked the original map and created three new maps! Quabbleball has now come to Brazil, Bulgaria and France!

Why did this take so long?
