The Winter Waltz is here and this year it is being held at Dormunstrad! Though the people of Dormunstrad were prepared for a wonderful holiday, they’ve come to face a terrible problem. An unknown force has cursed Dormunstrad, freezing many of the main locations of the school with cursed ice. Talk to Kevin, in Hogsworth’s Great Hall Courtyard, to begin your adventure.

Gameplay
Forge Bluefyre in order to unfreeze five key locations in the castle! Bluefyre requires a few items found around the castle, as well as Holiday Spirit, which can be earned from most gameplay in the event. Unfreezing each location will unlock new rewards to purchase with Snowflakes. There are also many puzzles that can be found throughout the castle and a unique Escape Room challenge!

Additionally, Sledding, Snowballing and Wand Spleef has been enabled while the event is active. Enjoy these exclusive minigames for the next month!

Advent Calendar
The Advent Calendar has returned this year! Every two days, a new reward is available to collect from the Christmas trees at the entrance of Dormunstrad.

As the holiday season approaches, it is time to prepare for the Winter Waltz tournaments! The way these work are similar to normal tournaments, however you get to pick your teams and there are no qualifiers.

This year, both Dueling and Flying will have two tournaments, Duos and Teams. Duos are teams of two and Teams are teams of four. The Duos tournament will be held on December 7th, while the Teams tournament will be held on December 14th. You can sign yourself and friends up for Dueling here, and for Flying here.

As is now tradition with Winter Waltz tournaments, along with the regular rewards, special collectables are up for grabs! The firework launcher will be given to the winning teams, and a collectable with a custom spell to display the winner's Minecraft heads will be given to the winning duos.

The Media department is pleased to announce that we are reopening the Director Intern application after the role has been reworked. We are very excited to welcome new members to the team!

What has changed?
We have made the Director Intern more like an intern. As a Director Intern, you will be creating videos for the Potterwatch channel under the supervision of a Sr. Director or a Media Lead. As a Director Intern, you will be learning skills to help you improve video creation and editing, and you will learn the standards we have for Potterwatch. The major difference between the old Director Intern and the new Director Intern is that now we do not expect people to already have great video creation skills. We welcome people who know the basics but who are also still learning.

Applications will be open indefinitely. Take your time with filling in the application and creating a test video. There's no rush to apply! If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Head of Media or another member of Head Staff.

Hey everyone! It’s been nearly a week since the release of the daily streaks login, and here’s what we’ve learned from it, what we’re doing about it, and what to expect.

Reverting the update
After careful consideration, we’ve come to the decision to revert the streaks update, whilst we take the time needed to fix the bugs that has been occurring with it. We know that reverting updates is not fun, and trust me, it is even less fun for us, but with the amount of bugs the daily streaks is having, it’s something we have to do at this point in time to ensure a good gameplay experience for everyone.

Why we’re making this decision
We want to be transparent with all of you and explain why we’re making this decision:

1. We miscalculated the bonus experience rewards by a long shot. In some cases, players were rewarded over 20 million experience.
2. A lot of player’s streaks were resetting at random times, when they were not supposed to reset.
3. The daily login streaks itself weren’t optimal. Some of you might have noticed, but the bonus rewards were delayed by 1 second. If someone logged out before this 1 second arrived, they would not get the reward which is bad player experience and unwanted.
4. We didn’t test this release carefully and thoroughly enough.

So, what now?
We’ll be reverting the daily login reward to the old one. For the next 7 days, every time you claim the reward, you’ll be rewarded 25 gold as an accommodation for this release. This will only last for the next 7 days, so be sure to get on to get the bonus!

We don’t know when the daily login streaks will be back, but we promise it’ll be back much better than before, as we will be improving the functionality as well as fixing the bugs.

Witches and wizards, today we bring you an update from the development team! A new method of earning gold and Potter Points is here!

What are daily login streaks?
Daily login streaks are our new way of encouraging players to join the server on a consistent basis. This way, if you log in multiple days in a row, the reward you get for claiming your daily reward gradually increases, and continues to do so based on the streak amount. Graduates receive a larger gold bonus, whilst non-graduates receives a very large experience bonus.

Once you’ve reached the tenth consecutive daily login, the login streak will reset and you will be rewarded 25 Potter Points.

Balancing changes
With this, we’ve made a few changes to graduate rewards. Instead of receiving 50 gold for simply claiming your daily reward, you now receive 25 gold by default. However, as your login streak increases, the total gold reward will exceed 50 gold.

The daily reward also no longer resets at midnight, but instead receives a 23 hour and 30 minute cooldown from the moment you claim your reward.

Hello everyone!

The Head Staff team and the Moderation department are excited to announce a change to the Moderation team! A few ranks are being renamed and there's a new role being added to the department in order to help balance things out a little more. The roles are now going to be:

• Jr. Prefect - This is the entry rank to the department and is just the old Trainee rank renamed.
• Prefect - This is the mid rank in the department and functions almost the same as a current Prefect would.
• Sr. Prefect - This is the new rank, and is the senior position in the department. These are similar to Prefects but have more responsibilities.
• Lead Prefect - These are the Leads in Moderation and are the old Sr. Prefects [not to be confused with the new rank].

There are, of course, the other ranks within the department, but these remain unaffected by these changes. We hope that these changes make sense! The application for Moderation will be renamed to reflect these changes, and anyone currently in the process of applying will remain unaffected by the change.
